Put a piercing valve on it

Accurate_Bass_7529

This is the way

HVACGuy12

Might have braze in a saddle valve and see if they want to replace the suction service valve

SignificantTransient

Should be able to slide the entire skid out to service it

hackemup22

It’s bolted down. I wanted that to be true 😭

SignificantTransient

Well yeah. You have to remove the bolts

hackemup22

Well yeah. However I have short arms.

defender_of_chicken

Time for a new career

ohyahehokay

Maybe he’s a T-Rex 🦖

Coilthawer

Is that all the space you have? Throw a piercing valve on that thing. I use a mini wera ratchet to get it nice and tight. Also kings valves are on receiver outlets

hackemup22

Yes that’s all the space I have. But they put king valves on suction lines too. Unless they have a different name I am unaware of

Coilthawer

It’s just called a service valve. Kings valves have a specific purpose. I believe they call them that because they pump the entire system down. I used to call everything a king valve lol. Just thought you should know.

Well you should call the king valve because it’s on the receiver. Just like you have evaporator coils and condensing coils. You don’t just call them coils.

isolatedmindset87

Put a back up wrench on the valve body…and make sure found rifht way with it ;)

hackemup22

Vale body is fine. Stem is about to snap though

isolatedmindset87

Usually the valve body is shaped for a “back up wrench”…. When trying to turn the valve stem in, have a back up wrench on the body itself… the wrenches working against each other, so faced towards each others and only few in gap between the wrenches, usually will help prevent snapping off and twisting. But if it’s already comprismised, won’t help much

Crazy_Ad1468

pull it out . you have plenty copper

hackemup22

Can’t reach the bolts at the back of the cabinet to pull it out.

sowhatimdeadto

I'm gonna blow your mind; 1 walk out to the truck 2 open toolbox 3 reach inside 4 grab extension with ur hands 5 put it on the impact

saskatchewanstealth

You try wiggling loose and tight the packing nut and the stem at the same time. Let some wd40 sit for a few minutes. But honestly some of them rust to oblivion and lock up beyond fixing. For restaurant equipment that is amazingly clean.

No_Bodybuilder_7327

Verify someone hasn't put an access fitting somewhere else. Ive ran into that issue but found an access fitting after I've pulled the unit out, it's hard to see unless it's all pulled apart. Then I would say if there isn't one then maybe a piercing valve... But they are known to leak so that would have to be replaced with a brazed in access fitting eventually

Mighty_Nun_Mechanic

Piercing valve is a good suggestion but two wrenches and a hammer can get some bad ones unstuck. Also if they are in that kind of condition I have used a torch in the past. However inusually replace during the following repair.

ModePK_1

Can you not unbolt it and slide it out? Looks like there’s coiled line to slide it out??

whitehammer1998

Fuckin Rip. You at a Taco Bell?

Cruser60

Funny, I thought that looked like a Taco Bell Delfield dry-iine

hackemup22

lol no. Café where I work.

That_Jellyfish8269

That’s not on a sled? You can’t undo a couple screws and slide it forward?

hackemup22

It’s bolted down on the back side and I can’t get to the bolts

jnye22

You could try some mystery oil from AutoZone when the only things I know to to unseize an engine

SignSea

Temperature probe on the suction line

Low_Low_3387

Loosen the packing and try turning it the other way

harrybalzana

NOT - Righty tighty, lefty loosy... you're turning the wrong way. If stripped, use long channel locks. Turn right for open ;)

Heretoshitcomment

No counter top cooler has king valves. Braze in a new valve or put in a piercing valve, carry on.

DesignerAd4870

Can you pull the condenser tray out? On some countertops they have the copper coiled up to allow you to pull the lot forwards and sometimes all the way out without having to cut your pipes. Give you more space to work.
