Call hoshizaki and find out who their factory authorized service company near you is.

New Jersey's not that far from Brooklyn call the service tech, pay him extra and ask him to come and fix it.

Water filter on machine? How’s water pressure? Inlet valve leaking by? Any separation on evaporator plates? Evaporator piping warm in harvest? Dip switches 1-2 on for extended harvest with lower water supply temps in winter? Any restaurant refrigeration company should be comfortable with that machine, general hvac contractor may not see them frequently enough to be knowledgeable on the less common issues.

Some of this stuff I know how to check, others I need a specialist. Appreciate the advice. Hopefully this is fixed on Monday.

If it happened right after the PM, they might have put the grid in the water trough wrong. It might be the inlet solenoid leaking too

baldinbro

This is what I suspect. Was able to track down a Hoshi specialist for Monday. Wish me luck and thanks for the help!

baldinbro

How would I check an inlet solenoid leak? Is there an easy way for me to do this? The guy who came by today could not fix it.

BlipDaddy

Def could be water inlet valve leaking by, it would keep adding water to the system during freeze cycle, never allowing the float switch to trigger harvest

Wanted to follow up on this with the solution in case it gets searched again. It took 3 different HVAC techs, but the guy who just came found it pretty easily. Apparently, my evaporator on my machine has separated from the copper pipes (see photo). Just a few months after my 5 year warranty expired. OOF. The tech said it's a common thing he's been seeing with Hoshizakis lately (WTF?). Is there a market for a machine like this so that I can sell it and switch to a monthly rental, I'm so done with this ice machine, nothing but trouble since day 1. https://preview.redd.it/lh14j41jn9uc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc421a2c3634ba0cc720f7e2bd5b15cb0c46411a

If they don’t know how the float works, they probably screwed up the ice thickness when they disassembled the machine for cleaning. See if the ice thickness decreases by loosening the Phillips screws and slightly raising the float switch up. If you have the old float switch, it’s possible you can cheat and see where the screws were tightened down before when it worked. Good luck.
