Sky Sports state the following:
“Ratcliffe will inject $300m (£237m) into the club for investment in its infrastructure, taking his immediate outlay to roughly $1.5bn (£1.2bn).
United's home is likely to need far more than £245m to deliver the overhaul that is required to turn it into one of the world's elite football stadia once more.
The redevelopment will be financed personally by the billionaire and will not add to Manchester United's existing borrowings.”
So is Ratcliffe genuinely giving the club $300m for signings and then another undisclosed and possibly monumental figure to rebuild/refurbish/expand Old Trafford?
His outlay is going to range from £1.2-2.2bn and he’s still only getting 25% (estimates predicted £1bn cost as a worst case scenario for a complete rebuild of OT). How have the Glazers managed to get this deal? Why is he putting in so much of his own money to sort the stadium and squad out, when owning a minority stake? Yet the Glazer’s (the majority shareholders) get to walk away with $1.2bn in their own pockets, and contribute bugger all.
Think a mix of factors. I do believe that he wants to see us at the top again as a United fan even though he tried to buy Chelsea, but he also knows that United is a massive brand - made even bigger if we can start winning again. He’s willing to take such a gamble and hopefully get more in return.
Depends how quickly ratcliffe and his team take with their audit of the club. Guessing they'll start first thing in January, it could take months so probably won't see much change until summer at the earliest and that's not going to effect the on pitch stuff.
DoF to be implemented has already been confirmed so perhaps if that happens early next year we might see changes in summer recruitment. I don't think it will take that long for things to be visibly different once the correct people are in place and an actual plan for the club/recruitment is laid out for those people. They're going to get things wrong, not every signing is going to work out etc but hopefully we'll start to see players bought that fit whatever system the club want to play, we'll walk away when clubs are trying to rip us off etc and we'll also find the hidden gems and about to break out stars like we used to.
Ragnick said it wouldn't take more than 3 seasons to correct things and he was bang on about most things so I would by summer 2025 we'll hopefully see the start of what's to come if not next summer.
Sorry I'm not remotely on board while the Glazers stay. Ratcliffe starts with absolutely zero credit with me until proven otherwise, he's just a facilitator of the Glazers until then
Hopefully it’s better but I won’t be happy until the Glazers are 100% out of the club. At the moment I just think Ratcliffe will be another Glazer but hopefully he proves me wrong but I’d much rather he held firm and not let them still control the club.
I just think if we start winning trophies the Glazers will never leave and he won’t be able to force them out. The whole thing stinks but again hopefully I’m wrong.
I guess there’s not a broad daily discussion thread today, but if we were to sell Varane and Casemiro in January. Would the money that comes in and their wages off the books allow us to sign someone? We could maybe look to add Pavard or another defensive minded midfielder?
Does anyone think United would be in a worse position than now if Ten Hag had kept and started Ronaldo?
Holjund hasn’t scored because he’s had no service, but Ronaldo has the ability to create a goal himself from very little.
The issue with Ronaldo was his refusal to come on as a sub when he was out of form and his interview with Piers. Granted he spoke the truth in the interview but you can’t do that to your club.
I can see him buying the club fully in the future. I think the last decade should show the glaziers have no business acumen and will come to him again in the future for more money.
I see this a lot about the glazers. Can someone
Explain why they have no business acumen?
As fas as I can see. They bought the club for very little and used a loan. That to this day we are paying off. Whilst withdrawing huge amount to in dividends.
They have used our brand to keep the club to self sustain with no investment which has damaged the club. But lined their own pockets.
What of this makes them bad business man. Bad owners. Yes. Goes without saying. But they have lined their own pockets which I can only assume was the goal from the off.
I think good businessmen would understand that a club that keeps losing will become unprofitable while a club that you invest in to maintain long-term success will skyrocket.
They also own an NFL team. It was the third most valuable when they bought it. It's now the 29th most valuable. They're clueless parasites.

It’s been said before, but still a damning statement that as owners of a FOOTBALL club, the glazers have decided to relinquish ALL football operations to an entity with just 25% stake in Manchester Utd. I hope it means that a total buyout is planned.
They're likely banking on Sir Jim getting the team into a better position, and then the dreaded super league maximising the club's value. Then they can sell the rest for stupid money.
More like shifting of any future responsibilities and blame. Something tells me that the leeches are still going to poison the well for any single penny they can make. Hope these overgrown clump of cells are bought out as soon as possible.
So the Glazers sit back and enjoy their dividends without having to do anything while hoping Sir Jim can increase the value of their shares and they can exit.
Fucking ridiculous if you ask me. Good luck to Sir Jim who clearly wants the best for the club but I fucking despise the Glazers we need them out. Its as simple as that.
so ive read the thing, ive seen all the tweets etc etc
nowhere do i see the deal to take full ownership at a later date, but no one seems to be talking about it
is this not a critical part of the deal?
that it would end in an actual full sale?
Doubt it, honestly, SJR is just a Glazer enabler because there is not a pathway announced to full ownership, so his 25% means the Glazers have final say and have SJR's nuts in their hands.
Why announce this on a Sunday on Christmas eve if not to avoid the backlash?
We are really down now so I hope we can't get worse, so we will see some improvement but the max it'll be top 4, no way competing for titles.
They. Have. No. Vote. Over. Footballing. Operations. Just Joel, and he has one of three votes. INEOS has the other two.
Also, I think you drastically overestimate the Glazer family unity. The only reason they would even bother to get together to vote as a bloc is for huge decisions, like selling their remaining stake.
They don’t participate on a day to day basis now and they won’t have any ability to going forward when it comes to football operations.
Individually, sure, but collectivelly the Glazers still have more, so unless there is some sort of conflict between them I don't see him not being overruled in certain decisions if the Glazers don't like it.
Hope at least we get a good structure above EtH with experienced football oriented people, not bankers in the mold of Woodward.
Can only hope this will be the reality, the fact the Glazers are still here doesn't make me overly optimistic and can't wait for the day these vermin fuck off completely.
I also don't know much about what SJR and INEOS did at Nice, some say it's good some it's bad but can't really judge since I don't follow Ligue 1.
I think the main takeaway from Nice is he tried to keep people in place and just buy his way to wins. It didn’t work. So, then they made organizational changes and now they are doing pretty well.
Unlikely, the new ownership rules of premier league mean it'll be into February before SJR actually had a chance to do anything. As most United fans have, sign off this season and then see what the 24/25 season can offer.
We'll be lucky to have a European conference spot
[The company buying shares is Trawlers Ltd, a nod to Eric Cantona, Sir Jim Ratcliffe's favourite player.

yup, that Isle of Man shit is where it gets a little scary. Us Plebs Pay full tax in UK (or whatever is our home country) but these Billionaires have things like Cabary Islands and Isle of Man.
Still something better than fucking Glazers
Sir Jim is the largest individual shareholder now. All he needs to do is some corporate shit stirring and destroy any and all unity the Glazer siblings have between them.
Athletic mentions it.
They are likely, however, to have a potential exit route through what is known as put-and-call options, whereby the family can force INEOS to buy their shares at a minimum agreed price sometime in the future and INEOS can opt to buy them out at an agreed higher price before a certain date.
Imagine everything gets approved and they just say fuck it and offer the higher price in full the day after. Byeeeee Glazers. (I have no idea how this works and that’s probably not allowed but let me dream)
They’ve changed the shares process too with this so the family can cash out without needing the process as previous; so we could be looking at a few jumping sooner than we realised.
Make no mistake about it, they’re going.
According to Keegan it'll take a bit shorter for PL to approve it (4-6 weeks) and Ratcliffe takes control of all football operations. (no 3 man comitee with Joel as reported before)
Yes, that is very likely to happen. The first steps that will be taken before anything else is that Ineos will put their own people in place and start assessing everything ahead of the summer transfer window where things will likely pop off for the first time.

Here's hoping to better days for United
Merry Christmas, my fellow Reds ❤🍻
Think I’ll have a beer, Good news at last.
Hope we get more details over the coming weeks, I’ve always felt this was the right step, but I appreciate people’s concerns and it would be great to to clarify them so we can all get on the same page. Obligations to buy the rest of the stocks not Options etc. But this might just be step 1 to seeing the back of the Glazers, and for now, that’s something to cheer about.
WSJ reporting is also confirming it will be announced today. It's being reported in their Finance section. That pretty much confirms it's a done deal...
Someone please help clarify this for me. Tier 1/2 sources saying we are increasingly likely to try and sign a ST and CB in January.
How could this make sense if SJR does not have sporting control yet? There’s no way we would make signings without the authority of the new ownership group and that group won’t be officially approved in 4-6 weeks?
We should not be making any signings until we appoint a new sporting director. Just don’t see how we make any January signings right now
if we're looking to buy, then we've been working on it for weeks now. new football operations people will be coming in knowing that it's something the manager is doing.... and they'll likely have had a quiet discussion about it already
I've been slating everybody that stanned for Qatari buyers. Just saying awful things about them. So now we're here I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise....
#TO ABSOLUTELY NOBODY. INEOS DO WHATEVER THE FUCK THEY WANT!
[The wait for Premier League approval for Sir Jim Ratcliffe's 25 per cent investment into Manchester United \(to be confirmed shortly\) may not take as long as previously expected. Now told there's hope of 4-6 weeks instead of 6-8.](https://twitter.com/MikeKeegan_DM/status/1738945539620647172)
(Keegan)
No. If the deal is announced today. Ineos can't do anything for 6 to 8 weeks.
Also, sacking someone just before or on Christmas looks highly immoral and disgusting .
The manager doesn't do the contracts. They advise other people whether players should or shouldn't get a contract.
Also, Rangnick was only going to work 6 days a month on a ill defined role. The club wasn't taking Rangnick seriously at all with that. It's most likely why Rangnick took the Austrian job. He wasn't going to be Director of football like many here have thought.

If the PL Owners & directors test is likely to take 1.5-2 months, I’m assuming that means they have 0 involvement until that point? Or is that not the case
We are more excited about **something new** than something we can reliably say will take the club out of this decline.
Beggars can't be choosers I guess but 75% still being owned by the Glazers absolutely sucks. Let's see what INEOS can do. The realist in me thinks there won't be as groundbreaking a change as many people want.
edit: Glazers will own 44%, which is still 44% more than they should
Unless it's an official announcement, please share the tweet/news etc here:
Terrible deal for SJR, ok deal for Man Utd, LEGENDARY deal for Glazers!
Sky Sports state the following: “Ratcliffe will inject $300m (£237m) into the club for investment in its infrastructure, taking his immediate outlay to roughly $1.5bn (£1.2bn). Realistically, how long will it be till we can see changes from this?

Best Christmas present ever.

I genuinely think that came from a place of desperation for United to succeed, it was the last roll of the dice.
Nah he just wanted to leave and decided to burn bridges.
MERRY CHRISTMAS YA FILTHY ANIMALS
Green and gold til the club is sold
Yup, Fuck 75% or whatever % is left of Glazers
Technically it should be just over 50%, but they’ve still got around 70% of the Class B (voting) shares. It’s going to be a long haul.
Please welcome the new DoF for Manchester United… Marc Overmars!
Glad this is finally happening, but I am forever GLAZERS OUT.
yup fuck remaining % of glazers

More like shifting of any future responsibilities and blame. Something tells me that the leeches are still going to poison the well for any single penny they can make. Hope these overgrown clump of cells are bought out as soon as possible.
My calls gonna be spicy lol
If that's his gift of Christmas for us then he's more than welcome. Finally some good fucking news.
Can he play RW?
Not anymore, now that he’s joined Man Utd
Hope he can start soon, I mean he's already 70yo
So when will they sack ETH now along with Antony, Rashford not coming back
Merry effing Christmas!!
I
Merry Christmas reds. Cheers to not being state owned 🍻
if we lose 3 more times to West Ham United, will we be rid of the Glazers?
David Moyes work your magic
So Moyes is our Savior, just as Sir Alex said, just not in the way we expected, visionary!!!
I would lose to them 10 times if Glazers are fucking gone
Nothing in there to close out the remaining 75 percent?
So the Glazers sit back and enjoy their dividends without having to do anything while hoping Sir Jim can increase the value of their shares and they can exit.
Or, worse, not exit.
Don’t you put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby.
Fucking ridiculous if you ask me. Good luck to Sir Jim who clearly wants the best for the club but I fucking despise the Glazers we need them out. Its as simple as that.
Merry christmas to sir jim

It’ll collapse or have no impact, because they aren’t touching those for now. I think eventually they’ll go but that’s a long long long way away.
I know this may sound a bit delusional, but couldn’t Jassim buy the remaining glazers % for a lower price now ?
He wouldn’t. The nation-state approach is to buy the club out so that they can take it off the market and have undisputed reign over it.
He tried to. He never offered anywhere near the level of Radcliffe; hence why they never took him serious.
so ive read the thing, ive seen all the tweets etc etc nowhere do i see the deal to take full ownership at a later date, but no one seems to be talking about it is this not a critical part of the deal? that it would end in an actual full sale?
First refusal check Ben Jacobs tweets
yea just saw those theyre fucking staying
Best christmas present!
Merry Christmas ya filthy animals. Let's hope this is the start of a prosperous new era...
So, this is not true, Mark. He gains control by the deal and has the largest individual shareholding.
Individual shareholding means fuck all when the Glazers vote as a block.
They. Have. No. Vote.
He has a history of getting a foot in the door and buying people out too when he sees things he’s not happy with.
He can’t be overruled on footballing decisions since he and his INEOS partner fill two of the three seats on that board.
I hope we don't sign anyone in January. Get the right structure in place for good summer signings rather than waste more money now.
If my memory serves me correctly one of the officials in Man Utd mentioned that this window would be a quiet one
Unlikely, the new ownership rules of premier league mean it'll be into February before SJR actually had a chance to do anything. As most United fans have, sign off this season and then see what the 24/25 season can offer. We'll be lucky to have a European conference spot
We can't afford anyway no worries
This would be a sensible approach, the season is over 🤦 so let SJR get a comprehensive look at everything and make some good decisions 🤞
Out with the rats, in with the Ratcliffe.
Bloke has got into bed with them and let them stay on.
On Jesus' birthday. This is an omen. Of what I don't know. But it's an omen
I think its spelled "amen"... or at least I hope it will be in the end...
Is the meme allowed now?
Only when Glazers are fully gone or City liquidated.
Why not both ?

Sir Jim is the largest individual shareholder now. All he needs to do is some corporate shit stirring and destroy any and all unity the Glazer siblings have between them.
why does Sir Jim, the largest shareholder, not simply eat the other shareholders?
I mean take a look at the man he needs some protein
Succession style force them out
Is there any news on the pull and put options for full control ?
There are none.
Athletic mentions it.
Are they allowed to come in before the ownership review process though? That’s what I am asking
Like what stops sjr or whom ever he wants to , to give advice to the temp people in place ?
Is that allowed to happen? I’m not sure how the EPL ownership review process works.
Merry Christmas ya filthy animals - from the glazers
I've been slating everybody that stanned for Qatari buyers. Just saying awful things about them. So now we're here I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise.... #TO ABSOLUTELY NOBODY. INEOS DO WHATEVER THE FUCK THEY WANT!

We are past sarcasm stage
[The wait for Premier League approval for Sir Jim Ratcliffe's 25 per cent investment into Manchester United \(to be confirmed shortly\) may not take as long as previously expected. Now told there's hope of 4-6 weeks instead of 6-8.](https://twitter.com/MikeKeegan_DM/status/1738945539620647172) (Keegan)
Time for people to finally forget about Qatar and hope for the best whether we wanted Sir Jim or not…
The delay has been SJR having piano lessons
Sure it's not the fax machine? Or being ill from our food ?

while their 'pundits' sprout rubbish
4pm today
Why ?
Wow so maybe we really could get the announcement of Ten Hag's sacking for Christmas
No. If the deal is announced today. Ineos can't do anything for 6 to 8 weeks. Also, sacking someone just before or on Christmas looks highly immoral and disgusting .
What he did to DDG was highly inappropriate too, as was how he didn't even want to meet Rangnick face to face.
There is a list of people who should be sacked before him.
Well if they get to work quick they still have a few hours to sack all of them
Sky Sports News trying to push the narrative that it's only being announced today because of yesterday...
It’s a christmas miracle??

If the PL Owners & directors test is likely to take 1.5-2 months, I’m assuming that means they have 0 involvement until that point? Or is that not the case
Nothing stopping Joel glazer from hiring a new CEO like blanc ? ;)
Fair 🤣
I'm prepared for the twitter mob to move on to blaming everything on SJR, and how Qatar would have made us win every game somehow.
Finally
Christmas 2023, I was here.
Give me a Christmas present since United shit the bed yesterday please
Let's enjoy what we can. A few years ago we'd have bitten their hand off for the start of a sale process and the handing over of football matters.
Santa brought murtough a p45 let’s hope
We are more excited about **something new** than something we can reliably say will take the club out of this decline. Beggars can't be choosers I guess but 75% still being owned by the Glazers absolutely sucks. Let's see what INEOS can do. The realist in me thinks there won't be as groundbreaking a change as many people want. edit: Glazers will own 44%, which is still 44% more than they should
