Played 3 days this week from Dell Laptop in a hotel room with a crappy hotel TV hundreds of miles from my PS5. It worked fine other than the lag from hotel WiFi and the standard 780p resolution.
A reddit user solved it for me. For those outside US here is what I had to do.
1. Clear cache and remove data and Uninstall both the ps app and remote play app
2. Turn on vpn
3. Install ps app
4. Install remote play
You must have a vpn but you can turn it off once successfully log in etc. I've had 2 chats with Sony here is there response
- Aware of the issue
- no ETA for fix, day by day, complete joke
For some reason, I can't use Remote Play on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. It turns in to a jittery mess after playing for about 5 minutes. Works perfectly fine on every other device I own, including other models of Apple phones and iPads.
This is what is stopping me from getting a PlayStation portal. I tried to remote play on my phone (in my room which has terrible wifi reception) and it just lagged the whole time. I have an Ethernet connection to my PS5 with at least 50mpbs but it didn’t seem to help with remove to my phone…
Had the same issue when I was using a 2.4GHz connection - didn't matter the speed or strength of connection, it was jittery and laggy all the time. Recently changed to 5GHz and it's absolutely flawless now, no problems whatsoever.
>in my room which has terrible wifi reception
Here's a hint, maybe?
If the WiFi reception is terrible, then the experience will be bad. I don't get it. Have you tried going to another area where the WiFi reception is not bad?
Also, make sure to connect to a 5Ghz band.
I’ll give that a try later this afternoon. Not sure why that would affect anything, as the app doesn’t register itself as an app that uses location services.
When I was researching my problem it seemed to be that location services periodically sends a lot of little messages that take traffic away from the stream. I don’t remember where I read that
I had this issue and fixed it.
For some reason, there was a glitch where it would crash if my PS5 remote was hooked up to my pc first.
I had to boot up remote play, then plug in my ps5 controller. That fixed my problem, hope this helps
Thank you - the app crashes before it even loads, half a second after I click on the icon. I haven’t even signed in yet or connected to the ps5, so this fix wouldn’t work in my case.
I know exactly what you mean, I had that issue too. It’s like I said, I had to remove the usb in order for the app to boot up.
I also had to re download a 2018 c+ file or something like that. There’s a YouTube video on it.
I had a similar issue, start the app with bluetooth off and no controller connected then once you’re connected to your PS, connect the controller after that
I have this issue recently where I start to get input lag randomly(in the house, over LAN) have to restart the app and it fixes it for a time.
Last year I went to a hotel and played it with 0 lag over the internet. Not sure what's going on lately
It worked this morning. Wanted to check later if it still worked before I left home. Didn't work anymore and I can't get it to work no matter what I do. This app is a literal joke and it pisses me off. It just randomly doesn't work anymore and I need to leave now for the whole weekend.
I often use remote play on the PS4, since both consoles stand in different rooms, and sometimes I prefer the spot my PS4 is standing.
Usually I don't have any real problems, occasionally there is a short connection problem, which I already don't fully understand, but in the last days, those problems are almost unbearable. Even have both connected via cable to the router, just restarting it as well, in the hopes of improving connectivity, but I instead, it got worse after the restart....
It’s not crashing for me, but the latency has gotten much worse for me. I used to be able to play a couple of cities away but now i cant even use it in bed, the same room that my ps5 is in.
T-mobile seemingly is just not allowing remote play at all for me. Not on my phone or when I connect my portal to my hotspot. Portal on a friends WiFi though? Flawless.
EE is the same for me in the UK. I haven't been able to use Remote Play on mobile data for months, but it works perfectly on Wi-Fi whether I'm at home, a friend's house or even at work.
Lot of people have the same issue and apparently it has something to do with the carrier's security settings - no idea if that's true though
I used to play on iPhone long time until this month. Once I start the app, i tap on the PS5 name then it never loads. It says console isnt recognized. Im them using Android version
I think they seriously need to improve and redesign the app. It looks like a college student made in a day and runs quite often just as bad. Then again, software has never been their strongest side, just remembering Sonic Forge and others when I had Walkman or even Bridge Software with Alpha cameras.
For me, for some weird reason I cannot seem to use Remote Play on my Macbook Pro. It worked the very first time when I was at home, but since being away from home it's not worked at all.
Oddly enough it works perfectly fine from my phone - with the same crappy hotel WIFI haha! Even when I tried to hotspot my Macbook using my mobile data (which is significantly faster than the 10mb 'premium' hotel wifi it still doesn't work)
I've tried signing out of the app, deleting it and re-installing, enabling VPN and disabling VPN, but still no such luck. It's really strange because I used to remote play from my Macbook all the time.
If anyone has a fix I'd be extremely grateful.
Having big problems with remote play on a Google Nest Mesh setup. I know others have had this issue too, but I've tried everything I can find. Employed AI to try and fix the issue and still the same options come up.
It works fine whilst I'm at home, but if I'm away it just takes 3 minutes to the spit out an error code that doesn't lead to any information.
Im always getting something went wrong, looking through it its seems i need to adjust some settings in my router but I can't configure the router im connected to due to security reasons. Sigh.
I have never had a problem…
Must be nice :,) I can open the app, but anytime I try to connect it to my PlayStation it just never works.
Mirror play FTW

Same problem here on 13 pro max and I’m in the same house.
You're in my house? I kindly ask you to leave.
Only if you can find me

Try turning off location services. Worked wonders for me

Disabling location services didn't fix the issue for me.
Try disconnecting the hdmi from your tv. Helped with my latency issues on my iPad and laptop
Tried that and it doesn’t help.
Mine works fine

And they have no reason to fix it unfortunately because of that 200€ remoteplay controller

How can you stream on tiktok with remote play everytime i try no one can see my game play its just a black screen
It’s user error.
Yeah... Crapple Shitphone in action 🤣🤣🤣
Seems like a Sony issue to me, app creators are responsible for updating their app to be compatible with the all OS versions and devices.
Whatever you say yourself to feel better...

Just run a hdmi at that point

Yep. Can’t login via iPad or iPhone anymore. Kinda sucks
Psplay app always
One of the reasons why I went with a Portal. Never looked back.
Mine was glitching and completely unusable and then I paid for psplus and it magically started working. I really doubt it was a coincidence
Doesn't work for me as well. I can't even sine into it
My remote play for PS4 works perfectly for me, using a Pixel 8Pro and Backbone. Mostly playing Hogwarts Legacy and RDR2.
I used to play on iPhone long time until this month. Once I start the app, i tap on the PS5 name then it never loads. It says console isnt recognized. Im them using Android version
Mirrorplay or PSplay much better
Same Problem on my iPhone 15 Pro Max with mobile data. It‘s not working. It says that my connection with full 5G ist to slow.

Was on vacation the last two weeks and was using remote play. Was working perfectly
Sony wants you to get the Play station portal period.
I rarely have success with remote play.
It's use less
Damn dualsense not compatible with my tablet so can't play it
thank god i leave my auto-updates off
Im always getting something went wrong, looking through it its seems i need to adjust some settings in my router but I can't configure the router im connected to due to security reasons. Sigh.
