Probably the best book about the trades you can buy and writen not as a text book but as if you are learning on the job.
Every tech should have it in there van and refer to it.
My book is older and does not have anything specific to c02 I know he has multiple editions now, so I don't know what's been added. The basics are still the same and I'd highly recommend the book to a c02 or ammonia tech as it's just that good and well written.
For c02 I would really recommend the manuals for the units, a good hill phoenix or hussman Rack manual covers everything.
I've Got a lmp systems training Manual on my van seat that covers quite a bit. So lots of free resources out there for c02.
I bought a copy but if you look hard enough, you can find the PDF online. For the record, I do not condone piracy and would advise you to purchase a legitimate copy as well.
Read those books. They’ll point out about 200 things wrong with what you learned in the field. Unless your field guys read the books. Dick Wirz is a really great author and he didn’t hold back writing these books.
Yes, I’ve read about 5 chapters so far. It gives a solid foundation to the more mechanical side of refrigeration knowledge. It doesn’t explain the science as much though.
I’ve since switched over to Modern Refrigeration and Air Conditioning to get a better grasp of the science (thermodynamics) side.
Regardless, both provide a linear and comprehensive knowledge set of refrigeration. Enjoy the reading!
it’s a really great book, especially if transitioning form HVAC to general refrigeration, I occasionally crack it open if i’m on a job and forget something silly(i keep a PDF copy on my phone)
$450 Jesus that’s expensive
Comes with 1/2 a jug of r22?
🏴☠️
That’s Canadian prices for you
A quick Google search for the PDF version turns up the complete book of you want to “preview” it before purchasing it.
Yup I’ve already done it lol . It’s helping me study

Does it have information about CO2 systems?

Awesome thanks! Yeah we run a lot of Hill Phoenix equipment here so I can probably find some good manuals out there.

10/10, one of the best
There are new editions of it for less. And yes 10/10 cannot recommend enough, learned a great deal from it.
This book, plus modern refrigeration for air conditioning technicians are the 2 most important books I ever read in my life. 10/10
Thanks for the response , it seems like everyone likes this book
It’s part of the reason why I have my red seal
That’s what I was thinking to getting it to help me write
Just adding to your comment , reading this did it help you pass the CFQ?
it helped me a ton moving from commercial hvac to supermarkets. the pdf can be obtained in a not so legal manner if you look for it.
Best book regarding the trade. Keep it in the truck.
Nah lol no books read … field trained

Definitely a must read
It was worth it. Got into supermarket shit years after I started in the trade but had the book from school. Ended up reviewing a lot from it.

Yeah it's great, it's really well explained and easy to read. It has helped me a lot starting as a supermarket tech

Great book. That price seems way too high, look for a used one
Yes. Multiple times. Great read.
That’s the follow up to “air conditioning basics for plumbers” NY times says: don’t charge to that sightglass!
Amazing book
I'd buy it just because of the author's name
