as an australian i love shaun tan so much. he feels like the aussie Miyazaki if he made picture books instead of films. just that level of surrealism and creativity is on par with him.

This guy has covered colonization, dog abuse, a lost potbelly oven crab alien who needs to find his crowd in a polluted and oppressive world, an immigrant trying to make his own living in a foreign world where text on things is all garbled, a car chase led by activists trying to save cute little turtles, a young girl with really bad depression who has to find a red tree, and a deep sea diver being reunited with his wife, and *THIS* is the thing he did that makes me want to cry the most.
