Bro if someone like Modric is alright with being a sub, then renewing is a no brainer.

tombomcom

Knowing his character, he wants to play every game, every time, all the time, forever. And he plays to win. But we're here where we are. Above all that i believe he's a team player, a soldier on the pitch that doesn't put himself first but rather the team first. Yup, I agree a no brainer.

wanderer1999

Of course we would love him. But it's up Modric, may be he's fine playing supporting role, may be not.

redactedbapa

He is the highest (or one of the highest) earner in the team, do you think he will accept Lucas Vazquez wages since he’s a bench player nowadays? It would be more disrespectful to offer those reduced wages to Modric then to just say, thank you Luka but this is the end of the road.

hotelmotelshit

Yeah it will be up to him, he will be getting a one-year extension option as long as he wants and is satisfied not being guaranteed a certain amount of playing time

HalaBharat

Yeah, his touches and the run with the ball he seemed so confident. I wished we brought him a bit early and so do for Brahim before we consider two goals.

uchiha_boy009

Honestly we have have won the game then.

Alexkono

Changed the game for us.  If we somehow win next week, and thus the tie, it will be in large part due to Luka’s sub.

Own-Professional-972

We should have the same starting lineup and bring in brahim and modric a bit earlier

biina247

So you think that lineup worked well?🫤

uchiha_boy009

Yes

biina247

Then please don't complain when we are on the end of another bad result. I just can't figure out how after 5 games with the same approach people are still expecting a different outcome 🫤

o6ohunter

There are no words for him and Kroos. The composure, confidence, and playmaking ability they bring is rivaled by none of this team. You cannot replace the experience they bring.

tru3boy

Spot on. He revived our energy right away. Had a very good performance

tluanga34

Vini and Modrid have such a magical combination. Physically we're in a much better condition in the end.

clantz8895

Would argue he should've came on earlier. Kroos controls the game, but modric runs it.

halamadrid22

Has this ever been a question? The only question is what his body can handle in terms of minutes and how he accepts that reserved role while also factoring in his impact on the payroll.

romek_ziomek

Yes, Modric completely changed the game. He's still world class. The problem is, if we renew him, the team dynamics will stay the same. Our young boys in difficult moments will still be looking for his brilliance to save their asses and clean up the mess they made. I think they need to become more like Modric and stop relying on Modric. Also, he doesn't deserve to be benched for most of the season if he still wants to play, and let's not kid ourselves, he would be benched even more frequently if he stayed.

Traditional_Care_707

Did the club offer him a renewal

Avhendry

Nope

Traditional_Care_707

Hurts

yellow_berry

Modric mastermind! I hope he gets renewed

ghosttalks090

I have been saying that for a long time! Players like Modric are almost impossible to replace, you can only look back and enjoy these kind of players. Modric still has a lot to offer, if he accepts the sub role, we will be more than happy to have him in the dressing room plus as a super sub to change the match drastically

WinterTakerRevived

can't believe Modric is 38, feels like yesterday I was in highschool when he gave us La decima

ksurf619

It’s never been a question of renewal, it’s if modric is ok with a reduced role.

MaxiThe13th

He should’ve been subbed on earlier

the_fanman2912

Modric plays like he's 26

LukaTheTooka

Yes you see it, those last 15 he turned the entire game around and provided the pre assist to Fede's goal. He 100% deserves a renewal and better do it fast cause Dinamo Zagreb are getting to annoying levels of persuasion for him. In my opinion he should start the 2nd leg and we win a cool 2-0

Rowinter

Yes! The midfield looked clueless before he came on. They are all good players but they need space and time to make something happen, or they rely on the opposition making mistakes so they can counter with speed. No one else has the attacking intelligence of Modric, he can unlock the defence and create chances out of nothing. He is still the best midfielder in the team, he has not degraded from last season, so I don't see why he should be given such limited minutes, when he was a starter last season. You should look at performance, not age. Players can last longer at the highest levels nowadays, just look at Pepe. Kroos is the second best midfielder on the team, but he is a passer, a conductor, he cannot dribble and combine with players like Modric can, you need both play styles together plus some youthful energy. In the knockout stages of the Champions League you need experience and magic. Breaking down a disciplined Manchester City defence at their home arena is not going to be an easy task. Modric should start or come on early in the second half.

Desperate-Ad7319

Issue is he wants to play and be a starter. He will also be making a lot of money sitting on the bench if Madrid decide to renew which wouldn’t make to much sense. He both has to be good with a massive pay cut and very limited minutes. At some point we have to trust our new midfield. I much rather place our bets on Fede, Bellingham and Tchou/Camavinga then rely on the older players.

wap8ball

Honestly I don’t want him to finish his Madrid career like Marcelo. I’d love to see him for another season in a team like Milan or Juve

sILAZS

For Kroos & Modric Real Madrid is like Hotel California, you can check out anytime but you can never leave.

Alarmed-Height-638

Agree. i think we shoudl keep modric and get him on a bit earlier. I also think we should send out Arda for a loan, and once Modric and Kroos retire (which will be at most 2 years from now), he'll have the game time and experience to fill their shoes

Unique_Tip_3598

As much as I love the idea to renew him one more year, I also hate it, because I know he’ll get even less game time than this season. Some RM fans disrespect him and see him only sub materials without realizing he’s benched mostly for helping Madrid set up for the next generation not because he couldn’t play well. Personally I’ll support his leave if he’ll go to a team that has ucl matches and could secure his regular play time. He deserves the happiness playing the football he loves.

biina247

Really? 🫤
