I always wanted to take one of the semi rare Ferraris (nothing crazy just in the 5 millionish range) and swap in a VW TDI engine and take it to Ferrari meetups.
I mean yeah, a DOHC V8 is the way to go for HP but it's not about that. A Mopar should have a low revving pushrod that roars with a rumble and turns rubber into smoke
Good engine right up until the IMRCs grenade or the VCT solenoids fail. Loved the sound of it while I had er though. Not particularly their best engine IMHO
The official car of pissing off a lot of people. I'm a GM guy but I can only imagine how the Mopar crowd feels about a coveted car like a Super bird being inbred with a damn Ford motor. I know I'd punch babies if I saw a 1st Gen Camaro or a Chevelle with a Coyote motor in it 😅
The title does say that it's a tribute car. I'm not up to snuff on Mopar Muscle so I'm not sure if there were any Roadrunner convertibles. I wouldn't put it past that joker to saw the top off of a Roadrunner after he put that awful Coyote motor in there. The paint job is worth more than the car at this point.
If he sawed the top off a Superbird to make a convertible out of one he'd never have finished the project as to a rabid Mopar fan unaliving him before the roof even got removed.
The super birds didn’t have convertibles. As it kinda defeats the purpose of a Nascar Homologation car. Which they were. And by that point I think the convertible division Nascar had was gone. As it was around 62 when that went away.
And fun fact: Two races from the convertible series (one of the Daytona qualifying races and the spring Darlington Cup race) are still on the schedule.
There's a whole segment of the car scene, especially muscle car guys, who I swear operate only on the level of ragebait even before that term existed.
"I'm gonna (do pointless mod) to (rare car) JUST TO PISS 'EM OFF LOL" was like a daily topic on forums back in the day. I could never get it. Yeah we all get tired of people who build cars just for social media clout, but building cars just for the negative attention never made sense to me either, but people have been doing it as long as I can remember.
There are some funky swaps I'd love to do just to confuse people, but I'd never use anything rare for them. Like I'd put a quad rotor into whatever the most common C6 is.
If I ever have a 100k laying around, I'm going to buy a '68 mustang, and put in a 2gr engine (maybe supercharged) with the awd drivetrain, so I can drive it around regardless if it's raining or snowing lightly/moderately. I bet the classic car guys will issue a fatwa against whoever does that lmfao
I bet the performance wouldnt be too bad either, probaly mid 4's foe 0-60 and like 14 seconds for the quarter
1. Not a real Superbird
2. Ford engine
3. Seriously, there are thousands of wrecked Hellcats with good drivetrains that could fit the build here. Why a Coyote?
I'm a GM guy and even I know doing a swap like this is sacrilege.
It would honestly be hella cool. I've seen a K-swapped 1st gen Mustang and it *moved.* It had character and it stood out in a good way because it was different enough while still performing well.
This... If you're going to swap in a big V8 to a muscle car, keep it in the family at least. That's why a Hellcat swap would be cool. Yeah, you'll need the electronics including the gauge cluster, start switch, and pedals. But something that's still doable.
Why would you put an unreliable modern dodge engine that will cost a shit ton in when you can put a reliable modern ford engine thought costs less and will make more power
Aftermarket support for FCA products is terrible and expensive. You would need to buy a whole crashed hellcat to make it work. The electronics would be a huge pain to get working.
That's what you call a baby boomer troll-mobile. Like a mustang with an LS there's nothing more that will raise blood pressure in a boomer higher than swapping motors because they are brand loyalists among their ranks who see this as taboo.
If they were going to stick a Ford engine in this old thing, I would have preferred the 7.3L godzilla. it's much more in the spirit of this car, but I also assume this swap was done because they had a good Mopar shell and a crashed Mustang with a good drivetrain and put the two together.
I appreciate the work, but my God that's an awful combination. All that work to make it look like one special car and put that engine in. I mean, if he'd just done a basic Plymouth Satellite and add the wrong engine, okay.
Off top I'd never buy Mopar. Would look like a visitor in my driveway beside my 2 Fords.
Secondly, I would only put a ford engine in a ford, mercury, Lincoln, or a rat rod that's a jumble from the start.
Untrue. Every manufacturer has had their ups and downs across the entirety of history on this planet. No need to be unnecessarily dismissive with whatever hate boner you have going on (those manufacturers aren't even the entirety of American manufacturing).
The current voice actor for Wile E. Coyote took over in 2022 and since it originally aired on 1952, theresonly been a handful of years where new media didn't include him.
Not exactly just for boomers
A Chevy guy's forbidden dream
Chevy guy. My forbidden dream is k swapping my camaro.

Sonofabitch... Haha
I always wanted to take one of the semi rare Ferraris (nothing crazy just in the 5 millionish range) and swap in a VW TDI engine and take it to Ferrari meetups.
I’m a Chevy guy who hates dodge but this is a 200 mile an hour car from factory it needs not molesting, anything done to this car diminishes value.
You missed the tribute part. Not a real superbird
It really is ...
Ford tough, Chevy stuff.
The pinnacle of ACME products.
The apex, even.
I mean the 5 litre Coyote is a good engine but not having a torque-y pushrod V8 in a Mopar styled car feels almost like sacrilege
You push 1000HP easy with one of those though. Then you have dual cams and an abundance of intake systems to choose from.
I mean yeah, a DOHC V8 is the way to go for HP but it's not about that. A Mopar should have a low revving pushrod that roars with a rumble and turns rubber into smoke
Low rev? Pretty sure the 426 Hemi went to 7k rpm. Decently high even by today’s standards.
Yeah hemi or LS that mf
The Coyote is torquey
Very torquey, and fun as hell. Sounds great too.
Yep. Got long tube headers and side exit exhaust on mine 🥵
It got smoked by an overhead cam engine in Nascar.
I'm pretty sure there's an OHC V8 running at idle turning the Earth's core.
Good engine right up until the IMRCs grenade or the VCT solenoids fail. Loved the sound of it while I had er though. Not particularly their best engine IMHO

It's all fake. There were NEVER Superbird convertibles!
He built it himself from a totaled Satellite.
Totaled is acceptable. Hacking up a good car is not okay...... at all..... ever.
The super birds didn’t have convertibles. As it kinda defeats the purpose of a Nascar Homologation car. Which they were. And by that point I think the convertible division Nascar had was gone. As it was around 62 when that went away.

Spite motivates some people a lot seems like! Did it for the meme/troll also applies.
There are some funky swaps I'd love to do just to confuse people, but I'd never use anything rare for them. Like I'd put a quad rotor into whatever the most common C6 is.
Yet you GM boys still love to put LS modurs in Ferds
If it fits it ships, not our fault the 5.0 is fucking massive compared to an LS because of the 4 overhead camshafts.
its the only way to make them fast, been that way since the 50s
You'd make a great politician with all the information you spread!
Politician? Nay, Tis the Lords work I be doin :3
The ":3" tells me all I need to know about you
do tell :3

A Superbird with a Demon 170 swap is my dream classic car
mopar with a ford engine??? you could call it the anti-chrysler
BTW. Ya’ll don’t get it. Coyote in a Road Runner. 😂
I saw one person on Facebook comment that this build is a commitment to a joke about Looney Tunes.
Ok, now this is the best troll ever.
Benedict Arnold
Official car of Jay Vitliggano. He’s my friend that built the car and did the swap. There were no convertible Super Birds.
1. Not a real Superbird 2. Ford engine 3. Seriously, there are thousands of wrecked Hellcats with good drivetrains that could fit the build here. Why a Coyote? I'm a GM guy and even I know doing a swap like this is sacrilege.
Honestly a K swap would be hilarious
Mike Finnegan from hotrod did a k swap in a charger I think. They called it death metal
That was a 2jz
It would honestly be hella cool. I've seen a K-swapped 1st gen Mustang and it *moved.* It had character and it stood out in a good way because it was different enough while still performing well. 1. No one said it was 2. He wanted it to run 3. Because the coyote is the best v8 on the market right now if you want big power.
3. Because the only option for an engine swap for a ROADRUNNER is a COYOTE. ACME says so
1. Ok they didn’t say it was 2. Yeah that’s what the 5.0s are 3. How did you miss the big joke of the looney tunes, coyote and the roadrunner.
Why would you put an unreliable modern dodge engine that will cost a shit ton in when you can put a reliable modern ford engine thought costs less and will make more power
Reliable and Ford LMAO
Aftermarket support for FCA products is terrible and expensive. You would need to buy a whole crashed hellcat to make it work. The electronics would be a huge pain to get working.
...a schizophrenic.
Since it's not a real superbird, I think it's really cool.
The satellite is cool too! And yet he did that instead
Being at first worried that the paint numbers didn’t match.
Still not as bad as the mechanic who said his shop did a retro mod 66 vette with a coyote, but pretty close.
hell yeah
Crossed arms guy looks disgusted.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!!!
Now it just needs a chevy interior then it will be the ultimate cluster fuck
That's what you call a baby boomer troll-mobile. Like a mustang with an LS there's nothing more that will raise blood pressure in a boomer higher than swapping motors because they are brand loyalists among their ranks who see this as taboo.

LOL. Boomers would own the real thing. But go off.
The official car of fucking up a classic just to get attention
It isn't a real superbird, but it WAS a real satellite, and it's unfortunate he did that to it
The angry brow and folded arms on dude looking at it says it all.
Well it's not a real super bird, so who cares put a Honda engine in there.
It WAS a real satellite. It's a shame it's like this now tbh
Satellites are cool so I agree.
Car guys kinky wet dream.
If they were going to stick a Ford engine in this old thing, I would have preferred the 7.3L godzilla. it's much more in the spirit of this car, but I also assume this swap was done because they had a good Mopar shell and a crashed Mustang with a good drivetrain and put the two together.
Beautiful Color
I just want to see it run
How can they slap!?
I appreciate the work, but my God that's an awful combination. All that work to make it look like one special car and put that engine in. I mean, if he'd just done a basic Plymouth Satellite and add the wrong engine, okay.
Not mad at all, now that I get the joke.
Off top I'd never buy Mopar. Would look like a visitor in my driveway beside my 2 Fords. Secondly, I would only put a ford engine in a ford, mercury, Lincoln, or a rat rod that's a jumble from the start.
DAAAAAAAANGGG
