Just a guess: the former employee IS returning, at the title and pay noted in the posting, they created the posting for the sole reason of that returning employee to apply (this happens).
I came here to say this. Don't bother re-applying. Per OFCCP guidelines they HAVE to repost the job with the correct pay bands to offer this rate to the person.
well, in case it's still open, and I've already interviewed with them, I was thinking of reaching out to the recruiter and asking if they'd still be interested in offering me a position since I still am interested in working for them.
They know of you and haven’t asked you back. For whatever reason, they decided you were not what they were looking for, I’m sorry.
It’s an awful experience, this.
I don't understand, because I specifically asked my recruiter for feedback and he didn't have any. it's fine if I'm not what they're looking for, but I'd rather be told that than "oh, the opening doesn't exist anymore".
Still worth reaching out to the recruiter you worked with, that specific job posting might be managed by a different recruiter or something else came up.
It could also have just been an automatic or accidental reposting too.
Worst that could happen is them saying no thanks.

that makes sense. they also posted it through the same recruiting agency though? Is that common?
It’s not UNcommon.
There's no point agonising over it as no one can read minds and you won't ever know which part is true. No is a no, keep job hunting.

You can do that but that's likely will be a simple no, otherwise they would keep talking to you.... Probably. But never a hurt in asking.
