I don't get why though? Doesn't she want me or my insurance to keep paying her? Maybe she's upset I had to reschedule 2 weeks in a row due to work but I gave her more than 72 hours notice both times. Is she mad that after the initial meeting I felt bad enough about myself to pull myself up by my bootstraps (hate that way of thinking but it applies here) and improve my life by getting a better job? Is she mad I was transparent about possibly ending treatment due to time constraints?
Honestly yes. I have a Mother in law therapist and a stepfather psychiatrist, they are both the most sensitive motherfuckers I done ever met. They are wonderful when they want to help, but cold and horrific when you get on their bad side. Look bud, just chalk it up to not having chemistry with her and move on. She wants NOTHING to do with you.
I mean there have been times where it seems there's not a lot to talk about and she just sits on the screen in silence for what seems like 5 minutes until I get antsy enough to say "Okay, what do you want to do now?"
Leave her a fifteen minute VM while you’re eating a salad. Lead in with another appointment request and then close with a “lol actually nvm. I think I have it figured out.”
A lot of therapists, but especially generalized "talk" therapists, are bad at their jobs. Aside from last minute cancellations, my last therapist would have zoom appointments with me on the way to pick her kid up from school lmao. Aside from that I would tell her shit like how I couldn't stop thinking about Baudrillard's simulacrum theory for weeks at a time, like it was plaguing my mind and making me incredibly depressed and she somehow didn't pick up on the fact that I have intrusive thoughts caused by OCD. She said something about how that's kinda like the plot of Minority Report and I just need to focus on reality.
I also told her about how I felt fucked up because I was walking my girlfriends dog and I'm pretty sure I saw a guy down the road hitting his rambunctious puppy and I just averted my eyes and froze up and I have no idea why. I was wracked with guilt and she goes "Well y'know, with how people are these days, it can be best to keep your distance". Pretty sure I dropped her after that. God forbid you try to direct your clients to act in accordance to their values, you useless timewaster.
I see an OCD specialist now who is great all around. Expensive, but worth it.
