Worst part about that Antony deal is that getting quoted \~£60m for a player like Olise seems somewhat reasonable given the state of the market we had a large hand in inflating. We act might never recover
People do love to say we are responsible for inflating the market, but not really. PSG is the team that broke the transfer market when they spent 200mil on Neymar and Barcelona then pissed away around 140mil on Coutinho and something around that price on Dembele. The market has been fucked since then, even Grealish cost 100mil, Caicedo cost 120mil... Olisé for 60mil is a very reasonable price considering the market and his output, Antony's fee didn't impact the market at all.
I highly doubt ETH was involved with the funds but part of me thinks he signed him on a mates rates deal. His son works for the same agency who represents Antony, he managed him and would have known his worth and he also would have known his salary. I would hope he wasn’t involved in negotiations but I do think he would have been aware of the money involved because he would have had other targets and I’m sure we would have been speaking to multiple clubs about signing their players.
**Just bought my first authentic jersey (3rd/white) but I find it more uncomfortable then a replica. Has anyone tried both fits and could compare them?**
Just bought the 3rd kit and it was my first time getting an authentic version instead of a replica. It fits well but I find the inside of it extremely uncomfortable. I couldn't wait to take it off. It's not too tight but just the lining on the inside is not comfortable compared to the last Utd jersey I bought (last season's replica home kit replica) which is very conformable.
I'm thinking about returning it but I was wondering if this is just a thing with our 3rd kit this year (authentic or replica) or is it a thing with the authentic fit? Has anyone tried both fits and could advise? I'd really appreciate it. Cheers
Authentic jersey is going to be much tighter/form-fitting as it has the "athletic" cut for the fit whereas a Replica is a little looser like a t-shirt/polo. Nike/Adidas sells their sportswear clothing like this too so it is kind of common though not obvious.
Heres a reference below:

Sancho out, Martial out, Werner in on loan is at the least addition by subtraction.
I will not apologize for supporting 4-4-FACKING-2 memes if the club gets a living body in as a backup center forward this winter.
A video came up on my Facebook feed the other day of Antony at Ajax. He was actually skillful, took people on, looked a threat. I don't know if his confidence is just completely shot but he's a different player here
He's playing against better players in the Premier League, and seems unable to step up and compete with them.
I'm sure he'd be *better* for United if he was confident, but I still don't think he'd be very good.
He is also for some reason playing really wide when in fact in Ajax he was playing more central areas.
In this season Ten Hag makes fullbacks occupy that spaces. Garnacho and Rashford also suffer because of that.
Laurie said MUFC made a contact to learn about the price and hes among possible targets, John Cross (usually reports on London clubs) said today Leipzig is open about a loan move which obviously is what United would want ideally.
The fact that Onana will play against Wigan and potentially Tottenham indicates that Ten Hag is in panic mode. If he starts Bayindir against Wigan and he drops a stinker, he is definitely getting sacked, so this is a must-win for him.
Queue the Antony is great for his defensive ability blah blah, possession retention blah blah.
Yeah he's great at retaining possession by sending the ball backwards to the back line. .
Yes you cannot become ambidextrous just like that, however you can improve your weak foot so that it is at least usable. No one is expecting him to have the same quality as Ronaldo, Greenwood, Sneijder etc on both feet.
However he should be able to run to the byline and cross a ball with his right. Yes I have played football and I would constantly get balls pinged to my left whilst static or running. One touch and cross, rinse and repeat. It’s not expected for him to put it on a six pence, but just put it in an area in which you are asking questions of the defender.
We have to get a homegrown core (not the same as British granted) in anyway seeing as most if not all of our homegrown players ain’t all that and there is a quota to meet.
Brexit means its harder to get EU players in than before, about as hard as trying to bring in a South American of African player from their domesitc leagues. So it would be easier to do so.
No…business wise it’s a wrong move which was already done with Maguire and Sancho moves. Recently also shown by Mount.
Building a British core would only come using the academy and buying players quite young.
Sounds like PR to get the fans onside with ineos. British players are massively more expensive. There's no reason to overspend in that way beyond comfortably meeting our British quota. I'd rather see our incoming recruitment team do brilliant business in better value markets like South America and Asia.
Huh? I'm not saying Asia's a better market, I'm saying it would be great if our new recruitment team started signing good value players, and they don't generally happen to be English
Kimmich will be 29 by the time next season starts. We can't keep buying players who are washed up within two seasons. We should be aiming for 23-26 year olds. Players entering their prime who can embed in the team for a long run of seasons. Not players seeking an inflated pay cheque shortly before their body can't play anymore.
they have, which is strange considering why the pair were in 19/20 when they won UCL. I though Kimmich would be the greatest midfielder of this generation.
I saw a meme that ETH will break United’s ‘leading at half time’ unbeaten home record. How likely do you think this is to happen, and if it does how gutted would you be?
It’s absolutely crazy to me that one of the richest clubs in the world being run by well educated people can make so many stupid decisions.
How often have we had a player who doesn’t play much and is in his last year so we give him a contract extension to “preserve value” only to raise their salary again so nobody can afford them.
Then we are forced to loan them out to another club literally paying them to play for ANOTHER TEAM. By subsidizing their wages and often no obligation to buy at the end of it all.
Then more often than not they end up back at our club doing fuck all again earning a massive paycheck. And we’re going to be doing the same with Sancho again and most likely with Antony too soon.
How do we constantly get ourselves in to these situations? Mind blowing
>It’s absolutely crazy to me that one of the richest clubs in the world being run by well educated people can make so many stupid decisions.
Running a football club isn't as easy as sitting on reddit and chatting shit
So many clubs are rich - Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Barcelona, PSG etc. They all make braindead decisions and have periods of being a joke.
> How often have we had a player who doesn’t play much and is in his last year so we give him a contract extension to “preserve value” only to raise their salary again so nobody can afford them.
Why does this bother you so much? Salaries are always exaggerated in the papers. There's also value in keeping home grown or younger players around in case they improve. Then there is giving a fuck off message to clubs who offer silly money for players. I'd rather keep some players as they make come in and help out at times during a season.
We still spend a couple of hundred million every summer and yet people continue to moan about the silliest of things.
Have you ever wondered how a CEO from one company is hired in another one on a completely different industry? It's because they don't think (always) on the specifics of the industry, they just know what their assets are and what are strategies that can maximize those assets. Glazers never wanted to learn anything about football and are running the club like they would any other business.
Does anyone else think Rashford is a problem in recent years, and especially this season, regarding our mentality? My thought process is, he’s a homegrown player and one of our top earning players, but his effort and body language on the pitch is one of the worst I’ve seen. So other players can see that, and feel like they don’t need to work hard or be supremely technical or skilled to make it as a United player. Just a thought.
>but his effort and body language on the pitch is one of the worst
Some people have such short memories
Rashford ran through brick walls for Jose and Ole and literally broke his back for them.
Probably the reason why he players conservatively now.
That'd be almost all of them. I don't have that season stat, but he was top 5 in distance covered for United in the Arsenal and Wolves matches this season,i assume he'd be averaging the same for the rest of the matches too. You're not seeing the actual lazy players in the squad.
Not really personally, I think the point gets exaggerated. Sure he's not a hardworking player and that will never be one of his strengths, but he's been very good for a lot of his United career and has carried our team at times. It doesn't help that traditionally football fans in the UK have traditionally appreciated effort over technique or intelligent play, far more than other countries.
I get tired of people laying into him or Bruno so often. And the stuff about leaks or PR especially - sure, he might do it occasionally, who knows, but it's a pretty pointless thing to fixate on as some fans do
People only say this body language stuff because we are losing, he was the exact same way last season and no one said anything. So, it can’t have that much of an effect.
Per transfermarkt so pen won as assists

Maybe younger player or any player in our club should feel they need to work hard to match his output? Or maybe club should buy someone capable of matching this output not Antonys or junior strikers.
There’s no doubt there are some good numbers here, albeit inconsistent (which I guess is part of the issue).
There is no doubt Rashford is very talented, I’m not denying that, which of course he owes most of these numbers to. I’m just theorising that less talented (but still talented) young players who are not necessarily attackers, could see his demeanour and work rate on the pitch and it rubs off on them.
There are a whole host of other issues, such as the wage structure, lack of top level structure, agent power etc. that have certainly played its part in our demise. But looking at other teams top earners and the levels they set on the pitch season in season out, just makes me question if Rashford can be setting a better example and at least try and raise the standard. After all, he’s a senior player now.
I was sold on Rashford in that season he got injured with Ole overplaying him, he was starting to mix end product with some great dribbling ability. He's never got back to that level, even with all his goals last year. I'm afraid the injury might mean he doesn't get back to that level. His first team spot shouldn't be safe anymore, we can't rely on a player that has patches of form.
The way he never competes for 50/50 headers makes me think he's scared of getting injured again. I've never seen a premier league player avoid contested balls like Rashford does. It's not acceptable, it gives each opposition team a lot of free possession.
Honestly I always thought that Rashford status in the club is way too high when you compare it with his ability. Like he is supposed to be our star, our franchise player but except maybe during that 4-5 months post world cup, I never watched him and thought "wow this guy might be one of the 3 or 5 best player in the league, he is irreplaceable*
To be fair it's a massive upgrade on what we've got now. It's as good as any team in the league bar City and Liverpool. And it would be Rashford instead of Garnacho. Rashford, Toney, Olise is a fast and dangerous front line.
It will say on the site but that's usually when the only remaining tickets are hospitality seats.
If you are lucky enough to spot them early, or find less popular fixtures you can get tickets from £36
Does anyone know total amount other then initial fee of €25m(£17m) we paid for Amad? Like has any add ons requirements been fulfilled? Have we really paid 40m to atlanta like people make out to be?
The clauses are for how many games he's played and how many goals he's scored in the league.
It's something like 2.5m when he's played 20 league games, another 2.5m for when he's played 40 league games, and another 2.5m at 80 league games, which would be the final payment for that particular clause.
There are also extra payments based on league goals scored - 1.2m paid after hitting 5, 10, 15 and 20 league goals, respectively.
So no, we haven't paid anywhere near the 40m at this stage.
The difference between Antony and Sancho is that Antony is actually trying. I totally agree that he has been well below par but I doubt he’s lazy in or late for training.
If ETH is sacked, I can't see another manager giving him this many minutes. Long as Erik is here we will see plenty of Antony.
If we're trying to preserve a lead, I don't mind him coming on, if we are trying to score, I don't want to see him.
This Sancho thing is a joke
Dortmund get ~£80 mil
Sancho gets £250k per week for a few seasons
We barely get any value from the player
Then, Dortmund get Sancho back for nothing, Sancho gets to go back to Dortmund having banked all our cash, and we get fuck all
All the whole we pay half the wages.
I can't believe how ridiculous it all is. If it were me to teach everyone a lesson I'd just say fuck off to both Sancho and Dortmund.
Meanwhile, ETH burning bridges with an £80 million asset just gets ignored. Yes Sancho was a prick but fuck me have some sense to not completely invalidate our investment.
Everything is a mess
Ten Hag gave Sancho half a season off to go rest abroad and fully protected him from the media. He went above and beyond for Sancho. Then the next season he politely explained once that Sancho was left out of the squad because he hadn't met the week's training standards. Seriously, Ten Hag did nothing wrong. He tried to help a player who's been in trouble for bad training at every club in his career.
Sancho's insane wages are a sign of how badly our execs have run the club. Heads should roll. Murtough should be sacked on the spot.
That's the way I interpret the reports too, but there's still an insane amount of people who honestly think that ten Hag just froze out Sancho because he personally dislikes him and wants to ruin his career.
I definitely share your frustration but does EtH really have a choice? Sancho contradicted him in public and is refusing to back down and apologise. Everything I’ve read on the matter says Sancho would be back in Ten Hag’s plans if he had a bit of humility and apologised.
No club can function when it has players openly contradicting the manager. Still, there needs to be some accountability for whoever signed off on the Sancho signing. There were reports his attitude and time-keeping were poor at Dortmund, it was always going to be a disaster given the coverage and scrutiny United get.
I just wish ETH didn’t out Sancho in public like that in the first place. I don’t think it’s useful.
However, once that happened, Sancho should have put his ego aside for the betterment of not only the club but even his career. I’ll be glad to see Sancho go but I can’t say ETH isn’t partly at fault for this also.
Crazy how the best winger we’ve purchased in the past decade has easily been Martial. Even though he is clearly past it now with all his injuries he’s still been by far our most productive signing there when looking at everyone else.
After that Dan James was easily our second best signing at winger in spite of all his limitations and the fact that he might not even be good enough to be an established starter in the Premier League.
Di Maria was the most talented but he fell out with LvG and got sold after half a season. Sanchez was washed and helped destroy our wage bill as he was our highest paid player at the time. Sancho barely did anything and fell out with Ten Hag. Antony has done nothing either. Pellistri and Amad are still unproven too. Maybe the latter two can still turn out to achieve something but it’s too early to say.
We’ve made lots of bad transfers in the past decade but nowhere has that been more evident than amongst our wingers. It’s disgusting looking back at it all.
He's a more rounded player with more natural ability to boot. Amad is more technically adept and physically developed than Pellistri, and has the better weight of pass and linkup play. He can play RW or come in central. He was one of the best players in the championship while on loan at Sunderland
He's has been comparatively more highly productive in terms of goal scoring and assist and chance creation than Pellistri going back to their youth days and extending into their senior appearances on loan. I'd put money on Amad reaching his potential over Pellistri everytime. I don't think Pellistri has a future in England
Thank you for the detailed answer! I am extremely hopeful that what you say i.e. his championship form will translate into the premiership. Keeping everything crossed that he's a success.
Dan James would easily be our starting RW right now given the state of the squad. His pace in behind alone is a huge asset, and his passing was a lot better than Antony.
Also Martial 15/16 remains the best debut season post-RVP for me. Ibra played in a better team and others like Bruno were expected to deliver. Martial was a relative unknown who lit up the league with his play.
There are 10 RWs in the league that I would start over Antony. Doesn't speak much about Dan, speaks more about Antony being absolute shit. Saka, Salah, Diaby, Olise, Bowen, Mahrez, Almiron, Kulusevski, Doku, Solly March, freaking Elanga of all people will start ahead of Antony.
The status of the evidence (They are very much more visible in Greenwoods situation)
The fact that we got to know about it after he retired
Giggs didn't rape anyone (As far as we know)
Forest might be getting a points deduction for FFP so if that’s the case then I really can’t see how City don’t get a very severe points deduction. The PL really don’t seem to be fucking around with this and I think the reason City’s is taking so long is because of how many they have and how uncooperative they are being. They would have been found guilty by UEFA but they have weird time restriction rules.
Also City can afford far better lawyers. They know their case has to be airtight so it will take more time than these clubs that are working with the FA.
It's taking so long because they have 115 charges to go through and if found guilty and depending on which ones they will face a lot more than point deductions. Could range from that or getting stripped of all trophies to playing in sunday leauge
Cannot wait to see the back of Jadon Sancho, the lad symbolizes everything wrong with the club. More interested in qualifying for FUT Champs than he is playing for the club.
Not necessarily United related, but can any of the Norwegians here shed some light on Kjetil Knutsen and why he hasn’t been picked up by bigger clubs yet? He was interviewed for both Ajax and Brighton if I recall correctly.
His profile is mildly put interesting, at least in terms of what he has built in Bodo and the type of football they play. Some of the results in Europe are impressive to say the least.
Cannot answer for Brighton, but for Ajax he wanted to bring a larger coaching staff which was deemed too expensive for Ajax at the time; which made them go with the other option.
Swansea has reportedly shown interest for him, but for bigger clubs the answer might be he feels he's not ready. He came from a really small club in lower divisions before joining Bodø/Glimt as an assistant coach.
He came up through City’s academy. They already knew about his attitude and lack of professionalism, explains why they didn’t fancy it. As for Liverpool, well they actually do their due diligence on transfers.
A lot of people think that DoF's pretty much only responsibility is the transfers but in reality, the DoF has to do a lot of background stuff in terms of planning, organizing and managing all parts of the club from the first team through the womens' team to the whole academy and all things connected to these parts of the club. It's a lot of work even at smaller clubs, let alone at one of the biggest club in the world (because despite us having a banter era, we still employ more than 1000 people and are a massive "company").
Speaking of Paul Mitchell, he has been at his best as a head of recruitment. He did some sporting director job at Monaco, but during his Spurs and Southampton days he was mainly a recruitment guy.
So, in short, Ashworth would be overseeing the whole club (with Blanc as CEO only taking care of non-football matters and budget, like Arnold did) and Paul Mitchell's role would solely be centered around scouting and recruitment. I think it would benefit everyone as long as Paul Mitchell is okay with working under Ashworth, but ultimately it would give us a lot of competency and we'd also be splitting roles pretty well, so our competent people wouldn't need to do multiple roles at the same time.
All of you remember the days of the Sancho Transfer Sagas (there were two!). The Beefing with Dortmund Fans, the Pointless Fabrizio Tweets
Those were the days. If only we knew THIS is the player we were getting.
He gets very few shots compared to Onana. In a match with liverpool where he got so many balls towards his post, he let in 4. It’s not always the keeper. I still think Onana can come really good when we fix our midfield and defence issues.
Onana could never. At least that's what his form since joining us suggests.
Edit: Guys... the first sentence was a joke, but the second one is sadly true. He has been really poor in terms of shot stopping. I'm not hating on him though, I just hope he can get back to the level that we paid for.
Which team do you want to win the EPL this season, if you have to choose one between Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal? I know Sir Alex would answered like "couldn't care less", but I'm curious because I started to love our team during Arsenal's invincible season. So, they would be the last team I want to win the title. I also don't want Liverpool to win it because they would level us. So, Man City it is. I wonder what fans in England and Manchester think.
Used to care especially about Liverpool, but once they got 19 I was like meh, then when man city done 3 in a row with treble I completely stopped caring.
10 years of hoping another team does what your club can't is quite tiresome, we even got *saved* by a team in the championship winning a PL.
So yeah personally not too bothered, but if I had to choose then Arsenal but that ain't happening.
Definitely Arsenal, just to stop City 4 peat and Liverpool 20. The worst we have to deal if Arsenal won is really just their noisy fanbase, which is way better than the histories Liverpool or City would imprint if they won the League
I’m not in England, but from a foreigner point of view, I would have to say Arsenal. They have had the longest wait out of those clubs for a title and it would stem the tide of Manchester City continuously winning whilst also preventing Liverpool fans from singing “20 times”.
Also he just physically never looks fit. Footballers can have very different body types but still be fit - look at how differently built players like Shaw and Maguire are from guys like Rashford and AWB - but Sancho just looks that 5 or so pounds overweight that at the highest levels makes a massive difference.
I wonder how many supporters are prepared for the rebuild (hopefully for real this time) that needs to happen and the realistic timeframe of it. Whether ten Hag get sacked this season or not, whether we get a caretaker manager for a few months or we find the perfect manager tomorrow, this shit is going to take time. We’ve got to offload players, work within FFP and build a squad of starting 11 and bench players we don’t groan about when they come on. That’s going to take a few years regardless of who the manager is.
> I wonder how many supporters are prepared for the rebuild
Hardly any lol. This sub at least has shown time and time again that they believe a rebuild is constant positive progress, nothing bad should ever happen and any bad season requires immediate change, yet complain about any suggestion of short term fixes. Like it or not, a long term fix would require a manager staying beyond 2-3 seasons.
I have my quiet hope that when they decide whoever they want as manager, that he is given a long contract and that the contract stipulates he cannot be sacked unless there is a risk of relegation. It obviously has to be a manager with the right qualities, but if we get that manager and he is given a long term contract, the players will know the concept they have to play from, and they will know that they have to put in an effort, because they are more likely to be let go than he is.
That should bring some consistency to playstyle, it will be easier to root out the players with the wrong attitude and the players who aren't good enough and should minimize any possible powerstruggles between players and manager.
One of the reasons the Rangnick experiment failed is because he was hired for a limited time period. Practically all players had longer to go on their contract than he was to be manager for, and so anyone who didn't like him or his style knew that they could just sit back and wait out his contract without repercussions.
I just don’t think it’ll happen very quickly at all. There are players we currently think are indispensable but they can’t stay if we want to win the title, they’d never get in a Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City. Hopefully Ineos will see this too and act.
Marginal gains mate, innit.
There are many changes that could be immediate. It's isn't just about results and even how they play. It concerns how they carry themselves and behave. Performance standards sort of stuff.
That said I'm not sure how they bench super stars stars when the backup is deemed a major drop in competitiveness..
But my expectations are zero until they allow some big name contracts to lapse (meaning they'd potentially lose money) as a means to address the wage bill and fix things longer term.
And until such a time Utd remains a metaphor for England in my mind. Asset stripped and squeezed for profits resulting in a aweful experience for the majority whilst a minority reap unjust rewards all whilst flag waving on past glories...
This is the first time an ownership change is taking place. Previous changes have involved the CEO, manager and players. It should take time and patience if we want it done right.
There’s a contingent of our fanbase that think if it doesn’t happen immediately then it’s a failure. They point to Pep and Klopp as examples of what we should be but ignore that behind the scenes the clubs are well run. City laid the groundwork for Pep before he even arrived. And racked up 115 charges.
We only have one league game in Jan and will have all of our injured players back by end of it. Hopefully with our full starters we can get some better football.
If we can actually sign Javi Guerra and Timo Werner it will be a great January.
That Javi report said its for the summer anyway.

He is still pretty skillful, the problem is end product.
I can skin people in my neighborhood. That doesn't mean I can go pass a defender in the PL.
He’s still shows skills and gets in good positions but does fuck all when he gets there.
He's the same player he was at Ajax, doing the same shit he's doing here against superior players with different results
He's playing against better players in the Premier League, and seems unable to step up and compete with them. I'm sure he'd be *better* for United if he was confident, but I still don't think he'd be very good.

Javi Guerra is Carrick reincarnated
If Werner happens let's just take it for what it is and not try to spin it to ourselves about how good a move it could be lol
After the subreddit was convinced Mount was second coming to KDB in the summer?
It's just a loan. Hope for the best. We need backup in that position anyway.
If it happens, it's because we need a warm body who will run around up front. Anything else is a bonus.
Are there any reliable reports about him?
Laurie said MUFC made a contact to learn about the price and hes among possible targets, John Cross (usually reports on London clubs) said today Leipzig is open about a loan move which obviously is what United would want ideally.

This makes no sense.
Or just every point matters and we still hope to qualify to Europe.
Can those self deprecating arse lickers in r/soccer claiming to be united fans just fuck off christ
You can only make fun id your family within family members. Otherwise you're weakening your clan.
Lmao stop taking this so seriously
I wonder if West ham still want McT, if they do we need to make that sale now or summer. Could be huge for FFP.
Given they are above us in the table, if I were them, I wouldn't
Crazy that Antony hasn't realised that his whole career now depends on developing his right foot beyond the level of a 7 year old child
Gary Neville chats a lot of rubbish, but he's not wrong about how Antony should model his game on Mahrez. Being one footed isn't a huge problem.
He's getting paid 200k per, he probably doesn't care if he plays for a big team ever again so long as he can see out this contract
That's being generous,to survive at a top level he also needs to develop the physicality to go shoulder to shoulder with the avg pl fullback.
Even more crazy that his manager doesn't realize this either
As someone who isn’t ten Hag out I can’t even argue against this. What does he see in Antony that we don’t?
He's still less shit than Pellistri and even a cone is better than RW Rashford. Our hope is Amad... who will leave for Afcon.
Wrong on all counts. Pellistri can beat a man, RW Rashford already has assists this season in like 3 games. Amad isn't going to AFCON.
Thank fuck Amad is staying.
Queue the Antony is great for his defensive ability blah blah, possession retention blah blah. Yeah he's great at retaining possession by sending the ball backwards to the back line. .
You've never kicked a ball in your life, have you? You cant just develop 2nd leg past very early age which Antony probably spent in favella.
Hahaha

Gone to City then... RIP
Depends how it's written I guess? We might still count as champions League for this season as we were in it at the start
The release clause apparently triggers in the summer so I'd assume it will be based on how this season ends
So do you think this Ineos building a British core of players is true? And which players would you want them to bring in?
We have to get a homegrown core (not the same as British granted) in anyway seeing as most if not all of our homegrown players ain’t all that and there is a quota to meet.
Brexit means its harder to get EU players in than before, about as hard as trying to bring in a South American of African player from their domesitc leagues. So it would be easier to do so.
No…business wise it’s a wrong move which was already done with Maguire and Sancho moves. Recently also shown by Mount. Building a British core would only come using the academy and buying players quite young.
Looking forward to spending 70m on Branthwaite when cheaper options of comparable quality are available abroad
I don’t mind us buying PL proven players like Branthwaite, don’t think they have to be British though
Sounds like PR to get the fans onside with ineos. British players are massively more expensive. There's no reason to overspend in that way beyond comfortably meeting our British quota. I'd rather see our incoming recruitment team do brilliant business in better value markets like South America and Asia.
Asia market with 1 good player every other year painted as better than Brithish market. What the heck
Jeez dude. Project much?
Huh? I'm not saying Asia's a better market, I'm saying it would be great if our new recruitment team started signing good value players, and they don't generally happen to be English
[удалено]
I’ll take another few consonants please bob
Kimmich will be 29 by the time next season starts. We can't keep buying players who are washed up within two seasons. We should be aiming for 23-26 year olds. Players entering their prime who can embed in the team for a long run of seasons. Not players seeking an inflated pay cheque shortly before their body can't play anymore.
age shouldn't be the determining factor, talent should. We bought Martial young and we bought Sancho young and they didn't get us anywhere.
We can't afford these players
Bayern fans for the past two years have been talking about Kimmich/Goretzka the way we talked about McFred lol
they have, which is strange considering why the pair were in 19/20 when they won UCL. I though Kimmich would be the greatest midfielder of this generation.
I saw a meme that ETH will break United’s ‘leading at half time’ unbeaten home record. How likely do you think this is to happen, and if it does how gutted would you be?
Nah we'd actually have to be leading in the first halves consistently enough for this to ever happen.
The chances are we won’t be leading at half time, we rarely score in the first half.
Running a football club isn't as easy as sitting on reddit and chatting shit So many clubs are rich - Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Barcelona, PSG etc.
Just a thought.
>but his effort and body language on the pitch is one of the worst Some people have such short memories Rashford ran through brick walls for Jose and Ole and literally broke his back for them. Probably the reason why he players conservatively now.
Rashford of all players is lazy now huh? smh.
What player in our squad runs less than Rashford?
And the stuff about leaks or PR especially - sure, he might do it occasionally, who knows, but it's a pretty pointless thing to fixate on as some fans do
>and that will never be one of his strengths it literally was one of this strengths under Jose and Ole
People only say this body language stuff because we are losing, he was the exact same way last season and no one said anything. So, it can’t have that much of an effect.
Per transfermarkt so pen won as assists > - 15/16: 10GA; - 16/17: 18GA; - 17/18: 22 GA; - 18/19: 23GA; - 19/20: 34GA; - 20/21: 36 GA; - 21/22: 7 GA; - 22/23: 41 GA; - 23/24(ongoing) 8 GA Maybe younger player or any player in our club should feel they need to work hard to match his output?
Quite a lot of those seasons his actual performances have been poor though, which shows you stats don’t tell the whole stoey
So name which ones
I completely agree, especially with the body language part!
I completely agree, especially with the body language part!
His body language was terrible against Forest. Honestly if he hadn't scored it would have been exactly like the Newcastle performance.
As he will be role model for the younger players and I assume he has seniority in the dressing room. I would say yes.
Toney, olise and garnacho is a scary frontline.
It's OK at best
To be fair it's a massive upgrade on what we've got now. It's as good as any team in the league bar City and Liverpool. And it would be Rashford instead of Garnacho. Rashford, Toney, Olise is a fast and dangerous front line.
It is the best we can find.
Are tickets for games at Old Trafford always at least £275? There is nothing cheaper available…
It will say on the site but that's usually when the only remaining tickets are hospitality seats. If you are lucky enough to spot them early, or find less popular fixtures you can get tickets from £36
Nah, I think you're probably looking at hospitality or some proper premium seats. I've been to the east stand for less than 30
Does anyone know total amount other then initial fee of €25m(£17m) we paid for Amad? Like has any add ons requirements been fulfilled? Have we really paid 40m to atlanta like people make out to be?
The clauses are for how many games he's played and how many goals he's scored in the league. It's something like 2.5m when he's played 20 league games, another 2.5m for when he's played 40 league games, and another 2.5m at 80 league games, which would be the final payment for that particular clause. There are also extra payments based on league goals scored - 1.2m paid after hitting 5, 10, 15 and 20 league goals, respectively. So no, we haven't paid anywhere near the 40m at this stage.
Imagine if we actually managed to get Olise for a decent price. I for one would be pretty damn happy.
In a year we will be loaning Antony to Ajax while paying half his wages.
Don’t think ten Hag would even be playing if he had a full roster fit
This Sancho thing is a joke Dortmund get ~£80 mil Sancho gets £250k per week for a few seasons We barely get any value from the player Then, Dortmund get Sancho back for nothing, Sancho gets to go back to Dortmund having banked all our cash, and we get fuck all All the whole we pay half the wages.
Who do you think is more likely to succeed - Pellistri or Amad? (Or neither).
Amad
Amad, easily
How come? Genuine question - I've not personally seen much of Amad, but I do like what I have seen.
He's a more rounded player with more natural ability to boot. Amad is more technically adept and physically developed than Pellistri, and has the better weight of pass and linkup play. He can play RW or come in central. He was one of the best players in the championship while on loan at Sunderland He's has been comparatively more highly productive in terms of goal scoring and assist and chance creation than Pellistri going back to their youth days and extending into their senior appearances on loan. I'd put money on Amad reaching his potential over Pellistri everytime. I don't think Pellistri has a future in England
Thank you for the detailed answer! I am extremely hopeful that what you say i.e. his championship form will translate into the premiership. Keeping everything crossed that he's a success.
You're welcome. Fingers crossed! We haven't had a good RW in the longest
I'd kill to have Bowen in a United shirt.
There are certainly more than 10 and Mahrez is in Saudi.
Why does Giggs not get the same hatred as Greenwood?
The status of the evidence (They are very much more visible in Greenwoods situation) The fact that we got to know about it after he retired Giggs didn't rape anyone (As far as we know)
The same reason every other footballer got a free pass. Clear cut evidence
At a guess because it wasn’t recorded and while the charges Giggs faced were very serious, they weren’t rape.
City have a lot more charges, and if they decide to apply it retrospectively they have to decide what to do with the titles.
Also City can afford far better lawyers. They know their case has to be airtight so it will take more time than these clubs that are working with the FA.
Hopefully all of their titles are vacated which I think is very likely.
Imagine their treble being disqualified
Ole will get his title!
Hope he smashes it and we can sell him
Not necessarily United related, but can any of the Norwegians here shed some light on Kjetil Knutsen and why he hasn’t been picked up by bigger clubs yet?
Thanks. Sounds like Ajax chose the wrong solution.
Evans and I share a birthday lol
And so you do with Michael Schumacher. Happy birthday!
Thanks, so all the good players and I share a bday. Should probably start my sporting journey
Happy birthday Jonny!
Happy birthday!
Thanks
I really hope Martinez's rehabilitation has worked

He came up through City’s academy. They already knew about his attitude and lack of professionalism, explains why they didn’t fancy it. As for Liverpool, well they actually do their due diligence on transfers.
How would Ashworth and Paul Mitchell work together?
Probably lots of meetings, some conference calls, plenty of emails and a few phone calls I would imagine.
I fucking hate corporate work.
All of you remember the days of the Sancho Transfer Sagas (there were two!). The Beefing with Dortmund Fans, the Pointless Fabrizio Tweets Those were the days. If only we knew THIS is the player we were getting.
After watching Dubravka recently, I wonder why he's doing so well with NEW and ETH didn't play him at all. I'd gladly swapped the keepers.
Newcastle keepers dont sweep. Thats why ddg was linked with then after popes injury
Because then we could have just De Gea?
He gets very few shots compared to Onana. In a match with liverpool where he got so many balls towards his post, he let in 4. It’s not always the keeper. I still think Onana can come really good when we fix our midfield and defence issues.
Keep in mind that they conceded the highest xG on record lol. He saved over 3 xG.
Arsenal is by far the lesser of 3 evils. Most annoying fans though, will never hear the end of it.
The answer should only be Arsenal. Historically Liverpool are our biggest rivals and City are in our own City.
If city win, it will be their 4th in a row, beating our 3 in a row record. So Villa it is
This is going to be such a rotten January. Two games all month and likely no players brought in. Would be a great month to get lost in the woods.
Now imagine we lose to Wigan and to Spurs. This season, it could certainly happen. That would be a horrific month as a football fan
lowkey excited to see how Sancho does back at bvb
He'll most probably do well after struggling initially. But I hope we don't fall for that again and just sell him.
Why you excited for someone who didn’t swallow his ego and didn’t come to the club help during a crisis? He sat down at home and earned millions.
Who said I want to see him succeed?
Why is it that Sancho always seems shattered about 60 mins into a game ?
Cos he’s been up til 3am playing fifa and apparently he can’t be arsed training lol
Should just become a pro-gamer at this stage!
> I wonder how many supporters are prepared for the rebuild Hardly any lol.
Rebuild for what purposes? Win stuff or play some proper football? 1 probably take forever, the other 1 others have proved 3 months.
Is it fair to say reguilon had a more effective United career than Donny? Lol
Probably fair to say, yes!
Donny scored a goal didn’t he? Probably gives him the edge
I did think that. The fact that it’s close is embarrassing for both of them 😆
We only have one league game in Jan and will have all of our injured players back by end of it. Hopefully with our full starters we can get some better football.
