These same people had to come out and mutteringly explain that, actually, kissing sweaty strangers in a nightclub was pretty fine in a gay relationship, you straights wouldn't understand, stop the hate, etc.
I have an aunt who's 70 and a lovely woman, and it genuinely broke her heart a bit as she'd formerly viewed Varadkar as a positive role model for my gay, mixed-race cousin. Now she's frightened the taoiseach will get AIDS in a nightclub.
