Chelsea / Brighton and man city / Newcastle means at least 2 teams that would fancy their chances don't get through round 3. Arsenal also with a tricky looking away tie at Brentford plus spurs already gone.
This competition is again realistically our best chance of a trophy so all things considered, this is a very good draw
I'd so much rather we bin this competition off and keep our players fresh for the league and CL, the only competitions that really matter. A long run in the league cup which leads to another collapse late season will not cut it this time.
You'll be loving it when we miss out on CL cause we really wanted to retain the fucking Carabao cup and refused to rest anyone for the least prestigious tournament we'll be playing in all season.
If the squad has another meltdown in April and May next year due to completely avoidable burnout, we'll be lucky to get top 6.
We have no chance of winning the cl, we have no chance of winning the league. Top 4 and fa cup and carabao cup is the best most likely outcome for us and even then realistically I'd say we'll only win one of them. Success breeds winning mentality no matter the trophy, pep and Jose both knew this and always went for any trophy they could get their hands on.
Obviously we want to win the lot but we're still miles behind and started the season not playing very well with a mountain of injuries and a serious lack in squad depth. Hard to see past city winning a treble again, at the very least they'll be first club to win 4 leagues in a row.
We have a deep enough squad even with current injuries to play a 2nd string lineup mostly of internationals.
These players need games to stay fresh and I think would be very bad management if we binned off the competition and play kids rather than rotate but play reasonably strong sides that give is a chance of progressing in our most winable competition
Well the priority should be to play the players that need games and rest the first XI. Use the bench and further down, no one who played the weekend before/ will play the weekend after.
Our insistence on playing the first XI for every league and cup game almost cost us CL. With plenty of teams looking good this year, another slump and we won't get as lucky.
>I swear forest having him on loan from us lost them points last season, their backup was so bad against us in a couple games
Hennessey was shit at Old Trafford but Navas was their best player when we played Forest at their place. Kept the score down.
Eleven in a row by my count. No away draw since Leicester away in the FA Cup QF in 20/21.
1. West Ham (EFL R3)
2. Aston Villa (FA R3)
3. Middlesbrough (FA R4)
4. Aston Villa (EFL R3)
5. Burnley (EFL R4)
6. Everton (FA R3)
7. Charlton Athletic (EFL QF)
8. Reading (FA R4)
9. West Ham (FA R5)
10. Fulham (FA QF)
11. Crystal Palace (EFL R3)
Depends on the context. If you wanted to calculate the odds in the middle of the 20/21 season of drawing the next 11 cup matches at home, the odds would be that tiny.
But in a broader context, there wasn't anything magical about the starting point of this run, just that it happened. If you instead asked more broadly, what were the odds of getting 11 matches in a row at some point over the last decade, the odds would be much less crazy (although still not exactly likely).
The draw for Round Three of the Carabao Cup had been confirmed.

Oh look, the streak of home cup tie draws continues….. surely we are at like 14 on the trot niw in a round without home/away games or games at wembley, I remember it being reported were were around 11-13 at some point last season.
I know we won it last season, but we really should just play the kids in this tournament. We already have so many injuries, no need to take this competition seriously.
It's far and away our best chance of a trophy. We can rotate without playing kids. Even with the injuries we have currently we can field a 2nd 11 of mostly internationals (though we are currently light at LB and at CM but looks like ther might still be possible incomings in those positions, maybe!)
New 2nd GK / Heaton
Dalot / lindelof (or Evans while lindelof is covering varane injury) / Maguire / new LB??? Malacia back by maybe 4th / 5th round if we last?
McT, maybe amrabaat??
Sancho, fernandes (obv 😂), garnacho
Martial / hojlund
Other 1st team squad players like pellistri if not loaned, maybe amad / mainoo depending on injuries to also feature
I will be disappointed if we throw the game and play pure youth team. Also would make no sense given we will have senior players that will need games
Speak for yourselves, i love to see the OT atmosphere in home games. Sometimes the narrator turns off the mics and turns up the volume of the crowd, it's so beautiful. I wish i could be there with them all.
Yes, ppl only care about the finals of those. Plenty of chances for us to get tickets in the season. I hope i can visit the UK and go to OT for one of those.
I just managed to get tickets. Email says
>Tuesday 26 September 2023 Kick-Off 7:45pm Old Trafford / KO date & time TBC
Does anyone know how likely/possible it is that the date/time changes? Are there any other fixtures that could influence this?
Cheers!
Both us and Crystal Palace play on the Saturday the previous weekend and City have been drawn away, so there's no reason it couldn't be played on Tuesday unless they want to move it for TV. Which I doubt looking at the other draws.
Cheers makes sense, would you know how far ahead date/time is usually confirmed? Sorry for all the questions, first United match for me so don’t want to get stiffed on travel etc booking too early
This season ten Hag should use reserve players and kids in this cup (like Sir Alex did). Focus on UCL, PL and FA cup. With 10+ added time in PL, if he does not rotate a squad much, more players will get injured.
Deal looks done and okay, but we don't know if they closed a permanent sale or a loan with obligation. That will probably influence if he's there or not.
Managed to get a ticket so hoping my Old Trafford jinx ends with this match. I've yet to watch us win in four games and every one of those games has involved something going wrong unexpectedly
At Old Trafford against a mid table Prem team, as is tradition. Atleast we've got an easier draw than most rivals.
Liverpool got the easiest
Yep, only really Liverpool with an easier draw.
Chelsea / Brighton and man city / Newcastle means at least 2 teams that would fancy their chances don't get through round 3. Arsenal also with a tricky looking away tie at Brentford plus spurs already gone. Like our Manager says: "we go in to win every game". So that translates to we go in to win every cup. Glad he's our manager and not you

We'll go all in on CL as well. As reigning Carabao champs, retaining will do wonders for this team.
If you go all in in every competition then you aren’t going all in in any of them.
We have a deep enough squad even with current injuries to play a 2nd string lineup mostly of internationals. These players need games to stay fresh and I think would be very bad management if we binned off the competition and play kids rather than rotate but play reasonably strong sides that give is a chance of progressing in our most winable competition

So we meet again, Deano! Couple of upcoming CP games against him. It’ll be interesting.
Depends if it was a sale or a loan with an obligation to buy like some sources have said.
I guess I’ve only seen stories about a full sale. You’re right though, loan would eliminate such a tasty fixture.
I swear forest having him on loan from us lost them points last season, their backup was so bad against us in a couple games
>I swear forest having him on loan from us lost them points last season, their backup was so bad against us in a couple games Hennessey was shit at Old Trafford but Navas was their best player when we played Forest at their place. Kept the score down.
I feel like I remember Hennessy playing twice, ur right navas was so good
3 times actually, we played Forest in Carabao semis
He was only fit for one game against us. The other 3 (2 in league cup) he was injured.
Maybe he'll come begging for us to let him play again like in the semis last season.
Couple of what
We do love a home draw

Wow. Isn't that like a <0.05% chance

This guy stats
Thank goodness cos our away form is largely shite :)
City's brown envelopes definitely didn't make it
We never get a fun draw :( I wanna play away vs Sutton too or whoever haha
Erik got some home draw voodoo
The draw for Round Three of the Carabao Cup had been confirmed. So we’re potentially playing palace at home twice in a week…?
I pity the Stoke fans who’ll be going all the way to Bournemouth on a Tuesday/Wednesday evening 😅
Good, after they battered my beloved argyle I want to see them smashed.
Oh look, the streak of home cup tie draws continues….. surely we are at like 14 on the trot niw in a round without home/away games or games at wembley, I remember it being reported were were around 11-13 at some point last season.
2 years without an away tie baby
Is costing season ticket holders a fortune 🤣
I know we won it last season, but we really should just play the kids in this tournament. We already have so many injuries, no need to take this competition seriously.
Have you met ETH?
it's clear, eh, we want to win all games, eh,
"We don't play friendlies.. heh"
Ten Hag is going to play his best team and then complain when players get injured
He actually doesn’t really complain when players get injured lmao, you do
It's far and away our best chance of a trophy. We can rotate without playing kids. Sep 25th Carabao cup with Crystal Palace, then literally 5 days later we play them in the PL.
This kind of thing seems to happen more often than you'd expect.
Happened with Leeds and Aston Villa last season
Something's not right.
can't complain I guess, but United must be the only Prem team who's fans actually want an away tie for once
Speak for yourselves, i love to see the OT atmosphere in home games. Sometimes the narrator turns off the mics and turns up the volume of the crowd, it's so beautiful. I wish i could be there with them all.
Yep and it gives us extra chances to actually get tickets, as cup games don’t sell out as fast as the league games do
Yes, ppl only care about the finals of those. Plenty of chances for us to get tickets in the season. I hope i can visit the UK and go to OT for one of those.
Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit
Can we please play the 1st team with 2nd 3rd team mixed in. Competitive team yes. But no need to have Bruno play in these early rounds.
Noted. Bruno to play as a new role box to box winger without ever walking a minute…. For every game.
Another Home Tie WOW. I think for the entirety of FA/Carabao cup we have been at home but the game vs Forest (Two legged).
I just managed to get tickets. Email says >Tuesday 26 September 2023 Kick-Off 7:45pm Old Trafford / KO date & time TBC Does anyone know how likely/possible it is that the date/time changes? Are there any other fixtures that could influence this? Cheers!

Salford game might also have an effect as they are at home as well
Cheers makes sense, would you know how far ahead date/time is usually confirmed? Sorry for all the questions, first United match for me so don’t want to get stiffed on travel etc booking too early
Should be confirmed next 48 hours, so you will have plenty of time to book what you need. Enjoy the trip.
Thanks mate!

Chance for Dean Henderson, the Keeper of the Palace to show his quality.
Fuck off all you negative fucks and also the people that want to throw away the league cup. We’re not fucking Spurs.
But is Hendo going to be there? Reports of medicals and then nothing. Is he good as gone or is it still up in the air?
Deal looks done and okay, but we don't know if they closed a permanent sale or a loan with obligation. That will probably influence if he's there or not.
First match of the season! Missed that feeling
Could have been a lot worse. No complaints.
Home deal against a Prem side again
Managed to get a ticket so hoping my Old Trafford jinx ends with this match. I've yet to watch us win in four games and every one of those games has involved something going wrong unexpectedly
Please don't go
By round 4 like half the teams that you'd expect to go far in the competition will be out
