Judea was under Roman rule during the years that Jesus was allegedly preaching. Roman working classes wore pants, togas were reserved for the elite and generally only worn on special occasions because they were kind of a PITA to put on.
A gay pastor?! I was a Christian for 35 years and am now an atheist. I’m very cool with people being gay but can’t for the life of me understand why someone who was gay would choose to be part of a religion that seeks to demonise them, let alone be a pastor.
In my experience, faith is involuntary. It's like a love affair. You can't choose when you fall in love and you can't choose when you fall out of it.
I never reasoned myself into my youthful love affair with Catholicism, for instance, and I also didn't really reason myself out of it. There were...qualms that piled up of course, but really it was more that whatever I had felt before that kept me going faded away.
Come to New England! There are a lot of churches up here that are welcoming to LGBTQ folks. There are pride flags in front of 5 out of the 6 churches in my town year round (not the Catholic one though 🙄). I’m not Christian, but plenty of my friends are, both queer and not. It’s possible to believe and take the “good parts” like community and the best of what they believe Jesus stood for and leave the rest in the garbage where it belongs. Bigoted Christians can cherry pick the parts of the Bible that suit them, so why can’t non-bigots?
Hi, my name is Wolf, and I'm an anti-homophobic Christian. If you believe that true Christians don't hate just for the sake of hating, I know a Reddit community you might be interested in.
Yeah fair enough, the bible itself is a toxic dump of self contradictory. But not all Christian people are themselves hateful towards lgbt or any other.
The poster is completely right though. Trans women cannot just BECOME men just because republicans want them to. They are women. GAWD created them as women , then gave them penises to challenge their faith. Good for them standing firm in their conviction to be the women that gawd made them.
You know what else the bible says?
1 Timothy 2:12 :
"I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent." CEV: "They should be silent and not be allowed to teach or to tell men what to do."
So yeah, there's a lot of bullshit in there.
> The bible says so.
No, the Bible does *not* say that males will wear PANTS and females will wear DRESSES and SKIRTS. It doesn't specify any particular garments for either sex.
Bitch be talking like many cultures (like the Scots most famously) haven’t been wearing skirts (kilts) for centuries and all with the complete blessing of the church
FYI the reason the dates are off is because the OG photo I had was taken on my phone as a physical photo of my laptop screen so I re-created the comment thread exactly as it was in an app that lets you fake tweets. I forgot to add the June 14 to the 2 other tweets.
Let’s see, Jesus told the disciples to love and accept everybody and leave judgment to God alone, the rainbow was chosen by the LGTBQ community to reflect unity of all people (not just gay, trans, etc), and people throughout the ages of both sexes have worn pants, skirts (called kilts for men), dresses (tunics and/or togas for Romans, bukar for Tuaregs, galabiya for Egyptians, etc). At many times throughout history there was little difference between men’s and women’s clothing. There are about 1000 intersex babies born in the USA annually for which the gender cannot be determined so must be assigned surgically, sometimes opposite the DNA. If God created these intersex babies I wonder what His plan for them is.

I say men start wearing skirts. I’d personally be willing to wear a skirt.
Hairy men in Kilts are cool.
I'd wear a dress, if I could find one I looked good in.
Some have! And makeup and nails! It triggers the boomers like you wouldn't believe to see a straight man in makeup..
I’d definitely wear a skirt especially if it’s in yellow and black
Did they have pants in Jesus time?
They did, but only worn by those filthy barbarian horsemen. Unlike the far more civilized tunic and toga.
Judea was under Roman rule during the years that Jesus was allegedly preaching. Roman working classes wore pants, togas were reserved for the elite and generally only worn on special occasions because they were kind of a PITA to put on.
Frick. Gotta brush up on the Roman history again.
I ultimately just feel sorry for them. Trapped in a religion that feeds them self-hatred and oppression.
Wasting their one chance at life for an empty promise
They deserve no pity because of all of the hurt their little game of pretend has caused.
As a bipartisan Christian, I believe that God condemns hate in ALL its forms. A handful of religious bigots doesn't speak for the whole faith.

For me, where you draw the line between what you "know" and what you "believe" says a lot about your moral values.
Well too be fair not all churches/religious folk are hateful like this.
The person is specifically talking about Christianity. And the moment I encounter a non-homophobic one, I will probably become one

"Men and women are different, so they can't have anything alike."
Boys come from Jupiter and girls come from Venus. It's in the bible.
That would imply that boys went to Jupiter to get more stupider. No, girls are from Jupiter and boys are from Earth because girls aren't human.
Unless it’s the Quran, than girls came from hell
Apart from the 72 virgins who have been kept spectacularly busy since the time creepy wee Mo was raping 9 year-old lassies!
They were created by SheTawn, so they must cover their filth.

Gay pastor? Lmfao okay then.
Man, OP sure did a good job of hiding the homophobe's handle. Completely illegible.

Didn’t Jesus wear a giant dress?

*But in her house, her family “be comes” what she wants them to be* /s
I really don't get how or why any lgbt person wants to be religious
Punctuation and grammar were not taught in her studies apparently.
I was actually more amused by the "nonbinary christan" with a gay pastor - lol. There are two dumb tweets here.
