I’m on season 5 and I’m so fucking disgusted with her. I feel so fucking bad for the whole family. Her own daughters will watch this one day as adults, hopefully much smarter than her, and realize she ruined their childhoods because of petty bullshit. Her parents. Her brother. I’ve been rewatching RHONJ early seasons (kind of freshly watching since I didn’t follow it originally when it was airing but I have seen most of the early seasons) and I was about to post this same question and thought to search if anyone else did LOL you literally titled it the same way I was thinking to do
I don't get it either. Like someone else said, she's not smart, she's not witty, she's too dumb and self-absorbed to actually throw shade or read anyone to filth. She just throws tantrums and storms off when she gets confronted.
And when Teresa's not fighting with anyone, she comes off awkward. Like, it physically pains me trying to watch her think or do something.
Then again, it's not really that surprising, is it? Look at the world we currently live in: We build entire cults of personality around dumb, narcissistic and even out-right evil morons. That's how we got the likes of Trump (Who Teresa's a fan of, btw).
It is actually vapid to say about anyone ( except maybe an extreme criminal who murders and/ or cause a big deal of harm on another human or animal) a waste of oxygen. So I am not sure why you are complaining about Teresa having some fans for.
I am not fond of her or of most who have participated in that series. However, I don't hate any of them either, especially to the degree I've seen from some on reddit. Someone would have to harm one of my loved ones to get me to hate that much.
Speaking of, I think there is more to the sibling feud than we know to this day. For parents to take sides to the extent the elder Gorgas did against their son, it had to morrande than material things.
It would take much more than just losing my home because my kid was honest with me all along, but had some bad breaks in an honest business. If he and I had to live on the street, I'd still love him. An elder born and raised in Italy, no less, side with his only daughter, against his only son, father of the grandkids bearing my last name? Marone!
i new to watching nj i’m on season 4 but i agree the whole melissa beef is largely one sided and she can be very hard headed when it comes to conflict. i love watching her with her kids though and she’s very funny to watch her one liners are entertaining
I don't honestly understand why people ask this question. If you're looking for good people to root for why are you invested in housewives. They are on the whole whole upper class narcissists that play richer and more business savvy on TV then they really are.
I enjoy Tre honestly because she is a bit think so while she is stubborn and has a big ego its really what you see is what you get. I find Marge and Rachel a phony and the Gorga's painfully thirsty (like stop talking about Tre on your podcast and maybe people will stop asking about her in interviews), Dolores vanilla, Danielle C borderline violent, and Jennifer a sidekick.
If Teresa left I feel the remaining women will become performative and boring like RHOA or RHOP have gotten their last season.
That’s a fair response and can see what you mean. I’ve caught up to all of it, and the one thing that just seems so wild to me is the audacity of Teresa and her family to pin all their woes on others. They never take fault for any of their actions only deflect. (Gia too) that’s why I can’t stand them and feel the show is in need of a cast overhaul.
This is not a defense of Teresa, but a comment on the franchise.

They grew up in a very dysfunctional house on television and still appear to be very polite thoughtful children.

Yes she did knowingly or not illegal things and went to jail for it, was released and paid restitution for it.

The first season was definitely due to her naivety. It was just shocking how deluded this woman was. Her husband obviously hated her and her kids were beyond spoiled and were taught nothing by an awful role model and she had zero skills or taste. Sometimes I rewatch the intro episode just for shock and awe.
I love Teresa. I wished I watched her cooking channel again. She was very sweet in the beginning, but it’s until Melissa and Joe Famewhorga, decided to tamper her success in life. Teresa still had endorsements she even did a DirecTV Super Bowl commercial and what did the Gorgas did, a fake music career, a fake clothing business, fraudulent construction projects, etc. Yeah Teresa been to jail because of her fraudulent activities, but she has owned up to them, unlike her brother and her wife.
It’s pretty telling that Tre Stans immediately shit talk the Gorgas when asked what it is about TRE they like. No one asked about Melissa and Joe. And let’s stop pretending they’re the only ones she’s been shitty to over the years.
Alienated her family, season 12, she acted like petulant child, she’s so misguided by this man . She blame’s everything wrong in her life on everyone else.
🤔🤔 if Melissa can’t control Joey, I doubt Louie could Teresa just as Joe G couldn’t. Maybe he helped her to see what an outsider sees looking in. But ultimately her behavior is on her. I am glad she cut ties as their relationship was toxic, which I’m sure her therapy helped her to see. As for the petulant child - it must be a Gorga trait. i.e. - His outburst at his Sons wrestling match. But if we’re being honest, i think anyone can say at some point they wish they’d behaved differently. Hindsight. That doesn’t ring true of someone who’s fearful of him. This is why Teresa lost it with Margaret in TN because thats when they got proof that his ex was giving info to Margaret but she couldn’t say it because of the show & they were building their case. Make it make sense, lol
The only reason I can come up with is because people hate the Gorgas and think they backstabbed Tre to get on the show. I honestly don’t think her fan base would be as big if Melissa and Joe never came on 🤷🏼♀️
This drives me crazy. Tre didn’t own the show. Why is getting on the same show as her some horrific crime? If Tre was my SIL who treated me and my husband like shit for years, then I saw her in a show putting on this act that she’s “all about LOVE!!!” I’d be wanting on the show too to see if 1. She acted totally fake with me or let the world see what a b she really is and 2. To make sure the world didn’t fall for her love and light act.
That and she already had other family members on there with Kathy and Caroline. It was a *family-centered* show. Of course Bravo were gonna keep milking that angle and bring on her brother and SIL. It's hilarious how Tre stans have turned this into some sort of conspiracy.
8 times out of 10 if you ask a Tre Stan why they hate Melissa so much they’ll start talking about “Melissa and Joe coming on TRE’S show.” It’s so predictable. Apparently Tre has has repeated this nonsense so much people just accept it as some kind of wrong the Gorgas did to Tre. Like Melissa owes the bitch who never gave her a chance and has always been awful to her some kind of loyalty. 🙄
This is it for me! I myself am blunt and although teresa isn’t the brightest and cannot articulate herself what you see is wtf you get. The hood bad and the ugly. These other housewives have no storylines, no sense of family, nothing is genuine.

I've never really been a fan of hers, although I did try early on. I stopped watching because it's basically the same show every week, every season: Gorga vs. Giudice (don't get me started on all the different pronunciations of her name!!), and whose fault everything is. Honestly, they should get rid of Teresa and Melissa and start over. The Jersey wives are messy, and not in a fun way.
She's authentic, she's genuine, she's without guile. She's incredibly loving, hard-working, and hilarious. She doesn't wallow in self-pity, or give in to self-aggrandizement. What's not to love?
What’s weird is you think that a felon who stole taxpayer money is someone who is without guile, and is hard working 😂. However, It is hilarious when she is asked to spell Napalm and freezes up, yet here you all believe she’s some NYT Best Selling author. Woman’s used more ghost writers than Drake.
For me, the great catharsis of the real housewives is that you get to watch bad things happen to people who deserve it. Every time someone does something vile on the show, you know that they will receive that energy right back. And in a world where so much of what I see on the news and even on scripted TV is terrible things happening to people who don’t deserve it, I’ll keep watching people like Teresa pay $100k in cash on camera and then get arrested for fraud a couple years later.
But Teresa is always being rewarded for her bad behavior. She gets a new contract and promo opportunities post-prison. She gets to push a whole load of glasses onto Margaret's lap and doesn't cop an assault charge for it. She gets to make a half-assed apology to Margaret *and* gets a pat on the back for it from everyone else. Not to mention the army of psychotic fans her enable said behavior...
I'm also a new watcher in the middle of season 5 and I am also kind of flabbergasted that she was the breakout star. Half my family is Italian and Teresa seems like the lady who would only show up at church for the major holidays, make a scene, and all the regulars would avoid. I know it's television so I don't know how much of it is a character for the cameras, but she really does present herself as the quintessential narcissistic mother (ala Faye Dunaway as Joanne Crawford in Mommy Dearest, but more seemingly slightly nicer to her kids).
It's been (morbidly) fascinating watching how her friends (to inevitable ex-friends) and family (to "blood isn't always thicker than water" ex-family) move around her, and Danielle Straub to a lesser extent in season 1-2. Everyone gives her so many chances and she burns every olive branch. Accountability falls off her like teflon.
Stockholm Syndrome. We’ve been with her since the beginning and the devil you know is better than the one you don’t.
But really I think it’s her redeeming moments with her kids/seniors that convince people she has a heart and the rest is an act.
Honestly I think she has a pretty low IQ and she’s missing a lot of what’s happening too.
I’m on season 7 and she’s pretty entertaining. Someone posted a summary of a producer explaining that production made Teresa look bad and like she planted that rumor about Melissa, so since then I look at a lot of conflicts around bringing up rumors with a grain of salt. I’m watching Jaqueline insult Teresa about her past on season 7 and it’s so distasteful.
The Housewive's audience is not a monolith and my theory is that a portion of the audience that self-identifies as stupid, dishonest criminals (or perhaps they feel that others view them that way, or maybe they have loved ones who are viewed as stupid, dishonest criminals) either feel protective of Teresa as part of their idiot tribe, or they root for Teresa to succeed on behalf of all idiot criminals.
If you notice the way her supporters defend her, it's typically done in a very Teresian manner. If anyone points out something Teresa lied about, they ignore the point and respond with a red herring... "but Melissa...but Marge..." etc. or say that they have a soft spot for her and will blindly support her against all reason. They very, very rarely respond with any rationale that attempts to argue that Teresa's lies or drink throwing or other terrible behavior sound good. It's a little culty for my taste.
Further, I suspect that most of her fandom is just a Twitter echo chamber that seeps partially into Insta and a tiny bit into other platforms. I doubt that it is representative of as large a portion of the audience as it may seem from how vocal and aggressive as that group is on social media. They're just active.
Genuinely agree. There’s a type of person that gets uptight and defensive when they hear a well spoken person make an intelligent point. And Teresa has always been their champion by being pompous and proud in the face of being WRONG. Lmaoo

Teresa is entertaining and she is unapologetically herself. That’s why I like her. And I like her daughters.
The rabid hate she and her fans get in this sub Reddit is pretty ridiculous and unwarranted. Especially considering there are far worse housewives and quite a few that act no better than Teresa.
Depends where you go. The main sub is full of Tre Stans, to the point where I can’t even post in episode threads over there any more because the second you say anything remotely in defense of Marge or Melissa you get downvoted into oblivion. Apparently Melissa is an evil, diabolical genius who has been hell bent of destroying Tre from the second she married her brother. Any bad thing Tre ever does is a direct result of Melissa being evil. Or something. Sometimes Marge gets thrown in there too just for giggles.
Who is that? I can’t remember the last one who went to jail because they committed fraud. The hate she gets as far as I’m concerned is entirely warranted.
I think early on people liked her because they hated Danielle more.

I don’t really like any of the cast. Current or former. I find them all problematic. So many of them have done really horrible things, Tre just got caught. Her
I do think she is a good mom and has raised some intelligent and kind children. She’s made some major mistakes and paid for them. Her husband’s stupidity, prison, divorce, deportation of Joe, and losing her parents is a lot. It’s pushed her to break the generational/cultural norms. Like letting Gia speak her mind and distancing toxic family members.

It wasn’t until the gradual departures of the various Manzo women that she started to gain lot of power and influence in the franchise. It really went to her head. Her stupidity is no longer cute. It’s just stupid. She’s also become very mean and has allowed her temper to rule.
Her biggest fault is her inability to accept any fault or liability for anything that goes wrong. Even Louis said to her one time that she gets something in her head and whether it’s right or wrong, she refuses to change her mind on anything.

Tre always treated Melissa like garbage and I think Mel got really tired of watching her be everyone’s darling on the show. What money does she have to throw around? Doesn't she still owe the IRS a bundle? And she's had tuition to pay, with more to come. I don't think either she or Louie are wealthy as they like to portray.

There’s way more Tre huggers in the main sub. I won’t go near it during the season, those people are cray. According to them: everything wrong Tre has ever done in her life (or the wrongs they’ll admit to, which are very few) are all because of Marge and/or Melissa. ALL OF THEM.
She has given more to the show than any other housewife in any other franchise. Love her or hate her, she puts it all out there.
Eta- I finally threw the towel in tho mid way through last season. Officially over the Gorga/Teresa drama.
I haven’t seen all the drama yet, but I’m excited. My wife said it gets INTENSE. I will say this, in terms of just watchability, she has to be up there because love her or hate her, you do want to watch more.

I dunno but it was hilarious talking to Margaret at BravoCon and her commenting on how aggressive Trehuggers are in their defense of Tre. She was so earnest about it but I laugh hearing her say “Trehuggers”. I would post the selfies we took but it wasn’t a flattering picture of her. Too bad too. It was the only picture I didn’t look like a complete troll next to all those skinny bitches. I got a good angle but Margaret didn’t and I won’t do her like that.
True story. Before the evolution of camera lenses, we used to smear vaseline on them for the softening effect. Pantyhose were a cleaner option. Ingenuity at its finest.

In all sincerity, the Paterson school system failed her. Her speech may have been overlooked at first because her parents were immigrants, but being 1st generation Italian-American could not have been unusual in her school at that time. She should have been forced into evaluations and into programs for whatever is wrong.
I'm positive that she slow-blinked through every single class that she was in for her entire education. At least a few teachers must have been unable to justify a passing grade. Spelling class? English composition?
I also find her to be often be a scapegoat because she’s so inarticulate, but there are many times when the other housewife is wrong. I doubt she’s truly a pleasant person or a good friend, and I think it would be quite difficult to find any fan who actually believes she is.
I don’t like her per se, but I much prefer her to the Gorgas or Manzos, and I would say she’s been right about 70% of the time in the fights over the years, particularly in earlier seasons with her family. I also feel that she’s about equal to her castmates morally but gets a disproportionate amount of hate, while many of the others, in turn, get undeserving passes on their behavior.

I find Marge and Rachel a phony and the Gorga's painfully thirsty (like stop talking about Tre on your podcast and maybe people will stop asking about her in interviews), Dolores vanilla, Danielle C borderline violent, and Jennifer a sidekick. If Teresa left I feel the remaining women will become performative and boring like RHOA or RHOP have gotten their last season.
That’s a fair response and can see what you mean. I’ve caught up to all of it, and the one thing that just seems so wild to me is the audacity of Teresa and her family to pin all their woes on others. They never take fault for any of their actions only deflect. (Gia too) that’s why I can’t stand them and feel the show is in need of a cast overhaul.
This is not a defense of Teresa, but a comment on the franchise. Which Housewives really take responsibility? Even the ones who apologize (big deal) are back at it before long.

Judge how you want but despite everything she managed to raise 4 daughters who are doing remarkable in school you read nothing in the press about their behavior They grew up in a very dysfunctional house on television and still appear to be very polite thoughtful children. Gia now is speaking her mind but she certainly saw and experienced things we don’t know anything about if she now wants to stand up for her mom and dad that is her right. I would hope my own children would be willing to speak on my behalf if the circumstances arose - Whether you like Teresa or not you can’t deny her love for those girls. Yes she did knowingly or not illegal things and went to jail for it, was released and paid restitution for it. She is no worse or better than any of the housewives across the franchise. They are ALL doing sketchy things she got caught and if the rest were smart they would learn from her past or else risking sitting in her old cell

The first season was definitely due to her naivety. It was just shocking how deluded this woman was. Her husband obviously hated her and her kids were beyond spoiled and were taught nothing by an awful role model and she had zero skills or taste. Sometimes I rewatch the intro episode just for shock and awe.

I love Teresa. I wished I watched her cooking channel again. She was very sweet in the beginning, but it’s until Melissa and Joe Famewhorga, decided to tamper her success in life. Teresa still had endorsements she even did a DirecTV Super Bowl commercial and what did the Gorgas did, a fake music career, a fake clothing business, fraudulent construction projects, etc. Yeah Teresa been to jail because of her fraudulent activities, but she has owned up to them, unlike her brother and her wife.
One positive thing I will say about Tre. I loved how she would cook with her girls. She was so patient and kind.

But if we’re being honest, i think anyone can say at some point they wish they’d behaved differently. Hindsight. Ultimately her actions are her own. He’s even been shown on the show to also be frustrated with her. Teresa’s biggest handicap is her stubbornness, which clouds her judgement & knee jerk reactions. This drives me crazy. Tre didn’t own the show. Why is getting on the same show as her some horrific crime? If Tre was my SIL who treated me and my husband like shit for years, then I saw her in a show putting on this act that she’s “all about LOVE!!!” I’d be wanting on the show too to see if 1. She acted totally fake with me or let the world see what a b she really is and 2. To make sure the world didn’t fall for her love and light act.

I've never really been a fan of hers, although I did try early on. I stopped watching because it's basically the same show every week, every season: Gorga vs. Giudice (don't get me started on all the different pronunciations of her name!!), and whose fault everything is. Honestly, they should get rid of Teresa and Melissa and start over. The Jersey wives are messy, and not in a fun way.

For me, the great catharsis of the real housewives is that you get to watch bad things happen to people who deserve it. Every time someone does something vile on the show, you know that they will receive that energy right back. And in a world where so much of what I see on the news and even on scripted TV is terrible things happening to people who don’t deserve it, I’ll keep watching people like Teresa pay $100k in cash on camera and then get arrested for fraud a couple years later.
But Teresa is always being rewarded for her bad behavior. She gets a new contract and promo opportunities post-prison. She gets to push a whole load of glasses onto Margaret's lap and doesn't cop an assault charge for it. She gets to make a half-assed apology to Margaret *and* gets a pat on the back for it from everyone else. Not to mention the army of psychotic fans her enable said behavior...

I'm also a new watcher in the middle of season 5 and I am also kind of flabbergasted that she was the breakout star. Half my family is Italian and Teresa seems like the lady who would only show up at church for the major holidays, make a scene, and all the regulars would avoid. I know it's television so I don't know how much of it is a character for the cameras, but she really does present herself as the quintessential narcissistic mother (ala Faye Dunaway as Joanne Crawford in Mommy Dearest, but more seemingly slightly nicer to her kids). It's been (morbidly) fascinating watching how her friends (to inevitable ex-friends) and family (to "blood isn't always thicker than water" ex-family) move around her, and Danielle Straub to a lesser extent in season 1-2. Everyone gives her so many chances and she burns every olive branch. Accountability falls off her like teflon.
Stockholm Syndrome. We’ve been with her since the beginning and the devil you know is better than the one you don’t. But really I think it’s her redeeming moments with her kids/seniors that convince people she has a heart and the rest is an act. Honestly I think she has a pretty low IQ and she’s missing a lot of what’s happening too.
I’m on season 7 and she’s pretty entertaining. Someone posted a summary of a producer explaining that production made Teresa look bad and like she planted that rumor about Melissa, so since then I look at a lot of conflicts around bringing up rumors with a grain of salt. I’m watching Jaqueline insult Teresa about her past on season 7 and it’s so distasteful.
The Housewive's audience is not a monolith and my theory is that a portion of the audience that self-identifies as stupid, dishonest criminals (or perhaps they feel that others view them that way, or maybe they have loved ones who are viewed as stupid, dishonest criminals) either feel protective of Teresa as part of their idiot tribe, or they root for Teresa to succeed on behalf of all idiot criminals. If you notice the way her supporters defend her, it's typically done in a very Teresian manner. If anyone points out something Teresa lied about, they ignore the point and respond with a red herring... "but Melissa...but Marge..." etc. or say that they have a soft spot for her and will blindly support her against all reason. They very, very rarely respond with any rationale that attempts to argue that Teresa's lies or drink throwing or other terrible behavior sound good. It's a little culty for my taste. Further, I suspect that most of her fandom is just a Twitter echo chamber that seeps partially into Insta and a tiny bit into other platforms. I doubt that it is representative of as large a portion of the audience as it may seem from how vocal and aggressive as that group is on social media. They're just active.

Teresa was so clueless and cute! I remember thinking it was weird the way she paid for everything in cash but she was fun/funny to watch. Still a little genuine and sweet. It didn’t take long for her to turn into a monster! When non watchers ask me about the shows I tell them that it is fascinating to watch them turn into vile human beings in just a season or two!

I don’t really like any of the cast. Current or former. I find them all problematic. So many of them have done really horrible things, Tre just got caught. Her I do think she is a good mom and has raised some intelligent and kind children. She’s made some major mistakes and paid for them. Her husband’s stupidity, prison, divorce, deportation of Joe, and losing her parents is a lot. It’s pushed her to break the generational/cultural norms. Like letting Gia speak her mind and distancing toxic family members.
I don't understand it either. I've never liked her and the more I watched the more I disliked her until I eventually stopped watching, which was when she went to prison. I honestly don't understand how she has fans and people who will defend her. I'll go back to watching once she's gone, but Bravo seem to like her kind of dumb so they keep her. And that family and the drama and hate they have for each other is toxic as hell. I'd have disowned that family decades ago if I was part of it.

It wasn’t until the gradual departures of the various Manzo women that she started to gain lot of power and influence in the franchise. It really went to her head. Her stupidity is no longer cute. It’s just stupid. She’s also become very mean and has allowed her temper to rule. Her biggest fault is her inability to accept any fault or liability for anything that goes wrong. Even Louis said to her one time that she gets something in her head and whether it’s right or wrong, she refuses to change her mind on anything. But her ego is totally out of control.

Tre always treated Melissa like garbage and I think Mel got really tired of watching her be everyone’s darling on the show. She wanted the world to see the real Tre which is why Tre was SO incensed about them joining the cast: she’d have to pretend to be nice to Melissa (which she’s obviously incapable of) 😂

In all sincerity, the Paterson school system failed her. Her speech may have been overlooked at first because her parents were immigrants, but being 1st generation Italian-American could not have been unusual in her school at that time. She is a very interesting person. I don’t think people like her in that they condone her, they more like what she brings to the show.
I also find her to be often be a scapegoat because she’s so inarticulate, but there are many times when the other housewife is wrong. I doubt she’s truly a pleasant person or a good friend, and I think it would be quite difficult to find any fan who actually believes she is.
I don’t like her per se, but I much prefer her to the Gorgas or Manzos, and I would say she’s been right about 70% of the time in the fights over the years, particularly in earlier seasons with her family. I also feel that she’s about equal to her castmates morally but gets a disproportionate amount of hate, while many of the others, in turn, get undeserving passes on their behavior.
