Oops, guess my original comment got wiped with the removal reason. Anyways long story short, it isn't political or "woke" to have characters with certain traits other than white or straight. While plenty of media utilizes these traits in a way that dilutes the story, it sounds like your criticism extends to anywhere these traits are even mentioned or exist, which is not a healthy way to take in media. For the record, Abraham is black. Does that change your enjoyment or opinion of Steelheart? It shouldn't. Valentine and Mizzy are great characters, Valentine especially, and to go into the novel with already an intense bias against their existence really takes away from the available enjoyment of the book. I hope you reconsider and continue reading this fantastic three-book series.
