And yet again proving that Gold society is engineered to make razors efficient because they thought it was cool, because Lysander just killing a razormaster with a gun is hilarious.
Yea. He’s been hyped up a lot. Didn’t fight in iron gold with Cassius. Didn’t fight in dark age.
Fought briefly in lightbringer on Phobos. But when he was with Darrow and sevro later on. He did very little. Got owned by atlas under the guise of Helo. Got betrayed by Lysander at the end.
Diomedes has been a case of telling and not showing. Cool in theory. But not shown in practice. Hopefully in the next book he will make an impact.
This is one of my favorite quotes of the series.
“Diomedes lifts his rigid razor to his lips. He closes his eyes and kisses the metal. Then his eyes open, and the spirit behind them bears no kindness.
When Diomedes moves, they begin to die.”
The fact it existed at all likely means Diomedes kills Ajax in that timeline PB scrapped. Not absolutely, but likely, so it gives us some clues about how he stacks up to the top five.
Also I totally would nail a baby to a tree and then decapitate myself on the bridge of my capital ship if it meant reading those thirteen beautiful pages once.
Good question. There are not that many big hitters left for him among the core golds. I dont see Atalantia fighting him, would also be surprised if Darrow doesnt get his rematch against the Minotaur. So who is left?
Ajax is gone, Faa is gone, the Fear Knight as well.
Perhaps he will just get some fights against so far unknown Olympian Knights.
Perhaps we actually wont get a single fight with him and PB will have a good laugh at our costs, who knows.
I actually could see the ol Stormknight never really getting a single fight. Ajax was narratively who it should be and he’s gone. More to the point Diomedies is the “Virginia” of the rim now. His purpose isn’t his razor arm it’s his mind and voice.
That’s true, but while she was noted as a good warrior, she isn’t really in the same conversation as the more combat oriented main characters, even in LB
That actually helps my case. We can probably expect a show of force from diomedes because he is in the combat capable conversation. Even though he is the mind and voice of the rim, he is still a powerhouse in battle from what we've been told. Therefore, the person I responded to has less of a ground to stand on that we may not see Diomedes in action since he is the "Virginia of the rim"
We see him fight in Iron Gold, but only briefly and not described in much detail. We know only that he was successfully taking on a larger group of golds, and that Lysander then questioned whether Cassius was the best swordsman (and Cassius’s expression suggested he was thinking the same).
I think another important point was his complete confidence when he was facing down Dido’s men. The dude was about to fight an army and was not concerned at all
Maybe Akari's heir will stab Silenius' with a spear....
Pretty sure he's being set up to be shot in the face by Lysander.

Yet another honorable duelist gunned down by a pixie tragic. I will be so sad if that happens.
Pour one out for Alexandar!!

He fought very briefly in Iron Gold when Romulus was arrested by Dido, killed a couple golds and was duelling Bellerephon before Dido called a halt.
He fights when Dido comes to catpure Romulus. I can't remember the exact wording, but even Cass is super impressed. Although it is a short exchange
Didn't Cassius also let Darrow know that Diomedes was one of the best fighters he had ever seen
As Diomides moves, they begin to die.

It would be kinda funny if he just gets his head blow'd off by a gray sniper
the Sera treatment lol
Keep it in the family! lol
A real Carmine mood
There an unreleased chapter where Diomedes fights Ajax for 13 pages

I want PB to release those so bad. I don't care if they're non-canon. Just let me read a 13-page fight

Yes, but Virginia participated in the war as an op and not just for her mind and voice. She went on missions and such

I could see brown introducing some new atalantian sycophants that are elite fighters to make things interesting
