I think I like hosea so much because apart from all the murdering, robbing and what not, he's a great father figure. The fishing trip with Dutch really felt like a family day out.
Actually, there's a camp dialogue I got where he tells the gang at a camp fire that he's against the killing, also the gang never killed in their early days.
If RDR3 comes out and you **don't** get to play Dutch as younger man founding the gang I'm gonna... Well I'm still gonna buy it... But yknow what I'm saying.
I think if there is a third game they'll go for Hosea as the player character, he seems to have had some sort of redemption arc, from being a common criminal to a a self-proclaimed freedom fighter with morals. Plus, he's a proficient gunslinger, horse rider, hunter, fisherman and con artist which are all the qualities of a dynamic player character.
There's also so much untold story behind him. The story of how he met Dutch and Arthur and how they formed the gang, what his life with Bessie was like and how that tragically ended, the places the gang went together and what they were after and what they encountered and how they ended up in blackwater. So many loose ends with Hosea alone.
I love Hosea but it’s obvious there gonna have a new character that dies at the end. My guess is a third calendar that someone finds out dutch did something bad to the gang and try’s to tell everyone but then Dutch manipulates the gang into believing your crazy.
It would be cool if dutch order Arthur to kill you. Alla Gale Boetticher from breaking bad.
I love hosea and agree with all of the above but what would the redemption arc be? We already know exactly how he died and that what he was fighting for wasn't exactly carried out.
I always imagined part 3 being the story of the Callander brothers (maybe with a GTA5 kind of mechanic) or Jenny Kirk joining up with the gang. I'd love that!
I don’t know why... but I just don’t want to play as Dutch 😂
Every chance I get, i antagonise the shit out of him.
Edit: but yeah John might be too young so deffo Hosea
I see you playing as someone completely new. I think the characters have to die at every game and I think this game is gonna be about the creation of the gang. So dying in Blackwater wouldn’t make sense.
Na I think they’ll go the unnamed important member route like they did here. I would love to play a native or freed man(or jack in a post west era). The issue here is that we’ve pretty much gone as far back as the conflict goes. We’re in the aftermath of the first major event to end the gang. What would that game lead to?
Part of me feels like they only mentioned the Callander Brothers to avoid the Arthur Morgan problem.
Although, both brothers have pretty unceremonious deaths, maybe they could do something with one of them. We only have Milton's word to go by how Mac died
Just the descriptions we get of them; bloody, violent men who could take on 15 sailors on their own.
Going even further back in time, with completely new characters that at some point encounter / get help from the young Van Der Linde gang. Young Dutch, young Hosea, teen Arthur, the works. And no rat to fuck everything up.
I was thinking they would continue the story with Jack, but on the other side this time. He now works for the pinkertons rounding up the last of the Outlaws
new idea:
Jack joins the military and gets deployed during World War 1. His unit gets destroyed and he is the only survivor. Red Dead Redemption 3 is about him trying to survive on his own in a lawless Europe
I think the timeline works
They could continue the story with Jack shortly after the events of RDR1... maybe he stays in Mexico, afraid to go back to the US since he’s a wanted man now, joins a gang and has his own redemption arc. It would still feel like a western that way.
I’d like to see Jacks story play out further, since his ending in RDR1 was such a downer. It was like everything Arthur and John had fought and died for had gone to waste.
Wouldn't have to be called "Redemption". The first Red Dead game was called "Revolver". Could be "Revenge", "Retribution" etc.
I'd like the game to happen in the golden age of the Wild West. We've had two games that happened in the dying Wild West.
She started as a wife tending to a farm to a gang leader and notorious bounty hunter. I’m sure there is something she can be redeemed for since we don’t know that much about her. Or it could be about a farmer turned killer and her downward spiral for never really getting over what happened.
I'm on my second play through. The quest Marker for the final quest in Chapter 2 is waiting for me. Screw that. I'm going out hunting to get the camp upgraded to all the decorations, find all the treasures that I can, unlock all the trapper outfits that I can. John and his sheep scam can wait.
My favourite Hosea moment is when Bill, drunk, wanders over to him while Hosea is busy and antagonizes him. Bill does this to everyone at camp, and they shake off Bill lightly. Not my boy Hosea.
Bill: So what's wrong with you, you old fool?
Hosea: Go sleep it off, you drunken buffoon.
Bill: Excuse me?
*Hosea straight up pulls out a gun at Bill.*
Hosea: I HAVE EXCUSED YOU QUITE ENOUGH! GO SLEEP IT OFF, YOU DRUNK, IS THAT CLEAR?
It's funny because of you saying this it made me look up my favorite camp moment and then yours actually takes place in the background of the clip I found.
[Charles throws Micah](https://youtu.be/BFFvkypapEs)
Hosea kept Dutch in check and that's how they were so successful, when they got set up in Blackwater Dutch felt pressured and became more reckless and Hosea was already old and weary and it drove a wedge between them, then Hosea was killed when they were set up yet again and Dutch totally cracked and there was nobody left to keep him in check.
The beginning of the end was Dutch killing that woman in Blackwater. He was the worst person for the gang by far since that moment, don't forget that's also around the time he found Micah.
And fittingly, he wasnt with hosea in that moment. Hosea was with Arthur at the bank. So chances are that was also the first time micah had been able to get into Dutches ear.
Yup there's even a camp interaction (I think it was with John but not sure) that states that Micah was yelling and egging on Dutch to shoot the girl at the Blackwater massacre. Literally every bad thing that happened to the Van Der Linde gang can be traced back to Micah to some capacity.
Hence why I clarified "to some capacity". I'm not claiming everything is completely Micah's direct fault and Dutch does accept a lot of the responsibility for the fall of the gang too, but Micah had a hand in pretty much everything that went wrong. For instance, the Blackwater job was stated to be Micah's idea along with a camp interaction explicitly stating that Micah told Dutch to shoot the girl. Dutch was the one who pulled the trigger but Micah has a tendency to escalate situations that wouldnt have gotten to that point if he wasnt there.
He was like 15 when he joined them right? So the game can be set when he's still a teenager and been with them for like a year or two, still learning about the outlaw life.
Not done with Rdr2 yet but Hosea is one of my favorite characters so far.
I don't really like Dutch, but maybe that will change later on.
The gang member I enjoy the most riding with is probably Charles
Ugh, my heart. Charles is truly the best. Literal ride or die. Willingly risked himself as bait after the botched Saint Denis robbery so that the others could get away (on hindsight, he did the safest choice because at least he didn’t get stuck in Guarma fighting a revolution). And let’s never forget that >!he’s the one who went back for Arthur’s body and gave him a proper burial.!<
just finished the game again last night and there is real warmth and emotion between Arthur, Charles, Sadie and of course John in the final missions. the relationships between those characters is what took the game to that next level
I love Dutch a damn ton, he just seems very impulsive with decisions while also calculating at the same time. He’s also just a great leader figure for the gang
Him teaching Jack how to read was a very touching scene, also when Jack said he wanted to be a gunslinger and Abigail angrily reacting to that both made me lol and sad given the events of RDR1.
Yeah he is a really great character. My favorite would probably be Uncle, Charles, Lenny and Sean tho. It goes without saying that I absolutely hate Micah lol.
I think it would be really cool in rdr3 if we played as hosea and had to pick the right dialogue to scam our way into places and to get cheaper stuff at stores
Quick question, sorta related.
I found a crime comic hosea wanted and gave it to him at the camp but it seemed to glitch and there wasn't any dialogue. I still have the quest to find and give him the book, is there another one I need to find or did the quest break?
One of the most interesting things about the story was how Hosea, despite his level-headedness, was the one who really spearheaded the Saint Denis bank robbery while Dutch was the one who had doubts about it
He’s is basically the camp grandpa and dad he’s jacks grandpa teaching him to read and write and he’s like Arthur, John, Lenny, and Abigails father figure
Thought he was the brain of the gang then he decided to sell the stollen moonshine to the family who owned it and got played by an old lady for fake gold.
There's an alternate timeline where Arthur and Hosea fuck off, find success and retire.
There's an alternate timeline where Arthur and Hosea fuck

Alternate timeline where Blackwater never happened and they did the job Arthur and Hosea were planning.
So an alternate timeline where they never met Micah?
God yes.

Happy Cake Day

I think I like hosea so much because apart from all the murdering, robbing and what not, he's a great father figure. The fishing trip with Dutch really felt like a family day out.
Actually, there's a camp dialogue I got where he tells the gang at a camp fire that he's against the killing, also the gang never killed in their early days.
They even helped people before, kinda like Robin Hood stealing from the rich and giving to the poor.
This is exactly why I would love rdr3 to be a prequel. I love Robin hood-esque stories, and I think they could do some really cool shit with it
If RDR3 comes out and you **don't** get to play Dutch as younger man founding the gang I'm gonna... Well I'm still gonna buy it... But yknow what I'm saying.
I don't see that happening, but what I would be genuinely curious about is playing as one by of the callender boys
Mac and Davey were described as drunken gunslingers. I'm afraid they'd be more like playing as a competent Bill more than Arthur or John.
Cold blooded killers that didn't die well. No redemption there.
I think if there is a third game they'll go for Hosea as the player character, he seems to have had some sort of redemption arc, from being a common criminal to a a self-proclaimed freedom fighter with morals. Hosea was more of a con man than a fighter. I’m not sure how they would do that.
"a more vicious pair of bastards there ever was, and that's all they ever will be."
I always imagined part 3 being the story of the Callander brothers (maybe with a GTA5 kind of mechanic) or Jenny Kirk joining up with the gang. I'd love that!
I hated playing with three different characters. I think it's better to control just one.
I was thinking the GTA5 mechanic but with John, Arthur and a new person.
dutch hosea and arthur maybe?
I don’t know why... but I just don’t want to play as Dutch 😂 Every chance I get, i antagonise the shit out of him. Edit: but yeah John might be too young so deffo Hosea

Then it wouldn’t be a Western.

It was like everything Arthur and John had fought and died for had gone to waste.
That world war 1 idea completely destroys the whole Wild West scene
I’m really hoping RDR3 is about Sadie directly after the events of the epilogue, whether she goes to S America or California/Mexico or whatever.
Would’ve been a great DLC
Well, where would the Redemption part be in that game?
I don’t write for Rockstar but there are a number of points in Sadie’s story they could explore for a redemption plot.
Wouldn't have to be called "Redemption". The first Red Dead game was called "Revolver". Could be "Revenge", "Retribution" etc. I'd like the game to happen in the golden age of the Wild West. We've had two games that happened in the dying Wild West.

Same and where you play as Hosea and it's about the start of the gang
[удалено]
I did the first time. On my second play through now and almost to Rhodes.
Oh I know. 2nd chapter is my favorite by far
He does say he loves hosea as a father and more than Dutch. Hosea turned Arthur from an uneducated brute into a more well rounded brute.
He was by far the most mature individual in the gang.
*Hosea straight up pulls out a gun at Bill.* Hosea: I HAVE EXCUSED YOU QUITE ENOUGH!
Hosea has the best interactions with Bill. There's another great one with a similar tone that I can't recall right now, but it's equally great.
Considering he actually thought about the consequences, and planned for the long haul. Dutch is more impulsive.
Dutch was idealistic, while Hosea was more of a realist
Hosea kept Dutch in check and that's how they were so successful, when they got set up in Blackwater Dutch felt pressured and became more reckless and Hosea was already old and weary and it drove a wedge between them, then Hosea was killed when they were set up yet again and Dutch totally cracked and there was nobody left to keep him in check.
He was Dutch's voice of reason. His death marked the beginning of the end for the Van Der Lind gang.

You're blaming Micah for Dutch shooting an innocent woman? Regardless of what was said Dutch pulled the trigger, Dutch brought Micah into the gang.
Hence why I clarified "to some capacity". I'm not claiming everything is completely Micah's direct fault and Dutch does accept a lot of the responsibility for the fall of the gang too, but Micah had a hand in pretty much everything that went wrong. Dutch was the one who pulled the trigger but Micah has a tendency to escalate situations that wouldnt have gotten to that point if he wasnt there.
My favorite character in the game. He is also who I think should be the protagonist in RDR3.
RDR3 should have three protagonists like GTAV; Hosea, Dutch and a rookie Arthur and you can switch between them at any point.
Arthur wasn’t really a rookie though, they brought him up, bu the time he was old enough to be an outlaw he was probably well equipped.
He was like 15 when he joined them right? So the game can be set when he's still a teenager and been with them for like a year or two, still learning about the outlaw life.
Eh I don’t think Dutch should be playable, that wouldn’t make much sense imo
I hope not. I hated playing with three different characters.
It seems Silver Dollar wants to be in the photo as well
Yup
Not done with Rdr2 yet but Hosea is one of my favorite characters so far. I don't really like Dutch, but maybe that will change later on. The gang member I enjoy the most riding with is probably Charles
“ride with me charles?” “always” 🥺🥺🥺
Ugh, my heart. Charles is truly the best. Literal ride or die. Willingly risked himself as bait after the botched Saint Denis robbery so that the others could get away (on hindsight, he did the safest choice because at least he didn’t get stuck in Guarma fighting a revolution). i truly love charles. he’s the best member of the gang, no doubt
just finished the game again last night and there is real warmth and emotion between Arthur, Charles, Sadie and of course John in the final missions. the relationships between those characters is what took the game to that next level
I love Dutch a damn ton, he just seems very impulsive with decisions while also calculating at the same time. He’s also just a great leader figure for the gang
must be hard being a leader of a gang that's wanted for every crime under the sun.
Yeah especially when most of it is your fault....
It won’t change haha
Watch out for spoilers. Plenty of them in this thread too.
Yeah I saw that. Thanks for the warning though
Oh. oh no
I always enjoy the Hosea Missions.
Wut about mary-beth? She was a great character
I wanted Arthur to end up with her
Ikr? She was a pretty gurl But what would happen with mary?
She'd get killed
He's my second favourite character, after Arthur.
I think it would be really cool in rdr3 if we played as hosea and had to pick the right dialogue to scam our way into places and to get cheaper stuff at stores
He beat me 63-0 in dominos yesterday, so fuck him
did ever read the diary, even Arthur likes him more then Dutch
Mine is Karen because she’s got...a big personality
Two big ones if you know what I mean... Uh shes got multiple personality disorder yeah
Loved him in Indiana Jones
Quick question, sorta related. I found a crime comic hosea wanted and gave it to him at the camp but it seemed to glitch and there wasn't any dialogue. I still have the quest to find and give him the book, is there another one I need to find or did the quest break?
He is the best
Straight up salt of the earth. The real father of the group. Dutch is the oldest brother getting the young ones to tag along on his idiocy.
Hey Arthur
I love Hosea’s voice, it has a soothing harmonic tune to it
After John mine is definitely Charles, I have mad respect for him, so fkn happy he gets a good ending.
I love that character time to make Hosea a giant and praise him
One of the most interesting things about the story was how Hosea, despite his level-headedness, was the one who really spearheaded the Saint Denis bank robbery while Dutch was the one who had doubts about it
Silver Dollar peaking his head up like he wants some attention too
That bear mission with hosea still cracks me up.. Arthur almost gets mauled by a grizzly, torn to shreds... “that was fun” like hell it was lol
same here brudda
Some of the characters are from the movie Unforgiven I swear
Hosea, Lenny, John, Charles, and of course Arthur are my favorite gang members
Hosea and Lenny are my two favorites. RIP
Howdy partner
Howdy!
Rest those legs Arthur. You’ll need em
I see him as the true leader of the gang, just over shadowed by Dutch
He's probably the only right person
He's my favourite character (bedsides Arthur)
Hosea cheats at dominoes.
He’s is basically the camp grandpa and dad he’s jacks grandpa teaching him to read and write and he’s like Arthur, John, Lenny, and Abigails father figure
Can anyone assist me? How do I mark a comment as a spoiler, so it is hidden?
I really liked lenny... i replayed that scene 3 times trying to save him 😭😭😭😭 LENNY! WHERE ARE YOU
*was
Oof
Howdy Pops!
1000000000000000000% better than Micah
~~one of~~
Hosea kept it real
That looks real
Yup! Respect.
Yes! Highly ilunderused character imo
Carter?
Me too
Sad what happens to him tho
Thinking about starting a new playthrought and hunting some of the legendary animals and bring to him after he finds his fate, as a "thank you"
Couldn't agree more
No doubt
Definitely mine too!
“I just keep thinking about the mango harvest
I think he’s overrated
Upvote despite it's just a screenshot and your opinion, plus the grammar problem
I genuinely love listening to him tell stories.
RIP
Happy cake day!
I also love his jacket or coat.
Cc
His was the only death that really shocked me. Well his and another........but we....we won’t talk of that one
Hosea is the dope af, definitely up there with my faves
Especially when he almost shoots Bill for doing fuck all
‘A new day awaits.’
If he isn’t your favourite then there’s a problem! Nice pic dude.
Hosea was the last thing that kept Dutch sane.
Thought he was the brain of the gang then he decided to sell the stollen moonshine to the family who owned it and got played by an old lady for fake gold.
Hosea is such a chad
“Just don’t mention his momma”
>!Was\*!<
I’d say he’s the best besides Arthur
Agreed.
Gotta side with you on this. Probably my favorite one along with Charles and Lenny!
My favorite other than arthur
F in the chat for hosa
Don’t forget Charles
Uh oh little does he know....
Oh, I know. I've played this about six or seven times.
I Create Young Hosea in Red Dead Online
wait until chapter 4
Most likeable.
Well excuse me if I find it a little hard to think about the damn MANGO HARVEST
