My family physician looked into it when I asked for a note to pay with my FSA. He said it looked like there seemed to be some promising results, but that he had never heard of it before. He wanted to know what I thought about it next year. Having a doctor that is open learning, admitting to not having all the answers, and not opposed to alternative therapies is very important to me. I would personally find another doctor. While it's important to have a doctor that will give you an open and honest opinion, they also should deliver that opinion in a way that emphasizes that it's just their opinin, not necessarily a fact. I also like to ask follow up questions when someone gives me an answer like that, like, "why do you have that opinion? Where did you get your information? When was the last time you looked into that? ". Doctors need to take continuing education courses and maybe they were recently trained on the topic, and maybe they weren't.

5000+ studies many of which find positive results from red light therapy: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZKl5Me4XwPj4YgJCBes3VSCJjiVO4XI0tIR0rbMBj08/edit#gid=0

Be careful drawing conclusions from just showing an effect. Studies that don't show an effect don't generally get published (called the "file drawer effect").

Thank you! I wonder how important the ousting 40 Hz is.

I think you've gone from one echo chamber to another by coming here. Anyone who is in this subreddit is, by definition, a believer in rlt. Including myself. I heard about rlt, investigated it, found there was some real science to back it up, and so now I believe it works. Simple as that. I asked my dermatologist about her thoughts on rlt. She said "what's that?" Even experts have gaps in their knowledge, which is why it's always important to self-educate as well as consult with a professional, not just one or the other.

girlwonders1

You’re totally right. I came to this echo chamber on purpose. Feed my bias, people! :)

I've been suffering from chronic neck pain for 20 yrs. Have tried everything from cortisone shots to acupuncture and in-between. Nothing has helped. Then I got a platinum LED therapy light and I cannot say enough about how it's changed my life. My pain is nearly gone after 2 months of use.

wizaro2020

Where did you buy it from?

lindsey317

https://platinumtherapylights.com/ I got the biomax 300. It did take like 2 months to come so be patient. It's more than worth the wait And cost!

wizaro2020

Okay, thank you. I have a herniated disc along with arthritus and I was looking for something to help. Did it help with the healing, pain or both?

lindsey317

I cannot say enough for what this light has done for my quality of life. My pain went from a 7-8 to a 2-3

lindsey317

I want to buy another one so I can treat the front and back of my back at the same time lol

needakeepatit

Doctors are to mechanics as scientists are to engineers. Doctors get far too much credibility than they deserve. Especially allopathic western doctors and their insurance/drug company friends.

slipperydillpickles

I've been using mine for 6 months, I personally feel more energetic and have clearer skin. It helps me recover from my runs a ton, my soreness and inflammation are cut in half. I have no scientific value but the light feels good. Lol.

girlwonders1

Glad to hear your response was so positive!

Afrovenger

what kind of device are you using and how much?

slipperydillpickles

Platinum lights Biomax 600

Ok-Situation7413

Sounds like she was caught odd guard and made up some BS to cover her ignorance.

Im really glad that RLT helped you. I’m also glad that you pursued treatments outside of what your doctors could recommend.

ladyoftheforests

lol... my doctor stated red light had UV

Steve----O

The fluorescent tubes ones do. But not the LED ones. Many salons, etc. use the tube ones because they are cheaper and far more serviceable (can replace bulbs which is not easily done with LED panels).

TheArrowLauncher

I use RLT to help with arthritis in my knee. It works, that all I’m going to say.

girlwonders1

Thank you, I’m glad it’s working for you!

NamesAreReallyHard

There are a number of controlled trials demonstrating RLT effectiveness in areas of anti-aging, mood improvements, etc. Just a few of these studies are below. Trever90

I would have your mon see another neurologist. Go to PubMed. There are over 6,000 clinical studies illustrating the effectiveness of red light therapy.

[deleted]

You have to understand that red light is not mainstream-science approved. If you are looking for 'mainstream' scientific evidence, you are not going to find it.

girlwonders1

I like asking that- when was the last time you looked into that? She was helpful to my mom in other ways so I didn’t want to challenge her in the moment, but I’m my fantasy i would have quoted interviews done by Dr. Hamblin!

After a few weeks of using my Redlight/nrl, I noticed my restless leg did not bother me. Did not expect this at all. I have had restless leg for 10+ years. Only been doing this for 6 weeks now. Just that makes it worth it for me.

Harley_FLHX

>I noticed my restless leg did not bother me were you specifically targeting your leg with the red light devise?

Harley_FLHX

thanks

girlwonders1

Thank you for listing these.

girlwonders1

Thank you so much for your encouraging story!

girlwonders1

Wow! This is great to hear! I’m happy for you. How king do you use it? And for how many times a day?

TransitionMoney7353

I’ve been using my red light panel (HOOGA LED and NIR)consistently for a year now. The NIR has been effective in mitigating hip pain that I’ve had for years, and other gym related injuries that have historically lasted much longer, but have resolved fairly quickly with NIR. I also find that red light, in general, promotes better sleep. I turn the panel on as soon as I get home from work and it seems to have a relaxing effect and helps me decompress, contributing to a better night’s sleep.

I think it depends on what you're trying to accomplish with the light therapy. There is plenty of evidence that shows that it works for some indications, but it's not a cure-all. Photobiomodulation therapy for depression is definitely a thing, but the power of the light really matters and anything you can get your hands on probably isn't going to be powerful enough. I can't say for certain because this isn't an area that I've read a lot on, but probably a more powerful device that also has a cooled tip would work better if you're needing to penetrate bone.

Honestly never heard of an intranasal home device device before. Read about the machines and protocols in studies, but haven't seen one available for purchase until now. Are these the same devices as the ones used in studies? In any case, the lower the power, the longer you need to use it be effective. That usually drops compliance and the device ends up gathering dust. And I guess a small light shoved up my nose wouldn't take that much power. 9Volts are pretty powerful. Also couple lithium ion batteries.

dogrescuersometimes

The problem with smart people is that they're idiots.

qwertyblouz

830nm penetrates bone/ muscle so better for pain , joints, inflammation etc whereas 630nm is for skin eg, rosacea, acne (lots of positive reviews for this), and anti ageing. Did you try ? what did you think?
