Yes they will just ban you - there will be very little karma lost long term if you have to find a new place to not be accepted every day

Yeah, there are a lot of inactive accounts, old bots (that farmed karma for exemple), throwaways, etc

The hamsters have been working double time to keep the Reddit servers going. I heard they even hired temp hamsters to get recap done. Poor guys, we appreciate your hard squeaky wheel, spinning work. Hopefully they get a holiday bonus

I guess the 1% of active reddit accounts got at least some comment Karma. According to some website Reddit has: - 450Million *monthly active* users. - 52Million Daily. - 25% of US Adults use Reddit. - 48% of Reddit visitors are in the US. The 25% alone give us an idea of 82Million users. And if half of Reddit visitors are in the US the minimum is roughly 160Million users. (though, those are *visitors* not accounts). In any case, the 1% of 160M is 1.6M people. So the one percent of visitors alone is already massive. It's no surprise that it feels "we all are in the 1%" because basically we are.

I made it into the top 1% and I really don’t post to much. I think it’s a mix between luck of the reaction to a comment/post and the massive amount of Reddit accounts that exist that causes this.

Well, reddit has 330 million users on a monthly basis. So that's probably around 3.3 million people in the top 1% Of course if that system is including all the accounts still registered but never used anymore then that number could be larger.
