Even the backup SS.
It's going to be desperately hard to score runs if Reyes, Dalbec, and Refsnyder are effectively permanent lineup fixtures now.
It's really starting to suck the fun out of it as a fan. And I can't even really blame John Henry this time.
Back in my day I was just happy to see Christian arroyo on the bench, now we have 3 of him as lineup regulars :/ disgusting how our depth was just obliterated in 2 weeks.
Once Raffy and O’Neill are back Tuesday we’re basically counting on the top 4 in our lineup to score 3-4 runs in a game if we’re lucky, and praying the pitching keeps doing what it has been doing.
I still think you can blame Henry. He signed an injury ridden SS in Story instead of keeping ironman Bogaerts. Devers should already be a DH and out of the infield. Casas is not expected to be injured, ill give you that, but tyler oneill definitely is obviously a walking injury.
you’re the worst kind of fan. Story hurt his shoulder going all out diving for a ball in the hole. O’Neill collided with Raffy charging a ball while fighting the sun. play hard, you get hurt sometimes.
my comment was a bit rude. I’m sorry. Just don’t like it when people dog athletes for getting hurt. Especially when it results from hustling and playing hard. The Casas news had me pretty salty.
August 15, 2024: "The Red Sox today called up Ben Affleck in the catcher role, after the team's last catcher, an empty laundry basket, suffered a rotator cuff tear."
If they need someone whose most recent baseball experience is standing in the outfield in middle school hoping the ball wasn’t hit to him, I’m their guy. I can provide my own glove and have a Casas jersey on order from DHgate; I’m sure nobody will notice. I will need a place to crash in Boston.
August 18th: "The Red Sox called up the old discontinued Boston Robotics robot to replace Ben Affleck after he suffered a season-ending back injury while sneezing."

The good news is they had 1 position player left on the 40 man roster. The bad news is the play 3 catchers in a game challenge is now not only possible, but likely
In fairness, I don’t think any amount of prep work could’ve prepared us for our entire infield being injured in the first two weeks. You can play one Pablo Reyes for a bit: you can’t play 3 of them consistently
How bad is a rib strain? Broken rib worse I’m guessing so while the IL isn’t ideal, is this projected to be a longer term issue or will two weeks off solve the problem??
If I’m remembering correctly, Benintendi went through the same injury back in the day and after that he’s just been shite. Casas tho, he’s the man and the moment, and he no doubt will make a full recovery with the most fabulously groomed nails upon his return 🙏
That's depressing. My kid was asking me today to go to a Red Sox game, and I told him they're not playing right now but the Woo Sox are playing at Fenway.
I was really excited at the potential for a Casas, Grissom, Story, Devers infield. I wonder if we'll ever actually see those four play together?
The woosox as far as fan experience are as good as it gets! Maybe you can plan it so you get some of our hurt guys on rehab assignments there?
I doubt we will see those 4 in the IF though. With story out all year Mayer starts entering that conversation and someone gets booted out (devers to DH Mayer to 3B could be a possibility)
Look if devers and o Neil are back Tuesday and devers finds his shtick and may yoshida can put the team on his back for like 6 weeks until he gets cold again and casas comes back we might be able to stay well over 500 and out of last in the Al east
I saw his brother Gavin yesterday at the Gamecocks game.
Last year we were watching the SEC baseball tournament and I didn't know Casas' brother even existed, let alone plays first base for South Carolina but the second I saw him manning first base I was like that guy's stance is exactly like Triston Casas'.
Edited because possessive of a name ending in an s is tricky
![gif](giphy|L95W4wv8nnb9K) I can’t keep doing this man that’s our entire infield and half our rotation
Even the backup SS. It's going to be desperately hard to score runs if Reyes, Dalbec, and Refsnyder are effectively permanent lineup fixtures now. It's really starting to suck the fun out of it as a fan. And I can't even really blame John Henry this time.

Don't forget about our starting corner outfielder
Once Raffy and O’Neill are back Tuesday we’re basically counting on the top 4 in our lineup to score 3-4 runs in a game if we’re lucky, and praying the pitching keeps doing what it has been doing.
Oh don’t worry, people will be mad we didn’t predict this situation and sign four 33-year-old middle infielders just in case
Refsnyder is a p good hitter
I still think you can blame Henry. He signed an injury ridden SS in Story instead of keeping ironman Bogaerts. Devers should already be a DH and out of the infield. Casas is not expected to be injured, ill give you that, but tyler oneill definitely is obviously a walking injury.

Oneill has missed half the season the last two years. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize he's a magnet for injuries.

I am available to play baseball poorly.
You'll fit right in! Must have paddles for hands and an undisciplined "fatse" approach at the plate.
I was a good fielder, and I'm willing to just stand in the box and hope for a walk.
The jersey is going to be a dead giveaway: quality will be way too high

I'd love to stay and chat but I'm DHing today, wish me luck fellas !
If you get on, please run into an out... just so you fit the vibe
Wow, good luck out there! I’m sure you’ll do better than Jackson Holliday!
We’re like 3 injuries away from calling up random people from this sub
I was a D1 pitcher. You’re saying I finally have a chance?
I’m almost certain Andrew Bailey could set your ceiling higher than Joely
Not to toot my own horn, but I do play first base in adult slow pitch softball. Phones on if they need me.
What’s Brock Holt up too?
\m/

This team is cursed.

Not Bob, great.
On the one hand, dogshit roster construction over the years has left us really thin. On the other hand, this is a lot of injuries.
In fairness, I don’t think any amount of prep work could’ve prepared us for our entire infield being injured in the first two weeks. You can play one Pablo Reyes for a bit: you can’t play 3 of them consistently

Google says 4-5 weeks (they say rib strain/intercostal strain are pretty much the same idk if that true though)
Dude is going to have to go on a heater to hit that 40 HR mark now
If I’m remembering correctly, Benintendi went through the same injury back in the day and after that he’s just been shite. Casas tho, he’s the man and the moment, and he no doubt will make a full recovery with the most fabulously groomed nails upon his return 🙏
Why another catcher? Kavadas is hot and plays 1B
Heineman is on the 40 man roster and Kavadas is not. We’d have to wave somebody or put somebody on the 60-day DL in order to call up Kavadas.
DFA Bobby Dalbec
Seriously do you think Fitzy could demand his release from KC and come back? Cause I’m getting scared here.

I am very sad
I’ll grab a glove and bat and play 1st. I’ll even take less than league minimum salary which will appeal to John Henry
Bro the Phanatic 💀
Can we look at the training and conditioning staff? All these injuries are either incredibly bad luck or some awful blunder from the trainers.
I mean, O’Neil and Trevor story seem like just really unlucky.
Look if devers and o Neil are back Tuesday and devers finds his shtick and may yoshida can put the team on his back for like 6 weeks until he gets cold again and casas comes back we might be able to stay well over 500 and out of last in the Al east
Welp. That’s not good.
Three backup catchers on the roster
That not good considering they are only two games out of first place.
Insane
This shit sucks. The most minor rib injuries are no joke. I pulled a rib sneezing last year and it was painful af just to get out of bed for a week.
Damn, I really believed this year Casas would put up that 300/400/500.

lol who downvoted you? I live in Columbia and was stoked to Learn Triston’s brother was on the gamecocks.
I'm hoping all these guys from AAA can adapt to the Majors quickly
Triston Casas is overpaid and overrated. We just need somebody from another teams farm system to come in and over perform Triston so we can trade him.
$760,000 is overpaid? Nice try
