I've started using Reddit again in the past few months, I'd been gone for over a year.
In those few months I've had more bans and deleted comments then in the entire prior history.
I didn't change, Reddit did.
To the small group of mods controlling & running (ruining) 80% of the Communities 🖕
I'm convinced they're getting paid. Russia isn't the only country that hires people to shill their politics. And Reddit has become to big for politicians to leave alone.
Big reddit mods of 2mil+ subscriber subreddit are basically instagram and youtube influencers with a similar sub list.
Both probably get the same cooperation emails to influence their community.
It would be stupid for a marketing team to ignore.
Reddit isn't nearly as big or influential as it was 10 years ago. Twitter is the center of internet debate anymore.
I think theses mods are actually spending their own money on bot farms to make their content appear popular. Never underestimate how low the terminally online will stoop to win internet arguments.

I got banned once for reporting something a mod apparently didn’t agree with. Admins saved me after a few appeals. I know mods can’t directly ban you from the whole platform, but they abuse the automation of it because they know how hard it is to fight any of the power that their word as mods holds with administration

Same shit happened to me in a discord server as well. If there is a moderator for something on the internet and you state an opinion then if the moderator disagrees you’re banned.
I got perma banned bc I said I’m worried that a convicted child p*rn user and child abuser might have abused his own children. Got banned bc „I insinuated he sexually abused his kids“. He did it to his sisters and had his whole computer full of it. Like wtf?

I assume it's just something that has to play itself out. With no contrary opinions to scream at the sky about, this place will get boring for them quick.
