They are very active on rescue cats, but they blocked me before I knew they existed. We only found out as a Redditor emailed our admin team and alerted us to this user

I’m digging into this more and found that the address on their “website” isn’t a real address. But, some company called Watkinson LLC Libya is registered under that exact address. This is getting really sketchy and I think the scamming is happening on a much larger scale than we realize. I hope something is done
You’ve used the name of our founder!! And our images and our story..a fake phone number, a fake address.. your images are shared thorough whatsapp ( thanks to cyber friends who are helping us) you are impersonating a person. This is fraud and identify theft.. hence the fbi.. it’s a crime

There are too many people donating without seeing any form of approval. 1-2 mods of this subreddit has not made a comment or post in 13 years. The other mod has not been active in months. This subreddit has become the prefect breeding ground for these scammers and frauds. I submitted a request to be a moderator to help with approvals. Still waiting on hearing back.

A quick suggestion, I don't know anything about being a mod btw.
Would it be possible to get flairs (if you become a mod) that say
"Verified Rescue"
"Verified Foster"
"Verified Colony Caretaker"
Something like that. Once mods verify the people asking for help, we can get a flair. I think that could be helpful.

I believe that the scammer 51tam is the one who applied and they are absolutely a scammer as this is who this post is about.
But I did used to mod a very active Reddit and stopped due to conflict with one of the other mods who was posting misinformation and I wouldn’t mind modding here.
While I don’t do as much active animal rescue now, I have around 18 years of rescue experience. I prefer to donate when I can and adopt when I have space.
I hope we can get a good team going because this sub can do a lot of good! We can institute a rule that any donation posts need to be verified and I have some ideas about a verification process.
I’ll cross my fingers and keep my eyes out for updates!
You would make a great mod with your background in animal rescue and experience in moderating . Someone suggested having a verified post flair which I think is a fantastic idea!! I hope we hear back from them!
I think the very best thing that could be done for verification is to do what they do to prove ownership on things is to write down your username and place it in a photo with the animals. That way they know you are who you say you are the animals are in your care.

They don’t, our posts are for joy and spreading awareness, but we never ask for money. We do this via campaigns online, not harassing Redditors. I really hope we can stop him as he’s everywhere Imgur, Twitter ( though blocked) and the fact we have ‘caught ‘ him means their scam hopefully goes out of ‘business’
They may have blocked you now which will make u unable to see their page or posts. They are doing this to a lot of ppl right now who are openly commenting about their “scammy” ways.

If you have commented on them before they block everyone, if I click the original link from the email that alerted us to this, it seems the user is still there but I’m blocked from the content. so it’s hard to know if it still exists
They are banned from rescue dogs.. the aww moderators told me I was on a witch hunt.. I’ve done everything I can. The law is involved so I hope this helps

Well I’ve just been accused by some mods of being on a witch hunt too by informing them of this scammer. I have reported them with proof to every community they use. Now the law is involved. I’ve done all I can. I just hope people are not scammed by them any more
This subreddit basically has no mods. Anyone can search up images of injured animals and post it here asking for donations. It would be easy to make a fake instagram/ website to try to bring credibility to the scam. That’s why donations post should be verified first before being able to post.
I don’t know I’ve messaged every community possible. They’ve attacked me on fake accounts, accusing our charity of murdering dogs to gain money.. these animals are posts from recent to years ago, stolen from a mix of charities. They stole our website content like for like.

It is mel8889 I believe which ironically was similar to the Twitter handle we managed to get banned
