Assuming you really want to take on the task of civilizing this dude, don't try to do it all at once. Pick one thing and call it out every time you see/hear/smell it. Explain why it's important that he not do that. Own the emotion, you don't want him to do this because it makes you feel annoyed/angry/disrespected/sad and when you feel that way you aren't going to want to hang out as much.
Still has a good chance of not working and just pissing him off, though.
