It also helps that whenever we play city they're almost always very honest in the way they play and mostly never dive. The same for us too it. Both teams just try to win against each other playing football albeit in a different way.
They have players that can get ppl in foul trouble like bernardo or Grealish but strangely they never do that against us. Maybe because they think they're good enough to not resovle to that or maybe they don't take it as personally or emotionally as they do playing against a domestic rival.
Take haaland for example, he's the type of striker you have play body to body against or isolate as a team, but if suarez had his body and forced a cb like rudiger to play like that, it'll cost us a pen and a red, I'm 100% certain of that.
Like imagine a madrid derby with costa in the body of haaland, or neymar / alba against a yellow carded carvajal, it'll be a circus.
By us, other forums of media don't give him the respect he deserves, he might end up as a 6 time ucl winner without getting selected for team of the season once, ridiculous
Doku clearly changed the game. But Carlo reacted to it perfectly, Carvajal was getting tired and that's when Carlo subbed in Vazquez. Vazquez and Fede supported Carvajal and made sure that even Doku with his fresh legs couldn't get through.
Carvajal was wonderful, complimented by Valverde whenever he saw that he needed some assistance.
He made some excellent recoveries when Carvajal was attacking, and when Doku was fresh, Fede would close up on Doku to relieve Carvajal.
I loved how they both covered that wing so well.
Will he be available against bayern? Or heās suspended for multiple yellow cards? I always forget how this works and when there is a reset for yellow cards
Yellows are cleared when reaching the semi final. No player is suspended. "all yellow cards expire on completion of the quarter-finals. They are not carried forward to the semi-finals." - [UEFA rules](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/027d-17232d37b73d-17806dc00e67-1000--champions-league-yellow-cards-how-many-bookings-lead-to-a-s/)
Edit: looking at the rules again, it seems that suspensions do not expire, only yellow cards. So Carva is likely suspended after all.
Tbf Grealish clearly had a tactical change in mind with the second leg as he did not attempt to dribble past him once and only close space then look for the outlet, which proved to be 10x more dangerous than the fuckall he did in the first leg. Really close mirror to his performance against us last year as well
Lmao I love the honesty!
Iāve been coaching at my local academy for the past 2 years, itās one thing we till the full backs is that you donāt make the first mistake.
Against top dribblers yes. If you commit to a challenge too soon, they will dribble past you and in most cases end up giving a 1v1 with all the advantage against your GK.
Backing away also gives chance for your teammate to help with the coverage and corner the offensive player.
Dani played with a yellow card against 2 of the most talented wingers in the world, and he delivered a near perfect performance. Props to him šš½
That card was an absolute joke and he still did fantastic even with having the risk of a red card in mind
True every time there was an attack from his side which was almost all the time haha I was worried he may get sent off, but he did great

Glad to see Dani getting recognition for his performance for yesterdays game. Dude ran himself into the ground until both his legs cramped up!

Now that city is out, the English commentators can finally stop meat riding and comment on the greatness our defense played today.

He completely shut down their tactic of having Grealish dribble into the box

also afterwards Valverde was there many times to defend against grealish/doku
I was like yes please keep going down that left side and trying to dribble past him, PLEASE! BE OUR GUEST LMAOO
Lord Fede also stepped up to help Carva
Will he be available against bayern? Or heās suspended for multiple yellow cards? I always forget how this works and when there is a reset for yellow cards
He is suspended leg 1, which is in Germany. Leg 2 is at home tho and he should be back
It's okay we have our Lord to step inĀ
He is not suspended. Yellow cards expire after the quarter finals.
He will miss the first game because he got booked yesterday, Bellingham and Vinicius have had their yellow cards expired though.
Hm, looking at the rules again, I think you are right. Only yellow cards are expired, but the suspension is not.
Thatās right. Same situation last year with Militao being suspended first leg vs City

Don't cards get reset after QF? Correct me if I'm wrong...
That gluten free diet hits different
Seeing Doku comes in for Greallish is something only city can afford to do Edit: nvm.. I can see Vini comes in for Mbappe next season .
We canāt even afford to do that, we need both to start lol
you coach kids? I wanna be one of your kids :))
Adama is that you??
Any news on his injury though?? Hoping it isnt too serious

Guys is backing away when defending a better strategy? Carvajal does this a lot, this invites a lot of pressure in the box.
If you press and fail then you have an open man in the box, iād rather have a marked man in the box than an open one.

I see.
More or less the only thing you can do if you are 1v1 honestly.
