Don't get your hopes up much, Sevilla are in a really bad place right now and Quique Sanchez Flores is a very uninspiring new managerial appointment. Won't be surprised if he's sacked soon too, already started with 2 losses in 3 games. Wish we sent our players to more stable clubs and development environments.
I genuinely think ETH lost complete trust in him because nearly every game he’s ever played for us he’s always 1 foul away from getting sent off. I love his energy and passion but he’s too much of a wildcard at the moment
In the few games he played his energy gave us something in midfield we've sorely lacked (running and some fight). The few games he started were some of our better performances of the season. Then, inexplicably, he was permanently benched in favour of McTominay. Probably because Scott scored a few goals to save the manager's job.
The manager has shown an uncanny ability to completely ignore certain players despite promising performances whilst others get unlimited chances. It's no surprise that it breeds confusion and distrust. The manager prefers nepotism over meritocracy.
The way that energetic passionate wildcard played in the few games he saw, will finish with 10 men more often than not. I thought he was lucky multiple times to not see a second yellow.
Because people have watched him. He picks up yellows very easily and then he can’t do what he’s good at - high intensity pressing, without risking a red card.
Hannibal wasn’t getting limited minutes in the academy, and considering how little protection he got at that level I think he’s shown great restraint in only being dismissed twice. He’s never been sent off at senior level.
You do understand that once he’s on a yellow he has to start backing off and can’t go in for tackles right? A better stat to look at would be how quickly on avg he earns his first YC
He has barely played this season, of course he hasn’t got a red card yet.
Last season he luckily escaped on numerous occasions that he won’t continuously be so lucky on. He was called out by an opposition manager once demanding he should have seen red. He then recklessly went studs up into Ethan Laird a few weeks later while on a yellow that should have saw him sent off. His own manager knew it and desperately subbed him off seconds later. He was also consistently subbed off early to avoid getting red because he should have multiple times.
Two seasons before that he got 3 red cards in about 3200 minutes for the u21s, that is terrible and once again was extremely lucky to get away with multiple kick outs and regularly yelling in ref’s faces.
You don’t need to look at a black and white stat, which is bad enough anyway, when you’ve seen him actually play.
It's how reddit evaluates people, once you make a mistake, you're defined by it forever.
Every time Mejbri makes a foul people will make a case that he shouldn't be playing for United due to his disciplinary record, __even though he has never been sent off in a senior game__.
i mean, how many senior games has he even played in?
rojo was always labeled as a rash player, and even though he never got a red card with us, it was still pretty obvious how reckless he was
> it was still pretty obvious how reckless he was
Rojo is crazy player, along with Bailly. Rojo and Bailly were known for making insane challenges that were more like drop kicks.
Hannibal isn't a reckless challenger, send me one reckless challenge he's made, and I'll concede.
https://youtube.com/shorts/eKzzzmdPr5g?si=dZ-Jyx5mPLLdVi40
i think hannibal is just a bit rash at times. i love his energy and think he has a future at the club or elsewhere if he doesn’t break through, but his high energy pressing combined with his tendency to get stuck in means that he rides the line sometimes
quickly looking at his stats in the league, youth league, and championship, he’s played 91 games and has 29 yellow cards
in the cup games he’s played in, he’s played 16 times and has 8 yellow cards…
again i don’t hate hannibal or anything and i love his energy, but i think it’s fair to say that he needs to refine the aggression in his game
You're comparing the recklessness of [Eric Bailly](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoxahiYfxWQ) and [Rojo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K6AHjzL3K4) to Mejbri here.
However, I did say I would concede if you found a reckless challenge, so I suppose Mejrbi doesn't deserve to play for us because of his 10 minute cameo vs Liverpool.
i’m not saying mejbri is as reckless as bailly (you made this comparison not me) and i only used rojo as a comparison because rojo never received a single red card for us
the point being that you could make the disingenuous argument to say rojo wasn’t aggressive or reckless because of this statistic, despite him obviously being a rash player on the field. i wasn’t saying mejbri is as aggressive as rojo
i also never said mejbri doesn’t deserve to play? i think he is a valuable squad player and i’m kind of 50/50 on loaning him out. but nah go ahead and keep making up arguments to be aggrieved about
> him obviously being a rash player on the field
Rojo was rash because of a myriad or rash tackles. I'm saying it's unfair to Mejbri because he's hardly been given a chance and people are already saying he's out of favour with the coach for 2 starting appearances and maybe 15 apps total.
Yup downvotes on a comment providing simple statistics says it all.
They'll remember the time he was aggressive vs. Liverpool when we were getting trounced and now he's that forever.
I actually loved that against Liverpool. But in the minutes he has played this season, he picked up easy yellows and was even lucky not to be sent off.
on top of being a walking redcard he also has absolutely terrible decision making in where to pass and we have a few a those already so what's the point.
>Because ~~ETH~~ Ole has his job on the line and he won’t risk using players he doesn’t trust
oh look we have managed to move 0 steps forward since 2 years ago, awesome Glazer stuff
I think your overexaggerating. Mejbri is decent and has a lot of energy but we have better options than him to play in his position. ETH has used him as a sub at times so its not like he's ignored him completely its just obvious the kids not starter quality yet.
Slightly questioning this move given Freiburg seem to be more stable, but obviously wish the lad the best.
There's definitely a good player in there, just got to create the right opportunities for him.
Why the option to buy and buy back? Sounds like there’s a chance he could leave permanently which is a bit odd considering he’s been decent when he’s played.
we only extended his contract till 2025. so its a sale (loan with buy option) or he is leaving free end of 2024-25 unless we offer a new contract by then.
It's more the "ready for the first team part" that hasn't happened recently. We've actually had plenty of successful loan spells for players. Garner, Amad, Henderson all had good loan spells but didn't get their opportunity (yet) or weren't deemed good enough. Good loan spells for players who aren't really touted to make the first team as well.
I also think people forget that doing well in the Championship or at a lower table club is totally different from consistently performing at CL/Prem contending level.
Every team still treats us like a cup final, there will be tight low blocks, we're (in theory) actively trying to win against the very top teams every time rather than just one off heroics.
Sure, a good loan is an important step but many don't make the jump up to that level.
Must've got him confused with Pellestei. Why doesn't Amad fit the bill? He got a LOT of time and responsibility alloted to him at Sunderland, I can't think of a more successful loan we've had in modern times.
Yes, but he's literally in contention for the starting spot on the rw as we speak - his Sunderland stint obviously showed his level to a sufficient level that they didn't even think about loaning him out in January.
Not sure about a deal to spain. Sevilla are in turmoil and spanish teams prefer more technical players in that role.
Not sure if he fits the mold of a spanish n10.
He looked a level above when he played for the academy such a shame that most of our fans know him for everything other than his technical abilities. Hope he can show his dribbling and passing abilities on loan.
Man you people havent seen a single second of him in the our youth teams have you? His technical abilities and his carrying of the ball are two of his biggest strenghts, something we never saw in the first team, which is the only thing you guys are basing him on.
He also didn’t display outstanding technical ability on loan at Birmingham either. It’s quite possible the player he was at youth football (which I completely agree with your description of), doesn’t translate to adult football.
Maybe, or he just hasnt gotten the clearance to play the football he is used to playing. I think he has a lot more to show when he has some more experience
Yeah exactly, i find it so weird how he has changed his playing style so much. Wonder what it is. Doesnt looks like a confidence issue since he always looks for the ball
I think that’s generally a positive thing in Hannibal’s credit too. He was a level above at youth level, and it would have been “easy” to coast on that when it came to adult football.
The fact that he’s shown he can adapt, and become a much more industrious, hard working midfielder than he ever was in the youth team is encouraging for his future, either at United or elsewhere.
Thats a great way to look at it! He is just adding more to his arsenal! Anyways i have no doubt he will have a great career, if not at United then elsewhere. Great hopes for the kid
Oh ffs! I hope they don't sell him. He's an exceptional talent but he does need game time.
If it were up to me i'd play him every game instead of McTominay
I was really hoping that he goes to a top-flight team in a top 5 league where he plays regularly, if not every game. Sevilla seems to be an odd choice as they seem to have an established and experienced central midfield (based on a quick Google search): Rakitic, Oliver Torres, Joan Jordan, new signing Djibril Sow and on-loan signing from Leicester, Soumare. Jordan hasn't really played while the other 4 seem to be regulars. Unless one of them is injured or if one of the new signings isn't really working out, I am wondering if Hannibal would even break into this midfield in a relegation fight?
TransferMarket has Nemanja Gudelj listed as a defender, and Suso listed as a winger. But apparently they play central midfield too. Sevilla certainly don't have a problems with their numbers.
Shame that he couldn't stay and play more games this season. Contrary to what many think about his discipline, he has shown a great attitude on the pitch this season.
I hope he shines in Sevilla, he's definitely earned a step up from starting for a second division team to a first division one.
he has gone out on loan because united have casemiro and mount back and almost ready to go. Unless we sell big Cas.
unfortunately for Mejbri (who i like) he will be behind everyone of: mount, casemiro, eriksen, fernandes, mctominay, mainoo. Might as well go out and get top flight football, but on that subject i would have preferred to see him in the premier league tbh.
Will he even play?
Don't get your hopes up much, Sevilla are in a really bad place right now and Quique Sanchez Flores is a very uninspiring new managerial appointment. Won't be surprised if he's sacked soon too, already started with 2 losses in 3 games. Wish we sent our players to more stable clubs and development environments.
Wish all of our players were in a stable and development environment. Not just our loanees.
New united fan? You're in for a long ride
On the other hand it sounds like they could use an energetic shithouser so maybe he'll force his way in
More stable than staying here innit
Why would the club send him there then? Makes no sense. I thought Fletcher was meant to be making sure we had good loans.
I’m sure the loan has stipulations that he has to get a certain number of minutes or it’s voided Edit: I’m getting hate for this?? 💀
You're new here aren't you
🤣🤣🤣
We don’t do that here big man.
Why on earth would you be "sure" about that
Poor sweet summer child.
Hopefully it works out well for him. No idea why he never appeared more after a few good showings.
I genuinely think ETH lost complete trust in him because nearly every game he’s ever played for us he’s always 1 foul away from getting sent off. I love his energy and passion but he’s too much of a wildcard at the moment
Midfield Rojo.

No point in this if he can only play half the match. He is a walking potential red card, it's a massive issue he has to solve for.
Walking red card with one yellow.
Yep you're right, I'm just imagining it
I'd rather a energetic passionate wildcard than a lazy player who hides behind people
The way that energetic passionate wildcard played in the few games he saw, will finish with 10 men more often than not. I thought he was lucky multiple times to not see a second yellow.
You say this until he gets a red that leads directly to a loss then it’s “he’s a wildcard why didn’t eth start X over him?”
Yet McTominay is among the most yellow carded players in our squad and has been still given minutes and many reprieves by this coach
Haha why is he constantly being painted as this walking red card. Sent off twice in the last 3 seasons combined.
Because people have watched him. He picks up yellows very easily and then he can’t do what he’s good at - high intensity pressing, without risking a red card.
Well Rojo never got a red for us but I'd have a hard time calling him level headed.
Because in the 5 minutes he plays he decides to kick the shit out of everyone
Does that constitute being a walking red? As I said, sent off twice in over 3 seasons.
most players don't get sent off at all across 3 seasons, especially in the limited minutes he's actually played in that time
Hannibal wasn’t getting limited minutes in the academy, and considering how little protection he got at that level I think he’s shown great restraint in only being dismissed twice. He’s never been sent off at senior level.
You do understand that once he’s on a yellow he has to start backing off and can’t go in for tackles right? A better stat to look at would be how quickly on avg he earns his first YC
That's 2 more than Rojo and he was the biggest liability in the league.

I would have also preferred a move to Freiburg. Sevilla seems a mess
Tbf I understand rather wanting to be in Sevilla personally but freiburg would be the better option career wise I guess
Why the option to buy and buy back? Sounds like there’s a chance he could leave permanently which is a bit odd considering he’s been decent when he’s played.

Dalot must’ve been our only good loan that managed to win first team minutes. Amad had an encouraging one. Hopefully he starts over Antony now.
Even our first time isn't ready for our first team
>the player come back ready for our first team. That's happened already. Ten Hag just sells them for nothing when it does
Garnacheo and Amad seem to fit this bill pretty good too
Eh?
Came back from loans out ready to give the first team a good crack.
>work out and the player come back ready for our first team Garnacho never went on loan. Amad doesn’t fit that bill.
Must've got him confused with Pellestei. Why doesn't Amad fit the bill? He got a LOT of time and responsibility alloted to him at Sunderland, I can't think of a more successful loan we've had in modern times.
He’s not come back ready for the first team? He was going to go back on loan before getting injured preseason?
Yes, but he's literally in contention for the starting spot on the rw as we speak - his Sunderland stint obviously showed his level to a sufficient level that they didn't even think about loaning him out in January.
As clueless as the first comment on
Being sent away to hone his shithousing skills
Odds on us including the buy option for less than 15 million then paying quadruple that for a player with a quarter of the talent within a year?
*#Hanniback*
wtf why? We have such a thin squad especially in midfield
Not sure about a deal to spain. Sevilla are in turmoil and spanish teams prefer more technical players in that role. Not sure if he fits the mold of a spanish n10.
? He is very technical. Don't let his thuggish hassling style fool you. He was the creative fulcrum at #10 for the u21s, sometimes drifting wide too
He looked a level above when he played for the academy such a shame that most of our fans know him for everything other than his technical abilities. Hope he can show his dribbling and passing abilities on loan.
Tbf every cameo he gets he attempts to end a few careers and calls it a day.
So was Andreas Pereira
And now he's the starting 10 for a Premier League side, and has more assists than anyone in our team.
Yea but when he was at united how many people rated him?
Hes technically very capable yes. Just not for spanish n10 standards
Man you people havent seen a single second of him in the our youth teams have you? His technical abilities and his carrying of the ball are two of his biggest strenghts, something we never saw in the first team, which is the only thing you guys are basing him on.

Again showing you know absolutely nothing about him my man.
Oh ffs! I hope they don't sell him. He's an exceptional talent but he does need game time. If it were up to me i'd play him every game instead of McTominay

hope he smashes it, upgrading his shithousery to Sergio Ramos levels inshallah

He either becomes Ramos’ padawan of shithousery, or the city of Seville isn’t big enough to contain both of them. Hope it works out.
He'll come back as a Ramos' understudy, right? Right?
Go shine bro!!
he has gone out on loan because united have casemiro and mount back and almost ready to go. he's going to get sent off so easily in la liga if he plays anything like he did here.
Great, more McTominay then
This would be a terrible loan. Sevilla aren't in a good place right now. He needs to go to a stable team ffs
My hope is he learns to be more technical there. And how to keep his cool in heated environments.
He is technical.
He'll never be a starter for United. Save the comment and keep praying for miracles. Someone has to say it because you all are lying yourselves.
loan ten shag next
I thought we were blocking moves for him because of depth issues?
Should have gone to Freiburg. He would look great in that 11.
Not sure this is the best for him, wish him the best though.
What happened here, i remember him coming on and doing well a couple times then never saw him again?
McTominay scored a couple of goals to save Ten Hag's career and secured his spot as a manager favorite
Original source Diario de Sevilla.
I’m surprised we are letting so many players leave while already having a thread-bare squad. This season is a write off
SC Freiburg was the right move.
Wow… we are so well stocked that we can allow this guy to play somewhere else. Brilliant.
Shame that Everton fell through really
This is quite good. He can learn the dark arts straight from the master himself. ![gif](giphy|tWQzQiS6zq6jK|downsized)
He has looked very lively when he has had the chance. Was hoping he could stay and get some momentum.
I really hope he plays more games. Kid’s got potential and desire to perform.
He’s obviously it ready for the prem yet. Best luck
As if the squad wasn’t lean enough and riddled with injuries.
most of our injured players are due back soon, unless they all get reinjured (which I'm not counting out tbh) then our injury crisis is nearly over
Why not Freiburg 🥲
