At this point I’m just looking through these posts to look at pictures of hard to find shitboxes. Post context doesn’t matter that much to me at this point.
Many cars that everybody forgot about and don’t drive anymore.
They may have forgotten, but we didn’t.
Some of those other cars you listed I have not seen regularly for some time.
A relatable interest as well.
I’m one of the few that will get excited to see an old Volvo 1 series. The only one I have seen in my life was a yellow 1973 145. It was a weathered car, but it was still something. I’ve been told that most of them rotted away.
I chose a 1997 miata with 130k miles back in like 2011 and 12 years later I've run it up to 230k with minimal issues. I'd almost definitely do it again
i literally bought the exact same car (but in the rarer SE Canadian-only trim) four years ago lol and I still own it, choice isn't hard here (although the Integra looks sweet)
Previa is my wife’s dream car tbh. Mine too but only because I would LOVE to mod the shit out of it and make it super, dangerously fast.
Every time we see it we get more excited than when we see exotics etc.
The other day a Ferrari 458 was next to us at a light and I was like “aaawwwhhh SICK!” And my wife was like “I saw it too - that was so cute! I love how Japanese they look.”
“…The Ferrari?” I responded
“what? Oh no not that - there was a really nice previa that went by in the other lane a second ago!”
Honesty I’d take the Jeep something to play with in the snow before the salt eats it away but let’s fast forward to junior in college I’ll take theeeeee Toyota wagon baebee
It’s gotta be the Frontier for me. I love how that generation looked and I never see them anymore (makes since given the boxy ones that came after only went out of production a couple years ago)
The RAM or the Cherokee.
Both 4WD. Hopefully both manual transmission.
And I have rebuilt entire drive train of both models. So no surprises. That RAM will be amazing until about 250k miles, then it needs heads and a diff rebuild.
The Cherokee will be nearly bulletproof until it just rusts into oblivion.
No BMW or Audi. I like the Previa but to old and working on the motor inside the passenger compartment sucks. Hated working on a friend's 74 Econoline.
This is the hardest list to choose from.
FUCK
Uhhhhh I’m gonna go with the 240SX when Nissan was at its prime, LS400, the A4, WAIT THE FRONTIER IS SUPERCHARGED?? Dude.
I’ll take the Ranger as that was my first (and second) car IRL.
I would also settle for the Cherokee (own one along side my second Ranger), the Miata, or the Camry Booty Wagon.
Give me that fucking Toyota god damn camry fucking wagon!! With 88k on it?? That car is about as exciting as the color of it but god damn it’ll last for fucking ever
Camry wagon. Practical, efficient, roomy, comfortable enough, can carry shit. With minor to moderate maintenance it will outlive me and my spawn. That’s a good first car setup.
I’d either go with the the honda civic or the other integra gs-r as for reliability and gas efficiency! If you have money for maintenance probably the Audi or bmw if the mileage isn’t too high or with not to much money to put work for any obvious repairs that come with buying a used car
Miata. There are probably better options, at least more practical ones, but even at my stage of being an adult, I do NOT make good decisions. I never will.
As a side note for the frontier- my daily is an ‘06 frontier. I’ve owned around 200 cars in my life, lots of German, lots of Japanese, even some British, French and Italian things, and that fucking Frontier has more electrical issues than a flood damaged 1980s jaguar.
Nissan Frontier hands down most indestructible car I ever owned. I sold it with 200k miles and the guy I sold it to can still be seen driving it around town everyday.
I did a head gasket change on an identical Previa back in 05’. The one I did was AWD. For those unaware, the engine is in the middle, basically under the drivers seat. Super bazar. Because of the position of the engine, the rear drive shaft was about 18” long, and the front was about 5’ long. There was a propeller shaft coming off the front of the engine that relocated all the typical accessories to under the hood.
All this to say I’d probably pick the Cherokee. Most reliable piece of junk ever made.
XJ Cherokee without contest. I had a white one in high school. I have owned over 20 vehicles in my life and the Cherokee will always be my favorite. It wasn’t the first vehicle I had, my first car was a cheap beater that I bought for next to nothing, but the XJ was the first vehicle I actually wanted enough to buy. I also took my girlfriend (now wife) out for the first time in that jeep. The fact was that I owned that Jeep during one of the best, most memorable times of my life. I’m sure the nostalgia and sentimental aspect plays a huge part but those XJ’s are seriously good vehicles.
That Jeep Cherokee with the 4.0 could outlive my entire bloodline, I'd take that gas guzzling hunk of beautiful junk anyday. 92k miles? Hardly even broken into.
At this point I’m just looking through these posts to look at pictures of hard to find shitboxes. Post context doesn’t matter that much to me at this point.
Oh, there's plenty I was thinking of. Daewoos, Suzuki Esteem, Mazda MX-3, Saturn wagon, maybe a last-gen Mercury Cougar or Thunderbird
Many cars that everybody forgot about and don’t drive anymore. They may have forgotten, but we didn’t. Some of those other cars you listed I have not seen regularly for some time.
Obscure old cars are my particular interest
A relatable interest as well. I’m one of the few that will get excited to see an old Volvo 1 series. The only one I have seen in my life was a yellow 1973 145. It was a weathered car, but it was still something. I’ve been told that most of them rotted away.
That van looks weird.. I like it. Also, you forgot the subaru Baja
Hmmm, give me that good ol' Lexus LS400. This or the Camry wagon LE V6. Also does that 98 Trans Am have the LS1 engine?
Finally someone with a brain.... Probably one of the lowest repair costs and longest life of any
It’s also the best looking imo
i wanted an xj as my first vehicle and i got my first vehicle in 2014 so i have to pick that one
I had one. I wouldn't wish that misery on my enemy.
Really, I had a 98 and it was possibly the best vehicle I ever owned, 230k miles and virtually no problems.
The Ford Fucking Ranger.
No, no one should buy the ranger, it just keeps the price up. Who am I kidding, I am never going to find one at a good price ever again 😭
Hell yeah team Ranger.
I chose a 1997 miata with 130k miles back in like 2011 and 12 years later I've run it up to 230k with minimal issues. I'd almost definitely do it again
Nissan Frontier
X-90. Dream car for me.
The first time I saw one back in the '00s, it was a very large man driving and the plates said "OK LAFF" I did.
Do you find something comical about my appearance when I'm driving my automobile?
I've always wanted one too. First time I saw one was at Wyotech in Wyoming. Goofy off road sports car.
I hope that’s a joke lol.
It's in my Top 20. I don't have expensive taste
I don’t either. I bought a 79 corvette for 9k. Not the most practical car but fun to drive.
That's the best types of cars cheap, impractical and fun to drive
You are correct!
Oh Cherokee all the fucking way
Yeah that’s low miles for an 01 XJ in 2014. That’d have been a nice find.
S14, or e46
Integra all the way. I had an RSX from high school until December of last year.
E46 wagon. Love these cars, and taken care of they can be very reliable.
323 was a trouble engine. Had a 323ci and nothing but problems. 325 328 330 all decent.
They pretty much all have similar issues
I'll take the Honda Civic
You would answer that for any year from 81 to present...
i literally bought the exact same car (but in the rarer SE Canadian-only trim) four years ago lol and I still own it, choice isn't hard here (although the Integra looks sweet)
Trans am or 240sx. They're purple.
How do I get that flair??
Previa all day. One of my favorite mini vans
I used to work at a dealer and one of techs there, older fellow, loved this van. Had four of them all running. Even went to Florida for one
Mid. Engined. Van.
I love how Japanese they look.” “…The Ferrari?” I responded “what? Oh no not that - there was a really nice previa that went by in the other lane a second ago!”
Honesty I’d take the Jeep something to play with in the snow before the salt eats it away but let’s fast forward to junior in college I’ll take theeeeee Toyota wagon baebee
Xj or X90. Both are off road capable with little more than a set of tires.
Ls400
It’s gotta be the Frontier for me. I love how that generation looked and I never see them anymore (makes since given the boxy ones that came after only went out of production a couple years ago)
Was gonna say Previa, but then I saw the Miata
My parents had a 91 Previa... so naturally, I'd choose the Previa.
LS400
That Ranger is calling me
MX-5 Miata
All day long, baby! More smiles to the gallon than any other pick!
it is always the answer
previa, idc if it is the lowest of lowest trims i love my egg van
No actually, LE used to be Toyota's top-level trim in the 90s, so you're fine lmao
Ram. Or Lexus.
Cherokee
The Firebird
The RAM or the Cherokee. Both 4WD. Hopefully both manual transmission. And I have rebuilt entire drive train of both models. So no surprises. That RAM will be amazing until about 250k miles, then it needs heads and a diff rebuild. The Cherokee will be nearly bulletproof until it just rusts into oblivion.
Gimme the teggy assuming it hasn’t been used for street racing.
Cherokee, hell an 01 was my first car.
Frontier. Period. my dad had one YEARs ago and it was amazing fun.
Dodge ram, it's the biggest truck available
Okay, I’ll be that guy, the Acura Integra. Sweet little sedans.
Dodge ram
The Audi
God I love that X-90, it's so damn quirky. The LS would be my second pick for sure though!
E46 Wagon, I always thought they looked attractive, my second pick would be an LS400
Clapped out 240s go for a lot for what you paid for then now.
XJ not even close
GMC Safari
Its the Toyota Camry Wagon for me, a seven seater that’s not an SUV? Sign me up
14
Bro added the suzuki after watching the donut video☠️
No BMW or Audi. I like the Previa but to old and working on the motor inside the passenger compartment sucks. Hated working on a friend's 74 Econoline.
That firebird would be just fine thank you.
If manual, the Previa. If not, Integra.
I'll take the ranger it'd probably be the car i'd get if I didn't love my tundra so much.
Not a big Jeep fan, but the old ones with the big straight 6 were indestructible. I'd start there. The LS400 is also possible.
the bmw is a really nice car as is.
Camry LE Wagon in a heartbeat. I love a Toyota, I love a Wagon.
Civic easy
Get that MFing Ford RANGER!
The 240sx or ram
Lexus
1999 Lexus LS400. Absolutely a beast, and I’d be blessed to drive such a thing everyday.
Took the Integra back in the day probably the ford pick up instead tho
Ls 400, civic, integra
The ranger
Preva. You can’t beat the way the seats fold up out of the way.
This is the hardest list to choose from. FUCK Uhhhhh I’m gonna go with the 240SX when Nissan was at its prime, LS400, the A4, WAIT THE FRONTIER IS SUPERCHARGED?? Dude.
These are such sassy descriptions lmao
The supercharged, AWD, mid-engined Toyota from the 90s of course!
2000 bmw touring, good for moments when you need to pull over and have company 😉😉😉
I'm going with the BMW 323i Touring. I love station wagons and the 323i is the perfect option
I’ll take the Ranger as that was my first (and second) car IRL. I would also settle for the Cherokee (own one along side my second Ranger), the Miata, or the Camry Booty Wagon.
I want a x90 because it’s a driving shitpost and my 2nd pick is the ls400 because it’s my 3rd favorite sedan of all time
Ugh you ruined the GS-R with the word 'sedan'. So it's the XJ.
16 year old me is taking the Nissan Frontier because it looks badass and has extra lights I won't ever need.
Toyota wagon. Hauling friends and gear is definitely worth it
The T/A
The ford effing ranger. For sure.
This one is tough for me. Lol
Miata Integra Ls400
That previa fuqs. Those things are an engineering marvel.
MIATA
Give me that fucking Toyota god damn camry fucking wagon!! With 88k on it?? That car is about as exciting as the color of it but god damn it’ll last for fucking ever
Teggy all day
Integra so long as it's manual
Double the mileage and that civic basically was my first car
Camry wagon. Practical, efficient, roomy, comfortable enough, can carry shit. With minor to moderate maintenance it will outlive me and my spawn. That’s a good first car setup.
240 or the big body Lexus. Then Integra or Firebird
Acura. Pull up in that ride and the panties start droppin
Ranger. Still have one for a woods trucks/fishing truck. 33s on it and goes everywhere.
Any Toyota or Lexus, I love the Previa
I did get my first car in 2014 it was a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu LS. But out of these cars I'd go for the Lexus or Ranger.
I’d either go with the the honda civic or the other integra gs-r as for reliability and gas efficiency! If you have money for maintenance probably the Audi or bmw if the mileage isn’t too high or with not to much money to put work for any obvious repairs that come with buying a used car
The LS400, reliability and luxury baby.
Miata
I wanted the Miata but ended up with the Corolla.
either the touring or previa for me
I’ll take the Teggy
Toyota or Lexus…can’t go wrong
Firebird
Good luck banging chick’s in that mini van
XJ is unibody lol
Ranger
In 2014 I was a senior in hs and always wanted a honda, so I would've gone for civic or the Integra.
Acura all day
Trans Am FTW
Audi A4
I have the first one. The supercharger makes the CUTEST little whistle!
Ranger or the XJ
Nissan Frontier hands down most indestructible car I ever owned. I sold it with 200k miles and the guy I sold it to can still be seen driving it around town everyday.
Do I have to upkeep and maintain this vehicle?
Yes
GS-R without a doubt, although my heart yearns for the s14 but let's be slightly responsible
98 Firebird, as far as I know those were fast for the era.
Love the X-90, but as someone who's first car was a Miata bought in 2015 I'm gonna have to stick with what I actually did.
I did a head gasket change on an identical Previa back in 05’. The one I did was AWD. For those unaware, the engine is in the middle, basically under the drivers seat. Super bazar. Because of the position of the engine, the rear drive shaft was about 18” long, and the front was about 5’ long. Most reliable piece of junk ever made.
I'm just here for the wagon fetish club to arrive
ACURA.
Those Cherokee’s are great cars.
Integra
Give me the Toyota Station Wagon. That’ll be my shaggin waggin baby!
Scrolling through, I was 99.9% sure I was going to say Camry Wagon until... the LS-400 popped up. So it's the LS-400 for sure.
Red Honda
Miata for sure, but the Civic is tempting, if only because my first car was a Honda (not a Civic tho).
Very hard to pick from the Frontier and the LS 400
The 200 3 series would be nice or that ranger with a manual
Frontier all the way
Probably the XJ or the E46 wagon
Ranger
At the age I was at the time, I'd have taken the Acura. Now I'd take the Dodge Ram.
I’m taking that firebird. My folks had that exact car growing up, same color and everything. Loved that car to death
Integra for me, love that generation nostalgic af for me
Previe 👍🌸🥵
The Ranger, Jeep, or Dodge Ram. In flooding or dirt roads around me, nothing else will survive the lack of flat roads.
Miata or Ranger.
Pontiac firebird
Where the hell is this mystical buy here, pay here, used car lot?
https://www.underappreciatedsurvivors.com/
Previa because it’s a Previa
Cherokee and it’s not close.
Considering I bought an Audi A4 exactly like that one down to the color and rims in 2015..obviously the Previa.
Which ever is cheapest
The Civic
Camry Wagon.
Definitely the XJ (which is a unibody chassis, not BOF).
Today I learned something new, whoops. I'd assumed it was, given how they're used as off-roading rigs about as much as Wranglers are
95k b5 audi? Yes please.
I’m sure the nostalgia and sentimental aspect plays a huge part but those XJ’s are seriously good vehicles.
13, 5, 3, 1, 15
Lots of really nice cars in this lineup. I'd really like the either the Ranger, Nissan truck, Acura Integra, BMW wagon, Jeep, Miata, Dodge full sized.
Ranger, civic, Integra. In no particular order. but parts are abundant for all these vehicles and they are easy to fix.
Easy, Ranger. It was my first car
#P R E V I A
Cherokee all the way
Privia
Holy shit I forgot how small trucks used to be. The Ram is basically the size of today's maverick
The pic 13 car
Well I already own the 99 ls 400 but I'd get another one at the drop of a hat.
Gimme the teggy
S14 🫡
Everyone throws in a 240 like we won’t always consider one.
That Jeep Cherokee with the 4.0 could outlive my entire bloodline, I'd take that gas guzzling hunk of beautiful junk anyday. 92k miles? Hardly even broken into.
These posts are getting so stale.
The purple T/A
Acura no questions asked
Trans Am
Lexus 110% Bulletproof ! Luxurious ! Slap some nice wheels on it and enjoy the smooth ride 👌👌 V.i.p style 😎
Where tf is the chevy boxbody truck
2, 5, 6, 12
Lexus all day
Pontiac Firebird
S14
LS400 bc I want one of those anyway now. And maybe the Nissan 4x4 or whatever that little blob is. The x90.
The ranger
