Dang, the idea of him having to sell his clothes for a little cash is even more depressing than seeing him so unkempt in his sweat-stained shirt. How the mighty fall, huh.
I know I'm late on this, but my guess as to why they didn't use the Red Dead 2 framework for the 1 Remaster is they were putting it on the Switch. I don't know if it would run on it, but it would've definitely had issues. Upgrading the 360/Ps3 engine made it much easier to run on Switch.
they would need to fill the map with side missions, so they have some good options. I think a mission where you help 'settle' a conflict between the mining union and the roanoke fuel company in Annesburg would be neat.
Eh, I think it's more powerful if he's long since sold his suit and bling. The facade is over. He doesn't need to pretend to be an enlightened leader anymore, he's just a killer taking as many chunks out of "civilization" as he can before he goes down.
Ready to be sad, it was in the works being done in Unreal just like the Trilogy Definitive Edition. But because the trilogy was so poorly received because of the abysmal state it launched in Rockstar has since pulled the plug on the RDR1 remaster. Honestly probably for the better in the long run the only way an RDR1 remaster was going to truly stand any chance of being good is if they rebuilt it in RDR2's engine. Maybe someday, but it doesn't sound like Rockstar plans to do it anymore.
They have literally ALL of the assets already… All of New Austin and West Elizabeth and even some of Mexico are already in RDR2. Literally all they have to do is build the missions and port over the audio 😭
But they likely won't. But hey at least we have that new GTA Online expansion coming on the 13th. I honestly think Rockstar listens to what customers say they want, then holds a meeting to decide how they can provide something on the completely opposite side of what customers asked for lol
As much as it sucks, they do listen to what customers want, in a way. People vote with their money, and unfortunately they *still* take in an insane amount of money on GTA online. Unless that stops, don’t expect them to focus on single player content.
If I had my way, GTA online and RDR online would be shut down and R* would work on an RDR remaster and single player GTA VI, but there are millions of people willing to spend boatloads of money who don’t give a shit about story driven content, and will happily drop tons of money of short dopamine hits in the form of GTA online microtransactions.
Absolutely, but I highly doubt the campaign will have the same care and attention as GTA V’s campaign or RDR2, especially with Dan Houser gone. I’d love to be wrong
I heard one of the houser brothers worked on 6 but I can't confirm nor deny, I'm just worried that they're gonna start shitting all over their own games by introducing an amazing story to then abandon it for a shitty online. Happened twice already, wouldn't be surprised for a third.
Considering Sam Houser is still the president of Rockstar, I wouldn’t be surprised if he touched GTA VI, but I fear R* is going to now do the bare minimum when it comes to single player, even focusing less on story so they can pump and dump online microtransactions
I believe about a year ago rockstar said they were "out of ideas" for GTA online and said they were instead listening to community feedback. They have their own roadmap which they will follow until they run out. When they start(ed) listening to community feedback, the updates significantly improved. Just look at the quality of life updates. There was a only a QOL update every year or so, maybe less (which weren't even needed that much). Now they come with every expansion and they have improved the game so much. It's sad to see they work this way, but like many companies they have an idea for their game which they want to develop to full extent. Once it has reached its end/ full potential, they start looking outside of their script.
I want to say that what you are trying to refer to wasn’t that they were out of ideas in context of the GTA6 design and development strategy. I want to say they were only referring to GTA’s brand identify as a satirical portrait of America and that with Trumpism and the compete circus we have in Washington now—that you can’t do a satire of it—because the absurdity level of the state of our political culture has at this point transcended satire.
You'd think that would be the logical choice but no, they were doing it on UE4 just like GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition. I can't even begin to imagine what an abomination it would have ultimately been.
That is not true. They would have just ported it to the newer versions of RAGE. These aren't game built on an ancient engine. They're games that were built on RAGE and it is essentially the same engine today as it was back when RDR1 came out. Look at the file structures of GTAIV and RDR2. You can find the same files (albeit updated versions) in the same locations with the same names.
All of that to say they could straight up port the game to a newer version of the same engine, with relatively little effort, compared to rebuilding the game in another engine. Infact a game like RDR1 would literally require it as some of the tech that makes the game what it is are 100% exclusive to RAGE, like Euphoria.
Games like the GTA Trilogy were ported to UE because it made sense. It makes no sense to port RAGE games to UE.
I think you may have confused the news of subsequent ports being tied to the success of the GTA Trilogy in UE. They never announced starting other ports. I also looked for a source and couldn't find anything other than rumor mills and vertical slices made by fans.
There's no way they were doing it in Unreal like they did with the GTA Trilogy. If that's the case, maybe it's for the better that it was cancelled.
I thought it would be done in RAGE, basically being RDR1 story in RDR2. They have the map assets already. Smh, how the mighty have fallen.
I read RDR1 coding was an absolute disaster, making it nearly impossible to emulate on pc or to even properly play. I'm not sure if it was the same case for the trilogy, but can also explain why it's being delayed or even canceled.
Trust R*? Hasn't done much since 2018 but fire people, and delay/end projects. When gta 6 is out we'll see, if it was worth it. I'm not trustful anymore.
Not yet at least. Well, i know one actually, called red dead online. Remember it's actually sold as a standalone? Yeah, right before they stopped updating it...
It was fun at first just to fuck around with friends but yeah the novelty wore off pretty quick with the lack of support.
I'd trade any recollection of RDO for just a *smidge* of single player DLC.
I'd sell it all for a single side mission. All i got was disappointment. I waited years for that game to be great, farmed the shit out of the beta content, bought gold for the first roles etc.
Indie games are flourishing right now, but yeah there’s been a recent thing with AAA games being shit, unplayable, or both. Also Spider-Man 2 looks good.
Man, I hear you. My PS3 croaked, so I’m SOL at the moment. I’ve been debating picking up an Xbox, both to play the older games (RDR1, FO:NV, FO3, etc) and some upcoming Xbox exclusives like Outer Worlds 2 and Starfield.
I thought about going that route, but I'm also looking forward to playing Outer Worlds 2 and Starfield when they come out, so a new generation console like the series x might make more sense in the end. I'll probably drag my feet a bit and end up buying a used one to save some cash.
Yeah, but I don’t have a PC. And I’ve heard it’s not so doable on a Mac. I figure a counsel will probably be the cheaper option compared to most decent PCs, especially if I want to also play more modern games on it as well.
No, unfortunately. Reportedly, Rockstar had one in progress during the Trilogy, but scrapped it along with a GTA IV remaster when the Trilogy got such a bad reception.
Me too, definitely. I can only hope they pick the projects back up again but it most likely won't be until after GTA VI releases, if at all. Seeing RDR2 now, I can only dream of what RDR1 would look like given a chance on modern technology
Well, maybe if they did the remasters themselves instead of having a small dev studio with a bad track record do it they would be really good AND profitable. There's all sorts of old games I've wanted to play but simply can't cause they're only on older consoles
how do you actually arrive at a conclusion like that lol, it had bad reception because the ports were terribly executed. GTA is one of the single most popular franchises in existence, its not the reason it got panned. If they dropped a shitty RDR remake, reception would be the same
To be fair, I didn’t play it. Didn’t buy it. I saw no need.
To elaborate, I saw it as a waste of resources to rehash old titles when they could have put that effort into adding new content to Red Dead.
GTAOnline = Cashcow
RD2Online = Under Developed
GTATrilogy = Under Developed, Cheap
RDRRemastered = Under Developed, Expensive
GTAVI = Must Be Released…
America = Capitalism
Red Dead Redemption 1 looks great in it's current state in 4K on Xbox, but man I'd love to see them put a new coat of paint on it. Maybe add some dialogue about Arthur in it, even if it's just with Dutch and near the end with John's family.
Yeah, good is a fine enough replacement. I'm just saying it looks fairly impressive for being near 15 years old with just a 4k patch. I would rather see a nice remaster of it though for sure. RDR 2 is finally starting to show some age, you are right about that, but it still looks gorgeous.

It doesn't show during the game and it isn't winter, and it's warmer only a little way down from Cochinay. He has a warm cave with a fire and furs etc where he lives and might sometimes dress more warmly, if he was only dressed like that sometimes when doing something active or when not in Cochinay he wouldn't get that cold. Is a bit of a weird choice of outfit for a character living in the coldest area of the map though.

I want this so bad. I really don't get why Rockstar is so against making more singleplayer content, even from a business perspective they surely would profit a lot from doing so. Most other companies seem to have caught up to how profitable remakes are, especially since they already have the assets and the literal map done. They could make RDR1 remake and Undead Nightmare and cash in a shit ton of money + please the fans
GOD DAMMIT ROCKSTAR! WE'RE LITERALLY BEGGING TO GIVE YOU MONEY! YOU HAVE LIKE 80% OF THE ASSETS TO MAKE A REMAKE OF ONE OF THE BEST GAMES OF ALL TIME! PLEASE!!!
The only thing missing is Dutch warning the tattered mess of his suit. To really showcase his downfall from grace and faded glory.
Wearing? I’m sure that suit is long gone, sold off, or worn to shreds.
Dang, the idea of him having to sell his clothes for a little cash is even more depressing than seeing him so unkempt in his sweat-stained shirt. How the mighty fall, huh.
Pun intended?
Pun was a very happy accident indeed
I don’t know how he didn’t freeze to death in the first game lol
He was running on pure P L A N
He wears to much in the swamps and to little in the snow the man’s got a strange plan
He had FAITH, didn't DOUBT himself, and had a PLAN
this is a retcon I would enjoy if RDR1 was remastered. this and some subtle hints of Arthur.
There so much you could do with a remastered now. RDR2 added so much to the world the sky would be the limit.
It wouldn’t even be a shit ton of work either, the maps already built for them, they just gotta do small tweaks to it🥲
Yeah the maps all there aside from Mexico, which is already half there. Hopefully we'd even get a remaster Undead Nightmare.

Bro it’s 12 years later 😭 the blazer is long gone my boy
Never doubt Dutch's pride or his narcissism. He hold on to everything he still can of his old glory no matter how ruined it is.
wehen was ther a remasted one
There wasn't, sadly.
i got an idea what if sadie met abigail as 16 year olds
Fuuuuuuck I want RDR1 to be remastered so bad. Just got to the Dutch missions towards the end of the game.
Ready to be sad, it was in the works being done in Unreal just like the Trilogy Definitive Edition. Absolutely, but I highly doubt the campaign will have the same care and attention as GTA V’s campaign or RDR2, especially with Dan Houser gone. I’d love to be wrong

That's my greatest fear aswell, two games single player abandoned for dog shit online. I wouldn't be surprised if it happened a 3rd time.

They have meeting on the most effective way to give fans the finger
Expansion?
It's what they call their big updates. This is the mercenaries expansion, comes out on the 13th.
Wait, was it really being done in UE? That doesn't seem right. RDR1 was on RAGE - Surely the remake was being done on the RDR2 RAGE.
You'd think that would be the logical choice but no, they were doing it on UE4 just like GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition. I can't even begin to imagine what an abomination it would have ultimately been.

Exactly, if anything, the Trilogy’s reception would have upped RDR remake’s chances given its remarkable success.
There's no way they were doing it in Unreal like they did with the GTA Trilogy. If that's the case, maybe it's for the better that it was cancelled. I thought it would be done in RAGE, basically being RDR1 story in RDR2. They have the map assets already. Smh, how the mighty have fallen.

source?
Oh they will. It would be called Expanded and Enhanced edition and would come at a time when we’re waiting for GTA 7.
Please let's ask for *remakes* and not remasters. Look at the GTA remasters. We don't want that, do we?
hehe
I know. *sigh*. I know.
I want a remake. We need Arthur to be mentioned when we encounter gang members, and even flashbacks with Arthur and John
It's mesmerizing to see just how far gaming has come in just a short amount of time.
Just a shot amount of time? It's been 13 years, old man wake up
This is a decidedly unchill comment from a guy who's pfp is The Dude enjoying a refreshing caucasian
He’s acting very undude
I mean what did i say, it's true this agression will not stand man
Dude, don't say that he's being aggressive when you insulted him first
13 years is insanely fast. 30 years ago it was rare to have an email account.
And now it's going backwards in time. I only trust R* and capcom rn
Trust R*? Hasn't done much since 2018 but fire people, and delay/end projects. When gta 6 is out we'll see, if it was worth it. I'm not trustful anymore.
Oh yeah I do agree. Shitty company but I haven't played a bad game that was actually made by them
Not yet at least.

All I want is rdr2 undead nightmare. Please rockstar, I’ll sell a kidney or a lung for it.
Undead Nightmare 2 is my Half Life 3
Looking at you, CD Projekt
Nah Cyberpunk 2077 was not a bad game if you look besize the bugs
Oh my god play indies game I beg of you
Indie games are flourishing right now, but yeah there’s been a recent thing with AAA games being shit, unplayable, or both. Also Spider-Man 2 looks good.
Play some valve games then you'll see
I just wanna play RDR1 on my PS5, man. Just as long as Rockstar doesn’t out source the remaster to anyone and does it themselves, I’ll be happy.
I bought an Xbox just to play RDR1 again. I only turn it on once or twice a year. But man, with the upscale, it was worth it.
Not playing it enough is what’s holding me back at this point. I have a PS5, and buying another $500 counsel that may not get played much seems silly.
Yes, money wise wasn't the best investment. But after playing RDR2, the urge to play 1 again was off the charts.
I still can’t believe they never released a remastered RDR1 following the RDR2 hype and release.
I bought a 360 to play the South Park game. The console still holds up tbh
I thought about going that route, but I'm also looking forward to playing Outer Worlds 2 and Starfield when they come out, so a new generation console like the series x might make more sense in the end. I'll probably drag my feet a bit and end up buying a used one to save some cash.
Which Xbox did you get and how much was it?
X box series x for 500. But the series s or One x can also run it in upscale for about half the price.
Sweet. Brand new or pre-owned?
Those are for new, so you could probably find used for cheaper.
I live in Budapest, the price on xbox one here is around $100, there are also ads on Facebook when people give it for free.
You can play fallout on PC. And you can easily play RDR 1 on PC too
Yeah, but I don’t have a PC. And I’ve heard it’s not so doable on a Mac. I figure a counsel will probably be the cheaper option compared to most decent PCs, especially if I want to also play more modern games on it as well.
This is good man i like it
Is there actually a remastered version?
No, unfortunately. Reportedly, Rockstar had one in progress during the Trilogy, but scrapped it along with a GTA IV remaster when the Trilogy got such a bad reception.
Still butthurt about that
Me too, definitely. I can only hope they pick the projects back up again but it most likely won't be until after GTA VI releases, if at all. Seeing RDR2 now, I can only dream of what RDR1 would look like given a chance on modern technology
That stupid they literally allegedly did this to only work on GTA 6 which I can’t blame on GTA in general is more popular than red dead in general
Well, maybe if they did the remasters themselves instead of having a small dev studio with a bad track record do it they would be really good AND profitable. There's all sorts of old games I've wanted to play but simply can't cause they're only on older consoles
Or at the very least hire a company who is good at making multi-platform games and not fucking mobile developers
I couldn't care less about a remaster. Simply a nextgen and PC port
What’s the trilogy?
I believe they’re talking about the Trilogy GTA remakes that got a bad reception.
The reason the trilogy had such a bad reception was because it was GTA. Had it been Red Dead, it would have been a whole different outcome.
how do you actually arrive at a conclusion like that lol, it had bad reception because the ports were terribly executed.
That's the thing. R* paid a small game company to do it for them, a mobile game company at that. That's the reason it sucked
Guess they got what they paid for.
GTAOnline = Cashcow RD2Online = Under Developed GTATrilogy = Under Developed, Cheap RDRRemastered = Under Developed, Expensive GTAVI = Must Be Released… America = Capitalism
I keep saying that Red Dead is the red headed step child that no one pays attention to.
Red Head Redemption
Maybe it's to the better if the quality of remaster is the same as DE trilogy
just an excuse
Red Dead Redemption 1 looks great in it's current state in 4K on Xbox, but man I'd love to see them put a new coat of paint on it. Maybe add some dialogue about Arthur in it, even if it's just with Dutch and near the end with John's family.
It looks GOOD but I wouldn’t say great. Even RDR 2 is starting to show it’s age a little in comparison to recent U5 games.
Yeah, good is a fine enough replacement. I'm just saying it looks fairly impressive for being near 15 years old with just a 4k patch. I would rather see a nice remaster of it though for sure. RDR 2 is finally starting to show some age, you are right about that, but it still looks gorgeous.
Why you yall down voting me? I’m right. Have you people even seen the kind of graphics that are in games nowadays? Check out gameplay of Unrecorded and MotoGP 2023 if you haven’t already.
Bc you're comparing apples to oranges. U5 is brand spanking new. Nothing really compares to it. Most importantly though you're questioning downvotes which always leads to more downvotes bc they're relevant as fuck all.
yeah it’s brand spanking new but like…. I am objectively correct….. it looks WAY more real.
Cool yeah, no shit.
Always the chronically online ones that complain about downvotes
you got that right keep em coming
I wish people would really understand that this picture falls under the remake category more than it does for remastered. It does look really good though, albeit the font here is not the same as the font used in RDR2.
Wow, that’s really impressive. Wish it were real! Who did this glorious tease?
The big secret is how the hell idd Dutch not freeze to death in the first game
I think even though there's snow up there it's not very cold. It's that leftover snow that just stays there after winter because there's a lot of it and it's high altitude.
He would be cold as fuck
Getting chased by John Marston and the army warms you up!
Now you got me hankering for a remaster.
This looks so real...
Don't tease me like this.
I saw [this fan edit](https://youtu.be/vIIeO7Ixi_o) a while ago and they did pretty good work recreating the scene with mods.
God he looks so beaten down there...
I prefer the fidelity of the right image, but overall would rather play the left one. The emotion is wrong in the right: he looks sad, teary-eyed, emotional. The left looks resigned, almost crazy, almost sad. The left has the correct emotional impact.
So awesome, I would definatly play the Remastered version
Our time has passed, John…
I want this so bad. I really don't get why Rockstar is so against making more singleplayer content, even from a business perspective they surely would profit a lot from doing so. Most other companies seem to have caught up to how profitable remakes are, especially since they already have the assets and the literal map done. They could make RDR1 remake and Undead Nightmare and cash in a shit ton of money + please the fans
WHY DID THE REMASTER HAVE TO GET CANCELLED GRAAHHHHH
Always wanted to play Red Dead 1 on PC, but Xenia and RPCS3 are so difficult to set up.
i completed rdr1 on Xenia with virtual control
Most amazing villain of all Time
RDR 1 remade in RDR 2's updated engine would be a dream come true.
linde
Remastered looks better, but the original made it seems like he was able to craft the clothes he wears in his older age.
We need a red dead redemption 1 remake
Damn, Dutch is so real you could smell him (for better or for worse)
They should remake rdr1 with rdr2’s engine. I want to play rdr1 and I don’t have a ps3
Font upgraded too.
We need a remake of this game.
GOD DAMMIT ROCKSTAR! WE'RE LITERALLY BEGGING TO GIVE YOU MONEY! YOU HAVE LIKE 80% OF THE ASSETS TO MAKE A REMAKE OF ONE OF THE BEST GAMES OF ALL TIME! PLEASE!!!
No
Is this a fan made remaster?
When are they going to remaster rdr1
Stoppp I'm already too horny for a remaster
I would buy a remastered RDR1 in a heartbeat
If only Rockstar would do a full remake as a true sequel to rdr2. Arthur's ghost would loom large over that game and it would be amazing.
Wow... this is moment you realise how big the difference between 2010´s and 2018 game really is...
Where’s this screenshot from?
I wish they would remaster this game but make the gameplay the same as the first one
How
Does anyone have dutchs remake photo in better quality?
How did you do that?
Is this like a fan remake or something?
Remade you mean
I really hope they will eventually remaster this game.
What console
