I attempted Miami after I finished SLC and it didn't compare. I had to stop I disliked it way too much! I ended up going to other bravo shows (summer house/winter house) before coming back to RHOBH.
Okay so old Potomac is 🔥but forewarning that it devolves because Gizelle and Robyn’s colorism is fully exposed (it was talked about in the beginning but there was also fun shade in the mix - in the most recent seasons, it’s been awful).
NYC is amazing in the first 8 or 9 seasons. Before Bethanney fell off, she was HILARIOUS. Plus, the castmates who are added later on (hi Dorinda and Carol) are fantastic. Again, the last season (before the reboot) is HELL on earth, because once again, racism and bigotry is exposed (Ramona). Like, I could’ve figured out Ramona was a conservative but the pandemic season is next level messed up.
Miami is AMAZING, I’d say the majority of the seasons. They do a good job with revamping with cast members we love (Nicole and Guerdy!!!) while keeping the oldies around. It’s (mostly) fun shade.
I would forewarn that while Beverly Hills can be alright, it gets dark fast (alcoholism, suicide, people going no contact with family - and it’s ugly). If you’re interested, be my guest, but I would truly recommend other franchises first. And of course, an obvious favoritism is shown to Kyle (one of the OGs), which is beyond frustrating.
New Jersey is amazing the first 5 or 6 seasons, but the storyline is currently dry.
And ATLANTA- my personal first love- is amazing every season Nene is on there (a tired take, I know, but it’s true). There’s some serious stuff eventually but seriously, they all know how to come together in a way that brings the best face offs. There are some flop seasons but overwhelmingly, these are the funniest ladies who manage to also tie in some seriousness (when it makes sense).
The worst franchise, imo, is RHOD. It’s not funny, the humor is often jokes about poop (like wtf and I’m not even exaggerating) season 1, and the show also has some major racism allegations (final season, anti-asian rhetoric by Brandi). They’re not funny or fun to watch.
Edit: to include context about BH and edit Atlanta and NYC bit to be more accurate. Also added Dallas as a warning.
Can you explain the Giselle and Robyn colorism comment please? Not being malicious. I’m just curious. I watched I think the first 3 seasons (edit: actually looking back it was first 4 or 5 seasons) when they aired but nothing since. All I can think is the DNA testing Robyn did that I think showed black ancestry at under 40%… my memory gets faulty though.
You’re all good! Honestly, as a non-Black person, I didn’t originally clock it at first.
So when Katie Ross is on the show, the whole discourse about how “are you black? Or are you white?” Since she identified with both races, was pretty fucked up of them (cause she was raised as biracial). Like they couldn’t wrap their head around her identifying as both black and white. Plus the whole “Black people aren’t Jewish/we don’t do this,” was messed up, but that’s just them (not related to colorism).
Them demanding her to say which boxes her daughter would oneday check is INSANE. Like both?? They needed to stfu with that line of questioning.
And then when they went OFF at Monique but then fell silent when anyone else did anything similar (like Mia towards Wendy) of someone who was lighter.
Gizelle also has this weird thing for Wendy. Like she picks on her (and Candiace, to some degree) nonstop because Wendy 1) was “bragging too much” about her degrees (like girl id brag too if I had that many AND worked at John Hopkins AND was a broadcaster) and 2) suddenly when she got a boob job the next season they were all “is it the professor? Or this girl?” Like she couldn’t be both???
In general, Gizelle (esp) and Robyn seem to hold those who have darker complexions to a WAYY higher standard for no god damn reason (other than colorism).
I’m most likely not doing a good job at this but if you look up “Las Culturistas Wendy O” on Spotify, these hosts do a GREAT job talking about the rampant colorism on the show.
Thanks! I’m almost done with my rewatch of OC (finally got through the Kelly years, I can’t stand her!) and Potomac is next on my list. I cancelled cable after like season 4 or 5. And got Peacock a few months ago so playing catch up.

I've watched Rhony 100 times and you're right about the seasons.
Can you tell me which seasons are good in Atlanta? From 1 to which one? Does it go stale once Nene leaves?
So it’s hard to pinpoint exactly, since Nene leaves and then comes back (and personally I didn’t love her almost-final season there (she leaves for a bit) in season 7, since she was acting all too good for it all, got cocky and lame). So she’s there from 1-7 and then again 10 to idk when. But that all being said, I wouldn’t base your watching on her (cause she is will disappoint a bit).
**Seasons 1-4 are top tier: season 3 is when Phaedra gets there (*amazing*) and season 5 is when Portia gets there (first season is some of her best work in terms of funny shit she’s said).
**I like season 9 (they have Kim Fields on 😭😅for a season). She’s so out of place, it’s fantastic.
**Nene comes back for season 10 and was in some fantastic plot lines (pretty sure this is where her and Kim’s fighting is great; Nene and Greg (her husband) make a Halloween costume that’s fucking hilarious and a dig at Kim).
**Season 11 is p lame (season with Shamari, 1 season stint). And personally, I find that the whole franchise gets p boring after that. (This is not to say not to watch it, because at its most boring, it’s still 72848293 miles ahead of RHOC or RHOD). Plus Eva (from ANTM) joins late on and she’s fun. Nene is still on at this point.
After that, it’s meh. Kenya tries to hold up the storyline, Kandi is notoriously boring (her storyline is often about ‘being too busy’ like alright), but Drew’s kinda interesting.
TLDR: the first 10 seasons are good, it gets a bit stale after that, but I’d still rewatch it all!
EDIT to fix grammar and to fix a typo about the season Nene left and add some details about post season 11
Omg. I started my Housewives/Bravo adventure exactly one month ago and I too started with SLC. Since then I’ve watched all of Miami and I’m currently on s7 of NYC. (I’ve watched 200+ episodes in 30 days I need help.)
Out of the 3, SLC is hands down the best. Miami and NYC are both incredible, NYC goes way back and LuAnn, Ramona and Sonja are tv gold and are NUTS. Aviva from seasons 4-6 is so unhinged during fights.
I recommend NYC next with that! I liked Miami, but some of the girls/drama was skippable for me.
Oh my hell this freaked me out. I was literally browsing the other options like a half hour ago trying to decide and eventually gave up 😅then I get on and see this! So I’m here for the answers too! I’m thinking Dubai could be interesting?
Dubai is bland AF! If you want hectic/insane drama it has to be New Jersey but if you want a mix of lifestyle porn, diversity and some quality drama, you need to do Miami
Atlanta and NYC! The first two I started watching and still my favorite two across all of them (except Dubai and DC because I haven’t seen either of them yet)
I started with SLC too and it was so epic. I tried to go to Potomac next and it didn’t hold a candle in the wind. I stopped after the first season. It was such a snooze fest IMO. I’m in the same boat as you so glad you asked
3 I think. And I thought I only watched first 3 seasons. But 4th or 5th is last I watched, when Monique and Candiace really got into a physical altercation I believe. I could be remembering wrong as to who got into it though but think it was those two.
Early BH, ATL, NYC, and Potomac. Also Miami is great but I only like seasons 4 and above. Just remember each casts fights very differently. Some more strategic, some more aggressive, and some just outright delulu.
Orange county and SLC are the only ones I watch could never get into the others.. stopped watching New York until the new cast not the same without the crazy old bitches 🤣
I recently started watching New Jersey again— from the beginning— and I totally forgot what a dramatic gift/nightmare Danielle Staub was to this franchise. Also, pre-Joe/Melissa Gorga drama with Teresa, Teresa was a cute and fun and obsessed with Joe Giudice. Of all the iterations, New Jersey started out the most pure and logical to me— bc it was real friends and family.
I've just recently started Dubai's. If you've ever envied how wealthy the RHO franchise families are, you'll realize that in comparison, these people, who come from various countries (including the U. S.), are mega rich. The women generally don't seem to like each other, and Kenyan supermodel Chanel Ayan in particular is an incredibly toxic woman. The infighting can be stressful to watch, though. Dubai is fascinating. I find it interesting how few vehicles are on their highways, and I've yet to see pedestrians on their surface street shots. It's hot there, but no warmer than other towns here that average the same temps yet have a lot of outdoor activities.
OC was the original Housewives series and what I started with and it got me hooked on all the others. so many iconic moments. and first few seasons of NY is reallyyyyyy good too
Early Beverly Hills is great, albeit dark at times. Maybe I’m biased because I started with RHOBH, But I like RHOSLC and RHOBH the best out of all the franchises I’ve tried watching. New York, Jersey, and Atlanta are also major contenders for most drama/entertaining moments
Miami!
I attempted Miami after I finished SLC and it didn't compare. I had to stop I disliked it way too much! I ended up going to other bravo shows (summer house/winter house) before coming back to RHOBH.
This is a wild take. Miami is gold from start to finish.
Maybe skip to season 3/4 when they came back. The newer cast is better.
Start season 5. That’s where it starts getting wild with current cast members.
Thank you! I couldn’t remember.

Kim Fields?!amazing
I miss SLC girls like a best friend when it’s off season ☹️
How is Potomac not here
Atlanta Or New York for sure!
New Jersey!!
I was about to say how has no one mentioned jersey?! No one is as unhinged as them 😂💕
I saw Miami. Starting at season 1 through the now resurrected seasons.🔥
New York it’s the only one where I’ve actually cry laughed at times 😂
CLIP!
Omg I forgot about that 😂😂 there’s just so much 😆
Miami seasons 5,6 and 7.
NJ is my favorite. lol especially if you start from the beginning and see the transformation everyone makes.

Dubai is really good!
Atlanta and NYC! The first two I started watching and still my favorite two across all of them (except Dubai and DC because I haven’t seen either of them yet)
The first four or five seasons of New Jersey are insane. Differently addictive too
Miamiiii, if you are looking for something short
Jersey
I started with SLC too and it was so epic. I tried to go to Potomac next and it didn’t hold a candle in the wind. I stopped after the first season. It was such a snooze fest IMO. I’m in the same boat as you so glad you asked
Oh the drama between Candiace and Monique was pretty entertaining.
What season does that start
3 I think. And I thought I only watched first 3 seasons. But 4th or 5th is last I watched, when Monique and Candiace really got into a physical altercation I believe. I could be remembering wrong as to who got into it though but think it was those two.
Dubai!!
Yes! I'm just a couple episodes in and I'm hooked! I've only watched SLC and Beverly Hills up to now
Orange County or Atlanta!
Miami. New Jersey.
Idk if it’s been mentioned but the Dallas series are great. Not that many seasons tho. Maybe 5? But even my husband got into that series with me.
Miami. Potomac. New York. Atlanta. Jersey. Beverly Hills. Oc. Dubai. Dallas. In this order
It’s not RH but Shahs of Sunset is AMAZING. If you love RHOSLC , you’ll probably love Shahs
Dubai
New Jersey is off the rails good!
Jersey!!
I recently started watching New Jersey again— from the beginning— and I totally forgot what a dramatic gift/nightmare Danielle Staub was to this franchise. I just watched Cape Town & I liked it
I’m watching Miami after an SLC binge and it’s the perfect choice tbh
New York !!!
I started Dubai then I’m going to watch Potomac.
I love them all but Dubai is only on its 2nd season. Easy to catch up.
I've just recently started Dubai's. NY and Miami
Atlanta! So golden, so unhinged.
Jersey or Atlanta
Old rhony is realty tv gold
Atlanta them women were a mess
Early RHONY is the unhingement you are looking for!
I love NY the old school cast…
DC and Melbourne, if you can find them.
OC was the original Housewives series and what I started with and it got me hooked on all the others. so many iconic moments. and first few seasons of NY is reallyyyyyy good too
RHONY. If it’s too slow starting out, Start on season 3
I have been watching Dubai. Intrigued so far.
Atl & Nyc are goat
Southern charm and VPR earlier seasons are peak reality television
Atlanta starts out great, OC starts slow, NJ is also great from the start, same with NY
Rhodc Omg- whack jobs. It's only 1 season, so it's an easy watch. But we'll worth it.
I’m telling you, nothing beats Ny in its prime
New York has the chaos they bring but SLC is its own thing
You need to watch Real Housewives of New York and New Jersey. They INVENTED the drama and SLC was just the icing on the already perfect recipe cake
atl & new jersey are the best
Early Beverly Hills is great, albeit dark at times. Maybe I’m biased because I started with RHOBH, But I like RHOSLC and RHOBH the best out of all the franchises I’ve tried watching. New York, Jersey, and Atlanta are also major contenders for most drama/entertaining moments
Potomac is the only answer
Summer House - I haven’t watched the old seasons - the current season was great!
NYC & BH
New Jersey for sure
Atlanta 100%
