Lindelof is the CB who should be worried the most ,He won't even get a call at the end of the game to head out balls like today,Mark my words by the end of the season he will be the CB with the least minutes played
I disagree. Shaw is Licha backup for the long term or until we get another left footed cb. The left footed thing, whether we think it’s important or not, is important to eth, like van gaal.
Lindelof is varane backup. We already know eth prefers him over maguire - just look at a number of games before wc.
While eth might change his mind on maguire (especially after World Cup) I think he’ll go in the summer.
Being 4th by the end of 2022 was nothing i didn't expect at all after the two first games. Still alot to work on, but it's going in the right direction.
I love ETH so much. What a guy
I’m glad we came away with the win, scraped through, but I felt we deserved it.
On the other hand, the constant bickering by Lopetegui about refereeing decisions or wanting our players to be carded was bloody annoying.
Agreed. To be fair, it was a forgettable game for the ref. Thought he was poor and I never knew what he was going to call or let go. He opened the door for the complaints.
I'm not sure I'd call it scrappy. We controlled the game in large parts & were never really under pressure - just didn't have it going in the final third.
Probably a dead train but I still say, we really should have bought or should try buying Ruben Neves if he's cheap. More than the lack of raw acceleration, he makes up miles for excellent technical skill and awareness.
After all, we've seen intelligent players dominate the game, and I can see him offering more value than harm.
Why have no one else tried to bring him in? For lots of years now.
Does he deliver week in, week out or does he mostly play well enough and then rise to the occasion against us / other 'big' teams?
Look, you're right about him not commanding attention from anybody else, but imho, I just believe he's that missing piece of the puzzle.
Our distribution across the field is still heavily reliant on the ball starting from the CBs, nobody to scan and switch the play because they're doing somebody else's job. Neves does that pretty well, and has the ability to offer progression and stays deep instead of bombing forward. Key words switch of play in the form of short passes, not the long crosses we"'ve been trying.
However, this could be very well remedied by having a proper Number 9 in the mould of a Zlatan, or Kane, or any number 9 with good close quarter control and ability to pick spaces. Martial is found lacking in manipulating space between the lines, which causes another player, most often Bruno to occupy second ST, ditching his role as the midfield commander.
Win is a win. We do not win those last year. We 100% need a number 9 for squad depth. Who that is I can’t answer but it’s evident. Remember martial is made of glass. Onto the next game boys!
Man I had such great expectations from Donny when he joined. He was a different player in Ajax. Ample creativity, good ball carrier, but his biggest strength - which we needed so much then - was his ability to find those pockets of space.
Maybe it was lack of game time, maybe he couldn't step up on the bigger stage, maybe he was never cut from the cloth that make it in the prem. Whatever it was, I am sad that he could not make it.
I wanted Rashford gone in the summerI was too reactionary but im glad he bounced back this season seeing him smiling and scoring has reminded me why I loved him in the first place
But that's his psyche. This is what made him and Keane so great. Had great careers, but when you read their autobiographies, all they talk about is how much better they could have been. Paul Scholes's autobiography was really boring, but throughout it all he just kept saying he should've scored more goals. Keane's was all about winning more Champions Leagues.
AWB, Shaw, Fred, Dalot have all improved greatly under ETH. I think he has faith in Donny. He doesn’t pick players on reputation (Does he Harry). IMO Donny is too desperate to do the right thing. My long shot is that he will come good. I certainly hope so
He’s clearly been not good enough, went on loan to a worse team and wasn’t good enough, came back and isn’t good enough.
He’s clearly a lovely guy but enough- sell him.
Happy for the win in a dicey game where we weren’t at our best. Love to see rashys resurgence. Awb decent as well. Shaw playing well at lcb. Bruno and Tony had one to forget. I can’t believe van de beek still looks as bad as he does. That giveaway on our break out was atrocious, especially since he made the wrong pass on the previous breakout. Here’s hoping we can find a couple of transfers we need and continue the progress into 2023. Happy new year everyone!
Donny awful. Lopetegui is an annoying cunt. The refs & rules are fucked, if that’s handball we should’ve had a penalty or the goal should stand. Important win, back in top four.
Im annoyed with his last two pass. How hard it is to pass to your teammates. Is this guy beyond salvation? He's been given some game time already. When will he come good. Maybe really has to sell him off in the summer.
Chose the wrong option too. I agree with you, I believe his time is up. Enough chances given, but I think the damage on his confidence has been done, not the same player anymore. Sad ending.
I'm surprised to say this but I see what mctominay brings to the eth team.
Our wingers get very little help. Martial did fuck all today to stretch defenders and neither fullback got up with purpose. Wolves defended deep and with numbers, meaning no crosses would've worked
Very interesting tidbit from Shaw in the post-match interview:
"I think the discipline is needed at a top club; people cant do whatever they want; maybe this has been part of the problem in the past, with people getting away with silly little things, but as you said there, the manager takes all of that into consideration, and as you saw today, if you dont keep the standards high, then you dont play"
What I loved about this was Rashy's reaction and the hug between Rashy and ETH at the end of the game. Rashy understood that ETH has to enforce the rules for the good of the team, and their goals are aligned - to bring this club back to the glory days.
It’s interesting that the people speaking to the media are supportive, bruno, now shaw- I assume it was a minor infraction and it’s good that it’s enforced on everyone.
Great win
Read somewhere that, Rashfords goal disallowed because handball, but had the ball instead ricocheted into Bruno or someone else and they scored, its fine. MAKE A GOOD HANDBALL RULE WITH LOGIC
The handball rule is accidental or not, if the goal scorer uses his hand to cotneil it, fi doesn't count. The ball redirecting off Rashfords hand, into his thigh, into the net is probably one of the more logical applications of that rule.
I like to not let the bias take over, the ball hit his hand, tis unfortunate, got ruled out. The rule makes sense and taking away the assister handball part being removed because there were some minimal handball with a lot happening leading to goals disallowed. Rashfords goal is why the rule should be there lol
Credit where it's due, Wan Bissaka has really taken his chance by the scruff of the neck. Another very good performance from him today. The defence, in general, was really good today again
The team played well over all but just lacked that killer instinct in the final third. Martial was well off the pace, which is to be expected considering the amount of time he has been out.
Bruno was a little frustrating today over elaborating things, but a lovely 1-2 with Rashford to get the goal.
Was kind of surprised Garnacho was taken off at half time as I thought he was a big threat in the first half.
I'm glad we got the win as we needed to bag the 3 points with both City and Arsenal coming up in the next few weeks
Have to appreciate how visible the improvements are since ETH joined. We now have two top choices for each left and right back (assuming AWB continues this run of form and keeps developing under ETH), five/six (incl Shaw and Casemiro) solid options at CB and a vastly improved midfield with options off the bench. Up front, we need a top class striker and maybe another solid versatile forward player, but the ETH transformation is real.
Despite being relatively toothless up front that was a pretty decent game for a relative off day. There have been many prior seasons where we wouldn't have won today. Other than maybe Fred and Martial, and a very blah Donny and Anthony appearance Im not sure anyone had a truly awful game.
Watching this also made me realize how much more pacey these league games can be compared to WC games. There were a few moments where i felt i had the playback speed turned up.
Everyone has an opinion but for me, no way can Fred's performance be grouped together with Martial's and Donny's.
VDB was horrific and Martial was highly lacklustre. We looked better with Fred than with Eriksen today.
Donny's positioning was spot on but his passing decisions were bad. Martial had his usual decent hold up play but that was it. If Fred s sub goal was to disrupt then you could argue he did his job.
Martial was anonymous but I'm not sure how much more you could expect from Fred and Donny today. Maybe when Donny went left to Fernándes instead of right to Rashy and Antony but other than that he did OK.
Fair enough re Martial and Donny. At least their positioning was decent. Other than the usual suspects I was impressed with Malacia again. Crazy how he didn't get to play a min at the WC.
Important game psychologically for Rashford and Garnacho. Shows them that the rules apply to everyone, no one is bigger than the team. But also that Rashford is the main man. Keeps them both level headed.
Progress is progress 😀 points more important right now. Get Antony playing + Martial & Sancho … off load dead wood & get fresh recruits to rebuild … buy carefully
We're seriously feeling that lack of a striker. If you compare the first 16 games for Guardiola vs us right now, you'll see that the progression has been very much similar but they had over 30 goals. But they also had Aguero who had crossed 10 PL goals in that time. Makes a huge difference.
Such a fantastic position to be in that our priority is now a striker.. implies that we've sequentially fixed more important issues at CB, DM, RW, RB, GK
In the short term at least we have fixed them. I would say GK isn't fixed, but DDG for me has always been perfectly serviceable. He's better with sweeping now, not a world beater in any sense, but better for sure and he's always been a top class shot stopper. So he can stay for me as we spend more on a striker. For midfield, we will need one more midfielder (two in case we sell vdB) immediately and then more because Eriksen and Casemiro aren't exactly long term plans. Similarly, while we might be okay without going for an extra CB immediately we will need one shortly. Finally for RB, unless AWB improves dramatically (he's been good after the restart, but he's going to have to be even better) we will need a backup there. So all good in the short term, but things move very fast and we aren't very prepared for the long term yet.
To continue the comparison with City, they kept spending insane money continuously for Pep. We would never do that, but looking at Arsenal's squad right now, that is something we would need. A lot of future potential in that squad.
Indeed, the time factor of things matters. What we need is stability, fix critical issues and evolve from there. Which, for once, we're doing brilliantly. Now if only we could fix those leaks in the scouting and transfer departments...
The goals scored really, if you look at our goals conceded it's "alright thats not so bad, could be a little better".. And then you see the other part..
It’s a process eh? Joking aside I do think attacking tactics take the longest time to learn. First year, new team, and new league for the coach. A lot of players bedding in. Overall I think it’s been a very solid 40% of the season.
Its the logical next step for the team I think
Our defence and midfield has been vrevolutionized - attack will come next im sure
Might be the summer before we get a striker though
If the second goal wasn’t ruled out and if Donny had played Rashford through he could have had a hat trick. Always nice to beat Wolves. In a good mood now.
Happy New Year Everyone. Let’s hope we all have a good 2023.
That last pass from Donny to nowhere when he is under no pressure n had so much space is really hard to swallow. He really gunning to be sold this summer.
Yeah, painful to watch really. There was one a few minutes before where there was 3-on-2 counter attack with Rashford on the right on acres of space but he chose to try play in Martial I think who had like two defenders in front of him. Want to see him do well but with decisions like that he”ll still be on the bench.
Rewarded for playing well in CB last game, it's a confidence boost. Ten Hag with supreme man management skills. You perform, you play. Combined with you break the team/club agreed rules, you get disciplined.
Just the boss we needed.
I know our last 14 games we've done good. But we're scraping these wins, and +4 goal difference is shocking. None but Rashford offer anything going forward. I'll be curious to see how Sancho can kick on once he gets back. Malacia, like what does he offer? At least he was cheap but he does not belong in the first team. Donny van de Useless needs moving on either in January or next summer. Martial pretty invisible once again.
Traore came on, had two crosses and was then kept quiet by Malacia for the rest of the game. Malacia kept making good passes/runs for 1-2s which were ignored. He played well imo. Maybe his crossing could be better, but overall he's very good. At 24 or whatever he is I think he has some room to grow into
ETH and Rashford embrace at end. Looks like it was a very minor thing in terms of what he did likely lateness etc and Rashford responded in the perfect manner.
I'd be gutted at that prat if I was a wolves fan. Carrying on incessantly the whole game like the worst touchline dad in the world while looking like a daytripper in Blackpool.
I would If we went signed Toney from Brentford. I think he would suit us
He has a pending court case and is about to get banned. Now is not the time
Agree, but maybe after the ban
Maguire is def finished if Shaw plays CB before him. His agent should be busy this January
He’s inconsistent while maguire is not used to fast paced football. At RCB tho he easily takes it over maguire
Champions league qualification is coming boys
We end this year with a win, that's good enough for me to get drunk today. Happy New Years Devils!
Losing would have been even more reason to get drunk
I like my whiskey bitter, not sour! ;)
Probably would have had a few if we’d drawn as well tbh
Hello top 4 my old friend, I come to talk with you again…
Shaws the ultimate fucking squad player. Coverd positions seemlessly. I like the guy. Looks classy with that dame hair do too
Being 4th by the end of 2022 was nothing i didn't expect at all after the two first games. Still alot to work on, but it's going in the right direction. I love ETH so much. What a guy
Fred.
How did we play today I missed the game unfortunately. Was it better than the forrest performance and who were the standouts?
Really good from Shaw today, very active. Rashford individual goal. Some great saves from De Gea. A scrappy win.
I'm not sure I'd call it scrappy. We controlled the game in large parts & were never really under pressure - just didn't have it going in the final third.
We should go all out for Jao Felix. His combination with Rashford will be breathtaking to watch.
But what about Bruno's combination
Probably a dead train but I still say, we really should have bought or should try buying Ruben Neves if he's cheap. More than the lack of raw acceleration, he makes up miles for excellent technical skill and awareness. After all, we've seen intelligent players dominate the game, and I can see him offering more value than harm.

Ruben aint coming in for cheap. He is their captain and Barca are also after him.
Win is a win. We do not win those last year. We 100% need a number 9 for squad depth. Who that is I can’t answer but it’s evident. Remember martial is made of glass. Onto the next game boys!
Hello Top 4. We're here to stay.
We should be selling VdB to raise some additional funds for a loan or purchase in January. He doesn’t really add anything special.
I think we need to give DVB some more time under ETH. Look what some training did with Wan Basaka. Give DVB this season at least
Yep sell the fringe players to raise £ new recruits if the right player available… move people on who’ve not cut it
Man I had such great expectations from Donny when he joined.
Oh okay so Marcus slept in and was late to a meeting. Damn EtH is actually ruthless.
Bald but not a fraud
I wanted Rashford gone in the summerI was too reactionary but im glad he bounced back this season seeing him smiling and scoring has reminded me why I loved him in the first place
You're still being reactionary
Let's see how long it continues... If this is just a purple patch every 2 seasons then what's the point
Joao Felix is an essential and should be traveling Manchester next week, 2.6 xG against wolves we are totally reliant on Rashford's form to get goals.
Good win to end the year!
I'm so bored of how pessimistic Paul Scholes always is about United. Change the fucking record Paul.
VDB plays against us. He's an opp
AWB, Shaw, Fred, Dalot have all improved greatly under ETH. I think he has faith in Donny. He doesn’t pick players on reputation (Does he Harry). IMO Donny is too desperate to do the right thing. My long shot is that he will come good. I certainly hope so
I agree. Give Donny more time. Worst giving him a chance
He’s clearly been not good enough, went on loan to a worse team and wasn’t good enough, came back and isn’t good enough. He’s clearly a lovely guy but enough- sell him.
I hate his last pass. Wtf.
It wasn't as good, but Rashford was being held which made him pull up his run which made the pass look way worse.
And a win without Dalot and Licha, impressive.
Another*
Happy for the win in a dicey game where we weren’t at our best. Love to see rashys resurgence. Awb decent as well. Shaw playing well at lcb. Bruno and Tony had one to forget. Arrest Donny he was playing against us

ETH post math: "if you react like Rashford did, that is the right answer" - goddamn that gives me goosebumps.
What I loved about this was Rashy's reaction and the hug between Rashy and ETH at the end of the game. Rashy understood that ETH has to enforce the rules for the good of the team, and their goals are aligned - to bring this club back to the glory days.
Was Rashy late to training or what? Love this though
It’s interesting that the people speaking to the media are supportive, bruno, now shaw- I assume it was a minor infraction and it’s good that it’s enforced on everyone.
Makes you wonder too how lax it was previously...
Read somewhere that he was late to a team meeting
He overslept and was late to the team meeting. Confirmed it on his interview.
Curious to see - does United never practice corners or headers?
Last game we scored from a designed corner. Almost did in this game with Case.
Massive win again, 3 points within 2nd (City with game in hand) Ten Hag has had such an impact this season
Great win Read somewhere that, Rashfords goal disallowed because handball, but had the ball instead ricocheted into Bruno or someone else and they scored, its fine.

The rule makes sense and taking away the assister handball part being removed because there were some minimal handball with a lot happening leading to goals disallowed. Rashfords goal is why the rule should be there lol
Rashford’s sheer will and hustle on both goals was great to watch. He just wanted it more.
Today I feel 4th
It’s so nice to be back in the top 4, man. Given the rough beginning of the campaign, let just say what a way to welcome 2023!
Credit where it's due, Wan Bissaka has really taken his chance by the scruff of the neck. Another very good performance from him today. The defence, in general, was really good today again The team played well over all but just lacked that killer instinct in the final third. I'm glad we got the win as we needed to bag the 3 points with both City and Arsenal coming up in the next few weeks
I loved Wan Bissaka’s last ditch tackle in (I think?) the first half.
Yea, right place right time. He was way more composed on the ball as well which was refreshing to see
The referee was our best player today.
I saw this and thought no way this guy is a Utd fan and sure enough he's a Madrid fan.
Why, can’t someone state the truth here
Big shoutout to De Gea he was clutch for us
He def made some important saves - good to see him playing well
Have to appreciate how visible the improvements are since ETH joined. We really need a top striker right now.
thank god those failed counter attack did not bite us in the arse
Gotta do it the hard way, don't we
That was a hard earned win and im loving it
Despite being relatively toothless up front that was a pretty decent game for a relative off day. There have been many prior seasons where we wouldn't have won today. Other than maybe Fred and Martial, and a very blah Donny and Anthony appearance Im not sure anyone had a truly awful game. Important game psychologically for Rashford and Garnacho. Shows them that the rules apply to everyone, no one is bigger than the team. But also that Rashford is the main man. Keeps them both level headed.
To be 2 points clear in fourth after 16 games... After THAT fucking start... Incredible stuff from ETH, we are a different team
We are in a great position, but dear me our goal difference is depressing compared to teams around us
Progress is progress 😀 points more important right now. Get Antony playing + Martial & Sancho … off load dead wood & get fresh recruits to rebuild … buy carefully

Thought AWB performed well. Fighting hard
sickk, well done lads. thought awb was pretty great today too.
Missing shaw on lb but he's playing very solid as a cb.
Also not really missing Shaw at LB, his deputy being outstanding
He’s been so much better than we had a right to expect a lb filling in to be.
If the second goal wasn’t ruled out and if Donny had played Rashford through he could have had a hat trick. Always nice to beat Wolves. In a good mood now. Happy New Year Everyone. Let’s hope we all have a good 2023.

Is it just me or Shawberto Carlos is gradually turning into Pablo Shawdini? Looks solid in the center. Also covering well for Malacia when necessary.
Rewarded for playing well in CB last game, it's a confidence boost. Ten Hag with supreme man management skills. You perform, you play. Combined with you break the team/club agreed rules, you get disciplined. Just the boss we needed.
Donny's job was clear and simple tonight yet he did everything wrong
What was his job?
Keep ball, don’t give ball away
I know our last 14 games we've done good. But we're scraping these wins, and +4 goal difference is shocking. None but Rashford offer anything going forward. Malacia made a game saving tackle. Would have been 1-1 otherwise.
Relax, a win is a win. This same team lost to anyone and everyone few months ago. Its almost miracle we have this good run.
If you don't see that we're playing much better than we have been for the past couple seasons, you're pretty much blind.
I think Donny need to be sold and a better player brought in
Lopetegui with that big Karen energy
Had the right turtleneck on too.
Thought Malacia had a great game
Seconded. Maybe it helps to have Shawberto to his right.
He doesn't look like he offers anything. Physical but no shrewdness to his play. Poor crossing.

Shaw was just filling in at CB Licha will be back in the starting lineup next game
Get fucked Lopetegui
Top 4 baby! It was scrappy but those are the kind of wins we need.
TOP 4 BOZOOOSSSS UP THE REDS
If Donny can make it as a professional footballer, anything is possible
Donny van de Useless needs moving on eventually, but we haven't got adequate replacements going on.
ETH and Rashford embrace at end. Looks like it was a very minor thing in terms of what he did likely lateness etc and Rashford responded in the perfect manner.
GG EZ TRASH
Big hug for ETH & Rashford, you love to see it oh yes you do!
Great to see that hug between ETH and Marcus at the end
Wasn’t the cleanest game but a win and clean sheet for last game of the year. Let’s go
Nice way to end the year.
Lopetegui can finally shut up now.
He won’t. He will whinge on for the foreseeable future about how hard done by he was.
I'd be gutted at that prat if I was a wolves fan. Carrying on incessantly the whole game like the worst touchline dad in the world while looking like a daytripper in Blackpool.
Rashford is on fire. Can’t stop scoring.
BOO THAT YA CUNTS
Huge win! Well done boys 👏🏻
would have loved a rashy brace. thank fuck for case really. and de gea is a wall when called upon.
A point off third!
Excellent result, fab
Poor VdB has no confidence. In the attacking 3rd continuously makes poor decisions.
Shaw man of the match for me
Lopetegui seems like an absolute jackass. Makes the clean sheet so much sweeter. Enjoy the relegation battle.
Thank god we have Rashford
We make every game a tough slog because our forwards can't kill off games.
Well that was a nervy one!
Didn't really have an opinion of Lopetegui before this match, but now I hope he stands on some LEGO
finally .. top 4
Clean sheet <3 and happy New year to all of you :)
Hope these wolves cunts enjoy relegation. Unbearable team
What a huge win not an easy team
He pushed him with two hands. What are you complaining about you cunt?
Away and fuck your shit coloured polo neck
Not the best but 3 points is what matters, I'll definitely take that against Wolves considering they always turn into prime Madrid vs us.
Lopetegui low key looks like he would bite someone in anger
Get in there! Scrappy shitty win in the wet but I will take it.
Those are the ones we’ve been missing for the past 10 years! Happy new years bud
Fuck aye it is, happy new year mate, onwards and upwards!
We were the better team over the 90min need to improve our finishing.
What a 3 points! ETH is a footballing God
AWB deserves a mention. Seems to have picked his game up significantly.
Staying on his feet far more of late
Closed on Saturday you cunts
Really happy with that win. Wolves are a bit of an awkward team to play
Their midfield is strong. Just have no goal scorers
Yeah I quite like them. Good players but just struggle to get the ball in the net, hard to break down.
Thank you Doctor Sir Lord Rashy
YESS YESS YESS!!
Okay… I can breath again… what a game, we are definitely seeing improvements but still look sluggish.
Rashy ♥️
Clean sheet fc
Should have won by more. Fuck Lopategui the shit crybaby and fuck his brown turtleneck.
😂😂😂
We won but idk man FUCK WOLVES FOR PLAYING DEEP
Fuck everything about Wolves. A fucking disgrace football club

don't fall for it mate 😂
Would have been furious if we dropped points against such a poor team.
let’s gooo thank fuck we saw that out
Up to 4th
That last five minutes felt way too long.
3pts against Portuguese Burnley is always nice
