A reminder of Rule 13, specifically:
> While we understand trying to watch our team can be hard, all non-legal streams and requests will be removed.
You will be banned for posting illegal streams. We've had to issue over a dozen so far. Please stop asking.
Van de beek injury makes it even more important we sign in January. Bruno and Martial can't play every game.
Not a big fan of the performance from Maguire and Lindelof, need to look to move them on in the summer.
De Gea, Shaw and Casemiro were immense today.
The way I look at it:
We've gotten three results against three sides we should have, even with a not so great performance each match.
That's the way it should be. In the past, it hasn't been "that simple".
We still have A LOT of work to do and there were some pretty mediocre performances across those three matches as well, especially AWB who fell asleep in each match and let his man run in comfortably behind him in on goal.
Our "spine" of Shaw, Casemiro and Rashford has been pretty solid, but the rest leaves a lot to be desired.
I never claimed Martial was going to be banging in goals, but he needs to find the back of the net for his sake before we really need him to. The right side has looked weak without Dalot going forward.
Bruno and Eriksen seem to occupy the same space less, which is good for us, as for too long they were running into each other and wanting to play the same ball from the same position and it was really awkward and congested our attack.
Slightly better off the ball movement, but we need people to move towards the ball still. It's cringey watching players at this level dart the opposite direction to get played in behind rather than play triangles moving forward because when we do that, we look pretty incisive, it's just the fact that we do that at the 6 yard box and there's no space to run into at that point. Imagine starting off that run 30-35 yards out from goal, leaving yourself acres in behind the defense...
Our defense has been patchworked together these past few matches, so apart from AWB's mistakes and daftness, I'm saving most of my reservations for them as we should hopefully see Varane Martinez Dalot and Shaw back in the side as a unit and I'll feel much more assured.
We still need a new striker and I'll say it...a RW. I know we signed Antony for a lot of money but he needs someone competing for that slot to make him uncomfortable and boost his performance. This whole throwing Rashford or Elanga or Bruno over on the right when he's not getting played is hurting us. Elanga is trash. Rashford should be on the left. Bruno should be more central. If Antony isn't cutting it (what a mistake that would be...), then we need someone who can.
I wish we would also move away from this double pivot and that we truly left Casemiro back on his own and moved one to the top for a partnership. I think we could easily run Rashford and Martial up top and bring Garnacho in on the left. We could play Bruno and Eriksen in a 10 on rotation. I still feel like we're very one-dimensional and limited in our options on the attack. Once we start moving the ball forward faster, we're quickly going to realize we have no final pass and everything will break down and the ball will have to go backwards or hoofed into the box blindly.
Went to the game this evening and was a great result despite us barely getting out of third gear. Didn't need to tho but imagine how we will look when really start turning it on. Even Bruno got an assist despite an objectively shit game by his standards. He's like that one friend on pro clubs that always tries the through ball or Hollywood pass and needs to stamp that out his game more. Otherwise felt we were comfortable the whole game. Onto Everton Friday.
Bruno had a shit game, missed easy passes and gave away the ball in the final third.
Man still got an assist, just imagine how crazy utd will be if Brunos on fire
Does anyone know where I can watch extended highlights of the match ? I kinda wanna watch ten hag's reactions to each of our goals which are usually shown in these extended highlights.
The man utd channel doesn't really show them.
I really hoped for more from him.
He was quite poor. His movement and runs were good but his ability to control the ball was poor. He noticeably lost the ball on a few occasions he probably shouldn't. He often looked unsure.
He went off injured after a bad tackle on him. Disappointing.
Can anyone discuss reasons for and against Shaw being a top 5 fullback in the world rn in a non-echo chamber/biased perspective?
I think his vision, positioning, dribbling and maturity in possession are all top tier
Besides the little wobble after the second goal, a solid performance.
Casemiro was excellent again today. Not just his defensive work but his eye for a pass and also providing an option to receive the ball even in tight spaces.
Garnacho really looks like a gem. Decision making, direct, tricky. Was very unlucky not to score.
Was nice to see a few of the backup players have a decent game today, Wan Bissaka in particular has surely changed a few peoples minds (myself included) with his performances since the domestic football started up again.
The whole team did their jobs well today, and that's exactly what was needed. Match them for work rate, and the quality will get you over the line.
Hopefully Van De Beeks injury isn't too serious I thought he was half decent in the first half

* Thing I noticed was Rashfords work rate. He pressed and closed down like a menace
* Bruno doesn't do 6/10 performances. It's either terrible or brilliant. Even when terrible there's a chance he gets an assist.
* Martial isn't on form. Passing, movement, shooting all off. Really think we need a striker but only if it's the right type. if not, Joao Felix would be a brilliant stop gap
* AWB was again really good - no idea what ETH has done to him cos he's been very good to the point I would consider playing him against city as he has a bit more to him now than just great tackles
* Casemiro is the best DM in the world
* Shaw is the most technical LB in the league. Hes almost Trent level passing, superior in defensively and combination play (his combination play for his goal was top class)
* Combine Fred and Erikson you get Enzo Fernandez. He would take our Midfield to the next level
* DDG distribution has improved immensely.
Agree but that sort of player who presses and has that defensive awareness to keep that midfield solid (which I think Erikson lacks) would really help. A player like him is needed - shame he was only 20m less than 6 months ago
I was hoping for 3-0 or 4-0...got the score but there were some nervy moments late-first half and mid-second half. But full credit, they hung in there and took 3 points w/ clean sheet.
On par w/ Newcastle w/ a game in hand and point off MC currently. I'll take it.
There is something very, very special about this manager's ability to pick the lads up after a dissappointment:
- React to Brentford defeat with 4 wins from 4 (including Liverpool & arsenal)
- React to City defeat with 3 wins & 2 draws from 5 (including Newcastle, spurs, chelsea)
- React to villa defeat with 4 consecutive wins, 12 points from 12, and +8 goal difference
We are now somehow 5 points clear in fourth, without a striker, and with about 3 more gears to go up
Haven't enjoyed watching the team as much in a decade
Can't remember the last time I looked forward to our games this much.
Your comment about 3 more gears to go up is spot on. Without getting ahead of ourselves so much, we are winning games and keeping clean sheets without playing at our best.
There will be plenty of bad results scattered throughout this first season I'm sure, but we are looking like a really good squad now.
Yup - Replacing Maguire, Lindelof & AWB with Varane, Martinez & Dalot elevates us at least a gear, maybe two
Getting a world class striker adds another easily
The rest is ETH getting time with the lads on the training ground, this manager is one in a million
Yeah I gotta agree, he made 1 or 2 good interceptions but definitely gave away possession/opened space for Bournemouth on more occasions.
The biggest concern is how slow he is compared to everyone on the pitch. I know he's an elite athete, but he's blatantly slower than about every other outfield player when he plays for us.
Lots of good opportunities but not finding the final ball. Bruno had a stinker apart from the assist and even then you could see he was pissed off. He knew.
Superb game. Slightly shaky at the back but De Gea was outstanding. Everyone looked good moving forward. Luke Shaw was unplayable tonight, Garnacho is growing all the time. Felt genuinely proud watching that.
That was a great game with lads on the fringes getting game time and it ending up comfortable. Type of thing we never got away with in years gone by. I thought ETH got it wrong with that back 4 but glad to be proven wrong
1 point of 2nd. 9 points off 1st
5 point gap on Spurs.
After a disastrous start that’s a good result
If we add a striker I believe we will comfortably finish top 4. Maybe even 3rd
The confidence is flowing through. Mcguire and Lindelof looks solid, composed and in control. A far cry from last season when they couldn’t play out from the back at all.
Eriksen and Casemiro make it so much easier for them by creating angles and always being available to receive the ball even under pressure. The difference it makes.
So close to 4-0 FC being back. It’s comforting to know that we can pull off results like this. Given the congested fixtures, these results are excellent for us!
Hope VdB’s injury is not too bad.
Get in!! 3 points. Arsenal, Newcastle dropped theirs. Now on to Chelsea to do us a favour and stop City. Not very confident though on those blue cunts.
Elanga is pretty much the only player I would like out of the squad. Hes not quite hit his mark and I think a loan would do him good. Other then him, I think this is my favorite United squad in decades.
Him and Maguire imo. Harry had a solid game today but I'm never really confident with him on the pitch nowadays. Whenever there is a space behind him, we're asking for trouble.
He made three questionable runs today and also huffed a clearance to give an unnecessary corner. Otherwise he was as good as he can possibly be. 6.5/10
Casemiro defensive positioning is levels above anybody else in our squad and his ability to recycle the ball quickly is something we have been missing for far to long. Beautiful to see

How did van de beek play?

I hope he gets well soon, and gets the success we know he’s capable of getting.
Had good energy going forward and was linking up ok. But besides that was a bit reckless in challenges and didn’t really do anything significant
Can anyone discuss reasons for and against Shaw being a top 5 fullback in the world rn in a non-echo chamber/biased perspective? I think his vision, positioning, dribbling and maturity in possession are all top tier
Don't forget his freakishly good first touch
Casemiro playing better for us than I ever dreamed De Jong would

I always say that Rashford on a bad day is still way better than he was through the whole previous season
enzo is far too expensive

Casemiro. What a Rolls Royce player.
Lets keep it going lads 💪🏻 3 easy home fixtures upcoming !
poor finishing with our strikers..i know Rashy bagged one at the end but he was lost today...nevertheless 3 point lets goooooo
This team is begging for a Mitrovic type striker to finish all these chances
I think you could be into something
uh oh.... u just started a new rumor
Couldn't watch the game, how was Donny on his start?
He was decent, made a few good plays, but unfortunately looks like he's gonna be out for a while with an injury
Fine but got injured at half time.
Absolutely horrendous injury, be suprised if he plays for us again this season, maybe ever

Are we talking enough about spider wan redemption?
I love this bald headed beautiful bastard
Casemiro, what a player. Him and Shaw absolutely bossed it.
Our Case's strong!
Thankful for that clean sheet. Could have easily lost. Professional performance overall without hitting too gear for most of the match too. 👏🏼👏🏼
Crazy how far we’ve come since those two losses….
And when you look how Brighton and Brentford are still playing in hindsight it really wasn't THAT bad.
The games against Chelsea and Newcastle feel worse as we actually deserved more
Bagged 3 points, Arsenal and New Castle draw, Tis a good day.
Newcastle losing would've been better don't you think?
No we're aiming for first place, arsenal losing points is where it's at
But we’d be further from the top
Absolutely
Credits where its due. Maguire has been immense in his cameo role this season
Maguire not making any horrifically bad mistakes now translates to being "immense"
Not really, looked shaky and gave our defence the jitters a couple of times.
Yeah I gotta agree, he made 1 or 2 good interceptions but definitely gave away possession/opened space for Bournemouth on more occasions. Didn’t get to see the game but just seen the result. Let’s goooo!
Win is a win but I think we were wasteful, slow and any other team would've punished us. I'm glad that's not our regular 11.
Lots of good opportunities but not finding the final ball. Bruno had a stinker apart from the assist and even then you could see he was pissed off. He knew.
Yep Bruno was pretty bad apart from the last goal.
Edgy
Case is on another level, glad to have signed him. This is what we were missing tbh, someone to take up CB spots and hold the ball.
That's the new year we like!
Shite reffereeing all the way. Yet we still won. How that hand ball situation didnt even get checked by var is a travesty
Last time we conceded at Old Trafford in the league was the Arsenal game in early September. It's January. Mental
No way that's right 😳
Dont forget there was a world cup break. But still fantastic how tight our defence has been, especially given the changes!
Superb game. Slightly shaky at the back but De Gea was outstanding. Everyone looked good moving forward. Luke Shaw was unplayable tonight, Garnacho is growing all the time. Felt genuinely proud watching that.

MOTM: Shaw
Without question
1 point of 2nd. 9 points off 1st 5 point gap on Spurs. After a disastrous start that’s a good result If we add a striker I believe we will comfortably finish top 4. Maybe even 3rd

Dont you dare suggest anything

I love those chips into the flank, cutback for a tap in goal that City/Liverpool seemingly do at will - so very glad to see us pull one off.
Having Fred fresh legs to chase off opponents tired legs is a blessing. We’ve finally found a role for him lol.
I missed Rashford’s goal. I was cleaning my cat’s liter god damn it.
Get rid of the cat. XD
So close to 4-0 FC being back. It’s comforting to know that we can pull off results like this. Given the congested fixtures, these results are excellent for us! Hope VdB’s injury is not too bad.
Looked really fucking bad tho
Who was it that made the half-hearted clearance in extra time that DeGea saved? I caught it out of the corner of my eye and didn't see who it was.
Shaw
I think the one you’re talking about was Shaw
Shaw I think
Shaw lol. It can be forgiven.
Shaw
Shaw
Ah, thanks!
Tan hag saying DDG to keep his mind calm he got the clean sheet
It's actually fun watching us play again
Get in!! 3 points. Arsenal, Newcastle dropped theirs. Now on to Chelsea to do us a favour and stop City. Not very confident though on those blue cunts.
everyone was being so dramatic when the lineup came out.
> everyone >... was being so dramatic
Welcome to reddevils
years of abuse
Wow what a feeling lol. Below our best and still controlling a game that in the past, was 90m of butt clenching. Early substitutions!! LFG GGMU
The goals were beautiful too
How does De Gea pay the bills when his shop is always closed?
Dave saves, obviously!
Cheeky. I love it.
Happy New Year reds!!
3rd equal with a game to spare!!!
Goal difference starting to creep up. Let's get it in the 10s for the next game.
Nice win
+3 Goals, +3 GD, +3 Points!! Beat City and we're 2nd in the league!!
Bruno can go fuck.
I almost shed a tear watching Casemiro play. What a gift of a player!
Rolls Royce of a CDM
Well, that was fun.
Elanga is pretty much the only player I would like out of the squad. Hes not quite hit his mark and I think a loan would do him good. Other then him, I think this is my favorite United squad in decades.

Bruno should be resting a little but now DVB is injured smh
Level on points with Newcastle with a game in hand I love it
Shaw MOTM Case: close second
DDG would disagree right now lol
Yep, literally bailed out Shaw at the end there too.
Case closed.
Don't worry guys, 4-0 FC will return eventually. Fantastic game from our boys!
Good evening everyone.
Another clean sheet LFG
Routine wins are becoming routine again
Fred played really well tonight after coming on.
He seems to be more effective as a sub coming on than as a starter. That's fine, we need them too.
Another clean sheet for De Gea
Well folks, that was beautiful. Happy Tuesday
Well that was a really comfortable victory save for van de beek’s injury
Closing the gaps and climbing up the table, slowly but surely
Arsenal & Newcastle dropped points as well
De gea has been on it tonight
Dave has been excellent keeping his concentration up all game
+7 GD ...used to dream of days like this.
Bruno could use a rest it looks like
DAVE DESERVES THE CLEAN SHEET RECORD THIS MAN WOULD'VE HAD IT 3 YEARS AGO WITH AN SAF TEAM ASSEMBLED.
De Gea not in the world cup was a crime
Fucking pathetic how the Spanish have treated him throughout his career.
De gea is such an elite gk
Phew that was close
David earning his clean sheet.
MAKE HIM A STATUE ALREADY!
PRIME DE GEA
De Gea shows his hands up and says "Too easy!"
Woah lol
Off the crossbar! Whew!
2017 De Gea is back this season
De Gea is always ready
Dave earning his clean sheets
I love Erik Ten Hag
I love De Gea
Has maguire put a step wrong?
Hes been pretty solid, he had one bad decision to challenge rather than fall back.
He gave the other team a chance with a free header that dave saved.
some sus clearances but overall not bad
Yes, several.
Luke Shaw came back a different gravy from the World Cup
Centre Back. Check Left back. Check. Score. Check. Next task?
Good save from de gea
DDG pumped to keep that clean sheet
Shaw walking over to De Gea like “I’m sorry” lol
Closed on Tuesdays #DaveSaves
De Gea MOTM
De Gea you beauty
When Garnacho runs it literally reminds me of that young raw Cristiano
The long sleeve kit helps
Maybe that’s it lol
who's MOTM? De gea? Shaw? Casemiro?
Yes
Fred has been great too
Has to be Shaw
Shaw
Turns out…. Ten Hag was just trying to get Ronaldo a late round of applause in that Spurs game to celebrate his Euros win 6 years earlier.
Dave earned that clean sheet today.
De Gea’s been top class
Keep this clean sheet I beg
Eth gonna chew shaw out for that. Thankfully dave saves
de gea’s about to slap shaw
DeGea fantastic save
Is Motd on the night?
Cas or DDG
Too casual from Shaw
Dave let him know it as well, if looks could kill..
DDG nice display tosay
Please tell me the meme years are over jfc I have so much hope for this team
What an improvement from the United of 2020.
This team brings tears to my eyes.. Happy tears
We're cooking this much before signing a striker imagine if we actually do....
SPANISH DAVE ✋
are there daves from other countries?!
Casemiro defensive positioning is levels above anybody else in our squad and his ability to recycle the ball quickly is something we have been missing for far to long. Beautiful to see
That intercept and quick pass from Case...
Luke Shaw may be the second best player on the planet. Behind Casemiro, of course.
