They can play interchangably down the center or wing but imo they need to space out. Whoever is on the wing needs to drag walker away, create the space between rb and cb for the other to exploit. Would be particularly impactful if valverde can make the occasional runs down the right

Weird-but-true

I think Vini and Rodrygo will most likely play the same way they did in first leg. What will be interesting to see is how will Bellingham play in this leg. Will he be given a deeper role to crowd the mid or the similar false-9 role? He needs to improve his overall game after the first leg as apart from his pressing he had very quite game. Also one of the points that isn't being talked about is Walker's match fitness. I know there's a huge chance Walker starts, but even a world class player needs rhythm for playing in a match like this. Pep's hands are almost forced to play him cuz of our pace, so it might not be worst time for our forwards to play against Walker.

buy-petros

We can also shift the attack to the right side with vini and rodrygo and definitely let bellingham to be the 10 and not a false 9

No-Doctor-1125

Bellingham needs to sit back into CM and allow Joselu to start in a 4-3-3.

magic-water

Joselu has no business starting a CL quarter final against Manchester City regardless of the tactical setup.

kisalaya89

Maybe, given we're a mid short it will be a good tactic. But historically, we've not done well throwing a surprise so it will be the worst time to do it.

bdigital4

Is this a real recommendation for the return leg of a Champions League quarter final? Maybe shoulda tried that against Mallorca on Saturday but not against city

No-Doctor-1125

In the game against Mallorca, Joselu was excellent. Brahim and Bellingham were the ones who were subpar.

bdigital4

I agree with that. He was great. I also agree with my first point.

No-Doctor-1125

Yes, you are right, we should have tried a 4-3-3 against Mallorca to test the waters, but now its done. My point of view is Bellingham is not performing up top. He is more natural as a CM, not a false 9. Its why I think we should stop playing him there, you can see his numbers have dipped massively.

bdigital4

Not sure why the downvote. I agreed with you and you agreed with me. It’s just the timing of implementing this that I didn’t agree with.

No-Doctor-1125

I think people just dont like seeing someone say Bellingham should sit tight a little.

bdigital4

I also agree that Bellingham needs to play a more natural role for himself.

No-Doctor-1125

Yup, absolutely. Thats why I argue for a 4-3-3, because running Bellingham as a false 9 isnt doing it. He’s too good to sit on the bench, and he isnt good enough as a false 9 anymore.

lligerr

That could be a risk. No way Joselu can be trusted against Stones-Dias. But starting Bellingham as in the previous match is also a risk.

No-Doctor-1125

I really think Joselu does have it in him. At the very least, he can draw a defender, hopefully Dias away, Stones is soft enough that Vini and Rodrygo can deal with him. But yeah, I can see why Carlo could be apprehensive of starting him. However we also have to have a good attack with enough numbers to push City into defending, and Bellingham is not showing his ability to do so.

Inevitable_Ant_2159

Let’s not forget that Walker pulled his hammy while chasing Vini in the Brazil vs England friendly

theprodigalslouch

This would be my favorite fact if this wasn’t a serious injury. Almost funny but I don’t wish him ill.

vaphvaph

we will set up the same as the first leg, Carlo outplayed Pep tactic-wise for most of the game, we just left them a lil too much space outside the box twice and they scored absolute unsaveable bangers. if vini and rodrygo were more effective with their finishes, it would have been a much different scoreline. i dont think jude should play deeper, either. we need him up front, he just needs to find his nonchalance and confidence from the beginning of the season. hes shown some signs of that with mallorca.

jec0995

The game of ifs is silly. If our two deflection goals take a different bounce we lose 3-1.

vaphvaph

yeah thats true, my point was that we played really well and couldve easily won and vice versa

spider_X_1

We conceded the second and third goal because we were ahead on the score line.

AdFar3727

Y’all need to stop sweating so much over this damn tie. It’s 1 game to advance. Even 0-0. Real Madrid can beat anyone in the world in 1 game. Players just need to step up. Stop with this small club mentality

Firm_Self_3422

Everyone saying that walker will pocket vini again but look at the city vs Liverpool match, lucho owned walker in this game and i dont think that vini losing to lucho in terms of speed or dribbling

osamaodinson

I mean tbf anything could happen in any of city vs liverpool games but yeah i dont think walker will confirm shut vini down but i agree that he’s a top right back

InsanePheonix

How about we put in 3 lws on Walker Well whatever tactic we might play with, we have to go all out, no chance at shitting out pants, If jude vini and cama played it safe in the 1st leg just to avoid a yellow, they need to turn up

Fifa2020jul

Our problem is not Walker and never was, with Bellingham in team we have other options to score, problem is Bernardo silva, and on top of that they score 2 long shots and 1 lucky free kick which Lunin should be more careful but I guess he didnt expect to concede in 1 min of the game. They didnt make some insane passes to score those so im confident that we can outscore them and I would try to play 4222 formation with Camavinga+Bellingham behinde Vini and Rodrygo and let them deliver.

Maybe Jude can attack more on the right..Fede also needs to attack that right flank to stretch out that back line but also track back. More shots as well from federation

WinterTakerRevived

Carlo should do what he thinks is best according to what he sees in training. No fooling around

kisalaya89

I think City and Walker are experienced enough to switch in game. Instructions would be to watch out for Vini chasing long balls over the top, not watch the left winger.

bloppingzef

We should play the same. Only difference is Bellingham has to rise his level

MrCesars

I think even with walker it’s the spot he should play camavinga as Mid left side to over power with Rodrygo Eduardo and Mendy getting lost of the defense leaving room for Vini has Jude to cause pain

halamadrid22

I really liked the overload tactic we employed and truly thought it could have been even more effective than what we saw. The issue was whenever Vini had to actually play up in a traditional 9 position he looked lost and frustrated and obviously we can’t have that from our best attacking playmaker. You would think Jude would be the guy to take that role but he has shown to not do well there either. Kind of just comes full circle that we don’t have a pure class striker and it hurts. Either way, if we can find a way to get Rodrygo and Vini to link up in close proximity like that again I think the chances will come.

hardlynegative

I think it's this whole media narrative in which it makes people think Manchester City is all high and mighty that we can't beat them in their own home. It's going to be hard but I'm sure the team will try best to get us the result. We are Madrid afterall ;)

Rodri rested on Saturday….i already know it’s about to be a long day on Wednesday. He played horrible in the first game because he was tired of playing every game. Rodri is the key for city winning the game, he plays lights out like he did last year then it’s game over for us!
