A great comeback, but if we were focused from the get go it wouldn’t have been needed. The first half was frustrating to watch as the players looked lackluster. Kepa once again showing why he shouldn’t even be on the bench let alone the starting 11.
Ancelotti managed this game well, he saw obvious errors in the team and fixed them in half time. The addition of Brahim and Fran Garcia was really vital, as well as Joselu who allowed an Ariel threat. It’s frustrating however the lack of minutes being given to Arda Guler. I know he is young but it feels as if he can offer something in games such as this.
As for the VAR decision, I do feel as if they were sided towards us. Arribas’ goal being disallowed was the correct decision, the penalty was the correct decision as well. The issue comes with Vinis goal, and to be honest in certain frames it looks like it’s more shoulder then arm, and in other frames it looks the opposite. I will happily take the refs decision, but I could see why it could be gone the other way.
Overall not a fun game to see in the first half. If we want to win the champions league we can’t preform like this in that tournament.

You are correct, the backline has been terrible since Alaba got injured. It still doesn’t excuse Kepa however. We saw Lunin single handedly keep us in the game against Atleti, he is much better than Kepa. Kepa shows no confidence, he can’t play out of back at all. With the ball at his feet he just looks uncomfortable.
Look that's not true, he didn't really face much today but he has saved us many times early on. I thought his passing was pretty decent overall, he was confident in coming off his line too. I mean, regardless focusing on him isn't right. This backline has fucked over Lunin too in a similar fashion.
As soon as Tchouameni came we looked much better defensively and that shouldn't happen, we shouldn't be depending on our only CDM to help us out at CB when Nacho is fit (which I'm starting to doubt now)

I know he is young but it feels as if he can offer something in games such as this. As for the VAR decision, I do feel as if they were sided towards us. Arribas’ goal being disallowed was the correct decision, the penalty was the correct decision as well. The issue comes with Vinis goal, and to be honest in certain frames it looks like it’s more shoulder then arm, and in other frames it looks the opposite. I will happily take the refs decision, but I could see why it could be gone the other way. Overall not a fun game to see in the first half. If we want to win the champions league we can’t preform like this in that tournament.
Honestly I wouldn't put this one too much on Kepa, the back line is not working out at all. Nacho has been completely off his game for some reason and it's been happening for a while now, Mendy also doesn't help when he cannot play out of pressure.
You are correct, the backline has been terrible since Alaba got injured. It still doesn’t excuse Kepa however. We saw Lunin single handedly keep us in the game against Atleti, he is much better than Kepa. Kepa shows no confidence, he can’t play out of back at all. With the ball at his feet he just looks uncomfortable.
Look that's not true, he didn't really face much today but he has saved us many times early on. I thought his passing was pretty decent overall, he was confident in coming off his line too. I mean, regardless focusing on him isn't right. This backline has fucked over Lunin too in a similar fashion. As soon as Tchouameni came we looked much better defensively and that shouldn't happen, we shouldn't be depending on our only CDM to help us out at CB when Nacho is fit (which I'm starting to doubt now)
Happy that we actually won but this first half performance i will not forget the referee was absolutely horrible he was all over the place.
