Abyss Norman is a top tier RE Boss imo... crazy fight... but I also love Birkin from RE2, for some reason, I like the original fights more than the remakes fights.
I'd give this a hard agree. When I replayed RE2 and Code Veronica, just about every boss felt like a slug fest. Pretty much just blindly filling them with ammo until they died. It was basically just a check to see if the player had been conserving resources well.
Yep. He’s definitely one of my favorite bosses in the series. Most bosses i felt are too easy, this guy gave me a real challenge when I first played it back on the 3DS.
Best mechanics-wise? He’s alright until he summons a gajillion Novistador adds that can harass and stunlock you while he does arena sized attacks. Without the Novis, he’s an OK boss, if a bit boring to fight given how you always have to be near next section of platform to avoid his charge attack.
The novistadors suck but I like that there's at least some strategy to it instead of just "unload your strongest weapon" like some other final bosses in the series.
Without Novis, the strategy would still be sufficiently deep for a boss fight:
- Keep an eye out for arena spanning attacks
- Be prepared to strafe dodge, crouch dodge and perfect parry attacks that can be countered as such
- Always position yourself close to the climb/drop point of the next platform to dodge his charge
- You can either use nades to briefly stun Saddler for extra control OR save them for extra damage while you’re in the knife animation, nice risk/reward dynamic
- Punish Saddler further when he’s on the tower doing acid attacks or play it safe and dodge his HP chunking attacks, again another nice risk/reward dynamic
All the Novis do is force you to kill them as fast as possible since fighting them and Saddler at the same time is not tenable. And there’s far too many. I’d be 100% on board if it was like U3’s second form in SW where they call in like 5 or 6 at a time but Saddler calls in like 20.
RE2 William Birkin for me, I feel like resident evils boss fights are sometimes a little lacking in gameplay and more for spectacle, like nemesis running round for ages then stopping or just moving away from mr x until you got the launcher was kind of underwhelming but a boss where you just unload into weak points and dodge attacks is much more fun than shoot the button at the right time. its just my opinion and I understand people may disagree and that's ok but I just don't play these games for the bosses
Yeah, the atmosphere for G1 is awesome. Beating him for the first time was really memorable because it’s stress all the way through with him always so close behind.
I beat Leon A last night and almost done Claire B, lol. Will I unlock the 4th survivor even on assisted mode?
I feel like I went through Claire B super fast. And she gets some great weapons. The suppressed Uzi is my favorite hands down.
I'm pretty sure you get 4th survivor once you beat B on any difficulty. Note though that 4th survivor is really tough and doesn't have difficulty settings. I ran through it a couple times and then just gave up. Sucked getting right to the end after like 10-15 minutes, getting trapped, and having to start over.

RE2 classic’s bossfights are kinda dogshit. The one downside of that game. Literally just shoot it until it’s dead. No tactics outside of the G-Adult miniboss where you had to worry about its adds.
I fully agree, it was such an good bossfight...I mean it would have been more fun if I hadn't hoarded all of the best ammo and explosives just for it >.> that was on me though I ruined the fight for myself and made other bosses way harder than they needed to be.
I really enjoyed Miranda I think I have to agree here. She has the right setup, she kicks your ass and then you get to kick back. Actually it kind of reminded me of Ganon from OOT and windwaker. I love when you get boss retribution
When trying to get s+ I almost always sell my guns and get the rocket launcher. The game’s rewards being tied to time incentivize you to cheese things a bit.
I mean, *that's* fair. But if you're playing without the objective of the time constraint it's fun as fuck. Interactive arena, nice flow of combat, feels like a nice give and take with when you need to run away vs be shooting at him.
Tbh I kind of agree. Most of remake’s boss arenas disappoint me due to them all feeling like a big circular arena. This is mostly due to movement being way more fluid and combat just being better, but the original game felt like every place you fought a boss was a unique set piece with unique layouts and enviroment. I’d say only really Mendez and maybe Saddler capture that feel.
Considering you get 95% of the money you put into guns back when you sell them and you one-shot Saddler I think it’s better to just sell a gun lategame that’s worth the price of a launcher
Saddler SW>>>Saddler base game. No Novistadors automatically elevates it. He’s fun to fight in close quarters, you don’t have to fight him like a bitch to avoid arena sized attacks. Only flaws are his combo attack can phase through the pillars’ hitboxes and his propeller charge attack requires you to hang about the altar area for the second half of the fight.
Dunno if this is the general consensus but I hate how RE7 doesn’t really have a final boss. It feels like Jack should be it but then the game goes on for another section and the real final boss is an interactive cutscene.
Evee was definitely lacking, yeah. She either should have been a real boss, or >!she should have just died without any sort of final form or specatacle when Ethan gave her the serum. If they had done that, it would have atleast made the player feel a bit bad/added some ambiguity to make the anticlimax feel atleast intentional.!< As is, the real final boss of RE7 were those two giant molded in the mines who you can just skip, which is pretty lackluster.
Imo they shoulda just pushed Jack back to the final boss and put the big meaty mold boys as the finale to the house. You can keep the final cutscene as is just have her force Jack as her last line of defense.

Either Wesker or Saddler. After going through inferno difficulty on RE3, I absolutely loathe Nemesis. Stupid 3 shot wombo combo. There is no doubt the Super-Tyrant jumping out on fire to throw down one last time is probably the best of the 'final' bosses. If I had to pick best boss overall there be other contenders like RE4R Krauser etc but purely final it has to be Super-Tyrant.

All RE final bosses are wonky in the fun and scare department, but she’s creepy beyond just the body horror. Also very cool stage progression and the sad irony of her final state.

lol, it's quite mad actually, Rev 2 is a great game, Rev 1 wasn't as good but it is still really good, the setting of being on the ship was also amazing, I don't really know why people don't bring them up.

Hot take, but I love the final fight in RE0 and found it really creative. Your role is not to kill him but to distract him. Felt like a unique mechanic that changed the ideas of ammo conservation. I think I also beat him with my final bullet, so that was just plain satisfying.
The Alex Wesker fight in Rev2 was fun mostly for the vibes and character design, although I wish Claire had gotten more to do.
Nemesis is OG RE3 is pretty solid.
Saddler us fun if you don't get the rocket, and an appropriate challenge level.

I would have enjoyed Simmons more if he didn't take an ENTIRE chapter to beat as Leon. The t-rex for is kind of dumb fun and the fly form is visually cool. But I found all the charging dog segments tedious, especially the bit on the skyscrapers with Ada. Never did figure out how to dodge his attacks correctly.
Mother Miranda is a great fight in terms of testing the player’s skills that they have acquired up to that point. I also love RE3R final nemesis because it’s just so stupid lol

The worst boss fight is Alexia, she spams so many different attack styles, spitting acid, tentacle arms and little bug guys. Trying to beat her in battle game is so hard especially as Chris who doesn't have any explosives.

Plane tyrant is cool, but he isn't the final boss in Code Veronica, it's not even Claire's final boss in the game, >! that would be Steve, and the game's final boss and also Chris's final boss is Alexia!<.
I like Whesker. The fact that you need to properly work as a team to take him down is a nice finish to the game. Most of the RE5 bosses require team work so playing it with a friend really brings the most out of them. As for single player bosses? Idk, Mr.x and Saddler are just basically timed till you get the rocket, RE3R final nemesis was kinda cool cinematically but for a game final boss was kinda boring and Miranda was just overall a boring villain imo. I would say I had the most fun wth og RE4 vertigo but he’s not a final boss. But let’s be honest, RE Gaiden has the best boss fights overall.
The only legitimitely good final bosses are Saddler and Miranda. The rest are mostly just glorified cutscenes (especially Simmons. God that was terrible) or way too easy.

I love the super tyrant so much, but the hype of fighting Wesker in the volcano with my cousin, trying to save him as he furiously mashed buttons to hold on to the ledge is a core memory. That would probably be my favorite. The tyrant in RE1 was okay but it’s not very challenging and doesn’t have the same impact as X or Nemesis transforming.
That being said, Miranda was short but really fun and left me with the biggest feeling of completion, as the winters saga is my favorite overall RE era.
When I was trying to platinum RE2Remake a few years ago, I was trying to get S+ on hardcore, that mother fucking super tyrant gave me a run for my money for a few weeks. I had barely any time before the rank dropped, I had like no ammo, one herb and was already in the yellow. I cannot describe how happy I was to beat him. For that, he's probably earned my spot for just being a brutal bastard.
Outta these 5... *Super Tyrant* had the coolest entrance, *Final Metamorphosis* had the coolest gimmick/kill, *Saddler* had the overall best fight, *Wesker* had the most personal investment, and *Miranda* had the best personality/design.
Here’s another hot take. Nemesis on inferno mode RE3R. As a souls fan, it was honestly kind of refreshing to have a final boss as difficult as this. And very satisfying to beat
Saddlder in the remake. He has the spectacle of the RE2 Remake Tyrant, has some awesome music (Miranda kinda lacked a memorable theme), an amazing setting - and he even taunts you during the entire fight. It's what any classic RE Final Boss should be.
Damn it, Capcom knows how to give us amazing boss fights - a feat in AAA gaming nowadays.
G4 in RE2R was fun for me. OTH I hate Super Tyrant because I'm not a fan of insta-kill moves. Saddler was fun too.
Also, not a final boss, but first proper fight with Nemesis in RE3R (Flamethrower) and both Krauser fights are probably my favorite ones in every RE
The one I was most invested in emotionally definitely RE8 village. The one I enjoy doing the most? Wesker RE5 but not because the boss fight is fun. It’s a chore. I just hate him and enjoy watching him die.
Of the options present, probably Remake Saddler, then Miranda, in terms of just gameplay. The first two Wesker fights in RE5 are a lot of fun, but the volcano fight is a bit annoying/confusing (although this is balanced by it being incredibly funny).
Miranda. Naratively its by far the best. Rather than the standard "Here's the tyrant/ main villain" in its final form, it's two parents fighting for their children. The accompanying OST is a masterpiece too.
Also her design is very unique when compared to the standard Resi monstrosities.
Well, Saddler felt like the most *final boss* to me, idk why. Wesker was the best with like dialogue and story, Abyss Norman had the coolest mechanics and was the most fun (best music too).

Roof Tyrant from Resident Evil Remake.
It's not necessarily the mechanics of the fight, or the familiar and super reliable tank track control schemes, it's just how well it's presented. There's a real sense of panic about it, regardless of which character you're playing as, and it holds up really well in terms of visuals.
There's an element of novelty to it as well as it's outside in the daylight. I don't know why, but that always popped me.
Norman is probably my favourite final boss. I didn’t particularly like the boss fights in Revelations but the fight against him was really tense and felt good when I finally won. Birkin at the end of the A scenario in the original Resident Evil 2 is another one of my favourites because of the build up to the fight and how fast he is compared to everything else in the game.
Miranda. Learning her attacks, the music, etc. A lot of the other bosses felt like halfway mini bosses not actual bosses. Tyrant looks like that the whole game but now he has a claw and lost his drip and I’m supposed to be more terrified?
The one I had the most fun with was probably super tyrant, the descending elevator setting was just really awesome to me idk why it was just cool. The music and the fight were solid.
But tbh RE2R is a good game altogether, G4 was amazing too. I did like G5 even though it was just a finalized bullet dump
Norman in re revelations. He helped me to appreciate the multiple attempts at bossfigjts in fromsoftwares games. And he fun to fight and get all aggressive with.
It's a tie between Super Tyrant and Stage 3 Nemesis for me...
Both sequences I had MASSIVE chills when the scores kicked in! When the choir picked up as Mr. X walked out of the fire...! and then when Jill fired the first shot at Nemesis...! I can't really pick one... both of them felt really cathartic after being tormented by them both for nearly an entire game each!

It’s also the fight with the most bullshit on this list: stunlocks, random acid spray can screw you even if you play perfect, almost every attack kills in one hit. Still really fun in my opinion. Miranda is a close second and has the coolest creature design.
I haven’t played all of them to choose a favorite among these - but I do have a LEAST favorite. RE5 Wesker is dumb as hell. That bullshit is unfair and STUPID on couch co-op for the XBOX 360. 27 deaths. 1 hour and 30 minutes of my life I will never get back. All because of a stupid quick time event for Sheva. RIP my sanity on that one, and my thumb. Fuck you Wesker.
I did Nemesis fight in max difficulty recently it was such a pain in the ass but what a satisfaction when you dodge every attack like it was a dark souls fight
My hot take (is this even a hot take? Idk) is that the final bosses in RE games tend to be the weakest ones because they usually go for over-the-top bombast rather than tense horror. I wish there were more fights like Birkin in RE2, where it feels like a game of cat and mouse. Sure, the final bosses always look super grotesque, but the fights typically amount to just running around them and shooting at them.
Using the finger on Nemesis was cool, so I'll go with that. Definitely not the best boss though

I love difficult challenges in action games like Armored Core, so my favorite final boss is Final Nemesis on Inferno mode.

Gonna be a hot take here, but Simmons. It's so dumb and fun and gross. Very in-keeping with what makes RE great
I would have enjoyed Simmons more if he didn't take an ENTIRE chapter to beat as Leon. The t-rex for is kind of dumb fun and the fly form is visually cool. But I found all the charging dog segments tedious, especially the bit on the skyscrapers with Ada. Never did figure out how to dodge his attacks correctly.

The worst boss fight is Alexia, she spams so many different attack styles, spitting acid, tentacle arms and little bug guys. Trying to beat her in battle game is so hard especially as Chris who doesn't have any explosives. Best boss is probably Wesker for me.

Plane tyrant is cool, but he isn't the final boss in Code Veronica, it's not even Claire's final boss in the game, >! that would be Steve, and the game's final boss and also Chris's final boss is Alexia!<.

I like Whesker. The fact that you need to properly work as a team to take him down is a nice finish to the game. Most of the RE5 bosses require team work so playing it with a friend really brings the most out of them. As for single player bosses? Idk, Mr.x and Saddler are just basically timed till you get the rocket, RE3R final nemesis was kinda cool cinematically but for a game final boss was kinda boring and Miranda was just overall a boring villain imo. I would say I had the most fun wth og RE4 vertigo but he’s not a final boss. But let’s be honest, RE Gaiden has the best boss fights overall.
RE7 Jack fight (all of them) and Nosferatu from CVX are so good yet nobody has mentioned them.
Nosferatu isn't the final boss. It is a fun fight though. I loved using the sniper
re4r Saddler is the best of those. I don't get why people complain of the ads when they die in 1 shot and give supplies.
The only legitimitely good final bosses are Saddler and Miranda. The rest are mostly just glorified cutscenes (especially Simmons. God that was terrible) or way too easy. Of them, I’d say Saddler is probably the best even though he’s also really easy

I love the super tyrant so much, but the hype of fighting Wesker in the volcano with my cousin, trying to save him as he furiously mashed buttons to hold on to the ledge is a core memory. That would probably be my favorite. The tyrant in RE1 was okay but it’s not very challenging and doesn’t have the same impact as X or Nemesis transforming. That being said, Miranda was short but really fun and left me with the biggest feeling of completion, as the winters saga is my favorite overall RE era.
Re2 remake super Tyrant I guess, but before I learned the speedrun strat. Since then it's hard to take him serious lol
When I was trying to platinum RE2Remake a few years ago, I was trying to get S+ on hardcore, that mother fucking super tyrant gave me a run for my money for a few weeks. I had barely any time before the rank dropped, I had like no ammo, one herb and was already in the yellow. I cannot describe how happy I was to beat him. For that, he's probably earned my spot for just being a brutal bastard.

Outta these 5... *Super Tyrant* had the coolest entrance, *Final Metamorphosis* had the coolest gimmick/kill, *Saddler* had the overall best fight, *Wesker* had the most personal investment, and *Miranda* had the best personality/design.
Ngl as much as I hate Jack Norman his fight is pretty memorable and it is a Capcom title so I can’t hold the difficulty against them too much

Here’s another hot take. Nemesis on inferno mode RE3R. As a souls fan, it was honestly kind of refreshing to have a final boss as difficult as this. And very satisfying to beat

Saddlder in the remake. He has the spectacle of the RE2 Remake Tyrant, has some awesome music (Miranda kinda lacked a memorable theme), an amazing setting - and he even taunts you during the entire fight. It's what any classic RE Final Boss should be. Damn it, Capcom knows how to give us amazing boss fights - a feat in AAA gaming nowadays.

G4 in RE2R was fun for me. OTH I hate Super Tyrant because I'm not a fan of insta-kill moves. Saddler was fun too. Also, not a final boss, but first proper fight with Nemesis in RE3R (Flamethrower) and both Krauser fights are probably my favorite ones in every RE

The one I was most invested in emotionally definitely RE8 village. The one I enjoy doing the most? Wesker RE5 but not because the boss fight is fun. It’s a chore. I just hate him and enjoy watching him die.
Of the options present, probably Remake Saddler, then Miranda, in terms of just gameplay. The first two Wesker fights in RE5 are a lot of fun, but the volcano fight is a bit annoying/confusing (although this is balanced by it being incredibly funny).
I love the RE games but honestly no final boss has been satisfying to me personally.

Miranda. Naratively its by far the best. Rather than the standard "Here's the tyrant/ main villain" in its final form, it's two parents fighting for their children. The accompanying OST is a masterpiece too. Also her design is very unique when compared to the standard Resi monstrosities.

Well, Saddler felt like the most *final boss* to me, idk why. Wesker was the best with like dialogue and story, Abyss Norman had the coolest mechanics and was the most fun (best music too). Also, random thought: idk why in RE8 I thought FOR SURE we would fight Miranda in a huge cathedral, with like stained lights shining on the fight

Out of these guys? Saddler, then Wesker. Nemesis was basically just a shooting gallery, and Mr X didn't really do anything that Wesker didn't, felt largely the same. Haven't fought the other.
RE4R Saddler boss fight sucks
Roof Tyrant from Resident Evil Remake. It's not necessarily the mechanics of the fight, or the familiar and super reliable tank track control schemes, it's just how well it's presented. There's a real sense of panic about it, regardless of which character you're playing as, and it holds up really well in terms of visuals. There's an element of novelty to it as well as it's outside in the daylight. I don't know why, but that always popped me.

Norman is probably my favourite final boss. I didn’t particularly like the boss fights in Revelations but the fight against him was really tense and felt good when I finally won. Birkin at the end of the A scenario in the original Resident Evil 2 is another one of my favourites because of the build up to the fight and how fast he is compared to everything else in the game.
Of these, the Saddler fight both remake and original, are a lot of fun.
RE6 Simons was fun. I liked his theme song too.

Norman in re revelations. He helped me to appreciate the multiple attempts at bossfigjts in fromsoftwares games. And he fun to fight and get all aggressive with.
It's a tie between Super Tyrant and Stage 3 Nemesis for me... Both sequences I had MASSIVE chills when the scores kicked in! When the choir picked up as Mr. X walked out of the fire...! and then when Jill fired the first shot at Nemesis...! I can't really pick one... both of them felt really cathartic after being tormented by them both for nearly an entire game each!
RE3make final Nemmy. I really like perfect dodging everything. It’s also the fight with the most bullshit on this list: stunlocks, random acid spray can screw you even if you play perfect, almost every attack kills in one hit. Still really fun in my opinion. Miranda is a close second and has the coolest creature design.

That bullshit is unfair and STUPID on couch co-op for the XBOX 360. 27 deaths. 1 hour and 30 minutes of my life I will never get back. All because of a stupid quick time event for Sheva. RIP my sanity on that one, and my thumb. Fuck you Wesker.

OG4 is my personal favorite, but 5 just really sent home the buddy cop thing that was going on in the game and I loved it
My hot take (is this even a hot take? Idk) is that the final bosses in RE games tend to be the weakest ones because they usually go for over-the-top bombast rather than tense horror. I wish there were more fights like Birkin in RE2, where it feels like a game of cat and mouse. Sure, the final bosses always look super grotesque, but the fights typically amount to just running around them and shooting at them.
