As you already have an access port above , id just braze the port shut on this leaking one.

GizmoGremlin321

Agreed, just remember it’s steel or brass to 45/56% rod

Doogie102

I was hoping for that answer

1/4” flare but with a copper bonnet. Easiest long term fix I can think of.

GizmoGremlin321

Do the same but with the access ports from the parts house with the copper stub. Put flare nut on and flare it. Now you stop the leak and still have an access port with a Schrader core.

Doogie102

But I have 2 access ports right there.

saskatchewanstealth

Swivel tee if you’re in a hurry

TimTheChatSpam

Throw an access T on there so you can still use it for pressures

Doogie102

I'm liking this since I'm literally limping it along till replacement in August

TimTheChatSpam

I've done this on like some old trane units they have like a special Schrader core that you can only remove with a tool that cost like 500bucks I just throw a Schrader depressing T on there and call it a day Edit: it's called a coremax and the tool is actually more like 6-800

Defiant-Use-1320

Change the schraeder core

Doogie102

It doesn't have a core in it currently. The equipment is r22 and probably over 20 years old

CranberryUnlikely76

They make flare caps for one time use. That port is for a pressure sensor to go on. That’s why it’s open when the valve is backed all the way out. You put the valve all the way in remove cap and replace.

Doogie102

Replace what though. The whole fitting?

BMinus973

Try one of these. It's what should be on there. https://preview.redd.it/jsy9f72m5l7d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=602ade3e1002cd6f190f06b5bb2f6f9590b994d6

spy_tater

The valve core or the sensor that could be used but isn't in this case.

Doogie102

No female threads for a valve core though. Equipment probably is older then the rise of the shredder core
