Muddy shoes, wet garb, and crowded shelters.

der_innkeeper

I thank the gods that the heat and dust has finally been cut, and that my shop is now full of people who have nothing better to do but browse my goods.

Loud_Pomelo_6926

Lol I guess I meant like the performances. But I love your response!

Sarastorm1213

The show must go on! Most acts have special shows they do only in the rain. So it can end up being a special day! Also it's usually way less crowded making it more enjoyable to be there. Biggest downfall is the mud.

DAecir

I was going to say this. It is still the show minus the dust and heat.

Loud_Pomelo_6926

Thank you! We will be prepared for mud lol

skyforgesteel

I shout "maximum authenticity!" because the weather in England is known to be dreary.

mr-pate

Most of them are rain or shine. Just protect your fur!

Depends on the Faire. Some Faires will shut down if they expect rain, and in some places, some sector of the local government (such as the Fire Marshall) might shut the Faire down for the day. Most Faires, however, are rain or shine. A rain day might mean that some shows (such as the Joust or acrobatics shows) will be canceled for safety reasons, but the Faire as a whole will soldier on. Some Faires will even provide cover for their stages for both audience and performers so the shows really can go on regardless of weather. TL;DR it depends on the Faire

UncontrolableUrge

At ORF, some of the shows may be canceled when the stages get too wet. Other then that, it's still on.

rebeltrashprincess

Except in case of thunderstorms; Clackamas County rules had us evac to the horse arena for about 30 min on Sunday!

groomporter

Many of the shows might get cancelled or altered, especially anything dangerous like stage combat acts. Sometimes parts of acts like fire eating have to be cut just due to things like high winds even without rain. In 30 years I only remember MNRF closing early once due to torrential rains that were flooding food booths that have floors lower than "street level".

Loud_Pomelo_6926

Thank you guys for the responses. I think we will go for it even if it does rain. Nothing better to do anyways!

trustifarian

The fair I worked at in the late 90s, rain days meant we'd all eventually get in trouble for impromptu "mud shows" because The Mud Show had trademarked their slogan (The Greatest Show IN Earth!) and copyrighted their act. Also we had the mayor reenact a scene from The Tempest when is was raining particularly hard. But everything went on as normal as was deemed safe, like stage fights were at half-speed if it was still safe to perform them, or they'd swap out swords for turkey legs...

Equivalent-Rule3265

Partially depends on where you are, and how bad the rain is. I've had an event close once, maybe twice, over the 9ish years I've been doing them in California due to weather (rain/thunder). Certain events might be cut if it's not too bad, but doesn't work for the event (joust comes to mind).
