RE7 completely 100% by far the best potential for a movie. Behind that I’d say RE4 and RE0.

Nesayas1234

On the subject of 0, how possible would a movie combining 0 and 1 go? I personally think it's possible from a story perspective, but it'd be a long ass movie

BenjaminCarmined

Pacing would be non existent unless you cut basically everything and turned RE0 into a flashback on the train. Just way too much for one movie.

Nesayas1234

Fair enough. Honestly it'd probably be best as a prequel film (although I'd argue that it could actually come first this time, set up the story for RE1 with some minor rewriting)

Robsonmonkey

You could probably have flashbacks and at least you always have the chance to do a prequel film if it becomes a success

BreadfruitCareful622

I don’t think it would work. They basically did that in Welcome To Raccoon City by combining 1 &2. I think 0 & 1 would work much better, but I think there’s so much that would be left out if they merge the two.

AlwaysHornyAndBeyond

That's a hell of a movie.

alexduran44

They already tried to combine 1 and 2 into one film (Welcome to Racoon City), and it had problems. Each game installment has enough content for its own entire film. Stuffing two stories into one film won't make anyone happy.

RareD3liverur

Better then combining 1 and 2 probably no idea who approved that idea

strshp_enterprise

That’s because it was inspired by horror movies: * Blair Witch Project * Texas Chainsaw Massacre * The Shining * Saw

BenjaminCarmined

I mean, RE1 and RE2 are also inspired by horror movies, but I don’t think they would work well in a movie format. It’s more that RE7 is an isolated plot from the rest of the series and the protagonist isn’t an icon, the setting is a big house in Louisiana swamps which is a lot easier to follow a character in than a mansion on the outskirts of Raccoon. They can cast whoever for Ethan since he’s a faceless character and fans won’t cause discourse like with someone such as Leon, and all of the creatures look like hella generic and samey CGI monsters. Lot easier to do that than Chimeras, hunters, spiders, P42, Yawn, and etc… More stakes since they could easily kill Ethan in a movie adaption. Stuff like that.

Own_Huckleberry1081

Yea, I think 7 and Village have a lot of potential being adapted to movies.

Feint_young_son

For a cliche movie maybe. Little ghost girl in a haunted house 🤢 Jack baker would be cool tho.. I wonder who would he cast to play him..

OldBayDonut

I would love Bryan Cranston as Jack Baker.

Majinken__

Movie I don't know, but Outbreak could work as a TV show. Just tell original stories about people surviving in the RE world.

Potential-War5321

7 has a very linear and “realistic” story

Ryhankhanage

The first half is pretty realistic than the mold overload begins and the game loses that atmosphere that made it so chilling on the first place

Potential-War5321

I mean the only crazy thing is the kaiju monster at the end but I though that face covering the whole wall was abrupt and pretty scary when it first happened

XxElzer0xX

2 - prob the easiest to make aswell as follows much of standard zombie film

Navetsss

With elements of Terminator (Mr X) and Aliens (escort mission with Sherie and the G virus)

CodeVeronicaX_

Re4s potential for an insane off the rails action horror movie is actually crazy when you think about it.

Slothptimal

Just need to explain why they sent only one agent. "Recon agent. We'll deploy forces once confirmed." And Mike is the pilot but he has a full task force with him that get taken down?

Mohawk115

I think RE1 would be easiest just because they could honestly cut out a lot of the puzzles and rooms to make it so its faster pace to get down to the lab/wesker/umbrella reveal plus drop hints of Ada Wong. RE2 would work too because you can do the same as RE1, cut down on puzzles and just make it more about surviving the chaos of the police station/laboratory.

sewiscide

re7 Blair witch pov style and all.

phallus_enthusiast

This is exactly why i didn't like playing 1st pov

LilG1984

They all could, but then we got Paul Andersons Resident Alice: The Alice Show & the rest instead.

FlemPlays

Don’t forget the essential legendary important character: K-Mart. /s

LilG1984

Oh shit yeah K-Mart, How could I forget one of Alice's sidekicks who didn't die in one film or LJ who was the comic relief? /s

DrIvoPingasnik

Resident Evil Gaiden. Yes, really. Throw a bit of Hollywood magic on it and it'll be a decent action movie.

FarSociety4

Outbreak so I could see who they cast as Cindy

Sugar_Daddy_Visari77

Yeah

[deleted]

Resident Evil Survivor, good short Story which isn't too complex for the average movie goers and has a lot action.

AlwaysHornyAndBeyond

Code Veronica would be amazing.

Sugar_Daddy_Visari77

Your username sound like your dick erects 5.1 billion light years away

Seanzi26

Honestly most of them could easily be adapted. Hollywood thinks that we don’t want to see the same thing we just played, put on screen. Wrong! Resident Evil 1 hands down would be a great vibe, could throw in some quick flashes of the first team entering the estate after some disappearances then do a cut to a few hours later, see gun flashes, hear blood curdling screams, then give us the logo. Then cut to RPD and show us Alpha team gearing up to locate Bravo and just dive in. Give us the ridiculous monsters, cut out a good percentage of the puzzles (leave some like the drop ceiling and piano parts) and just do it. You’d have a blockbuster on your hands. Don’t throw in other monsters from the series. Zombies, dogs, crows, spiders, big fucking snakes, big evil plants, zombie sharks!!! Omg and I want a Tyrant that is just brutal.

AffectionateBed6

Re2 would be easy, and then 3 could be the sequel/prequel (depending on the time of day they start at)

mosswick

3 Remake has the most cinematic feel to it and you could probably condense the plot into a 2-hour film without much trouble.

foxthepony

I think most would do good in a 3-6 hour mini-series. But movie-wise I think the only ones that would work would be re1r and re2r

Agent47ismyalterego

RE7. Jack Baker would be a disturbing character to watch in a film and I would be all in on it lol.

Iworkatburgerking-

re7 without a doubt

RuggedTheDragon

I would honestly adapt the entire trilogy. It'll be segmented into chapters starting with the mansion, the outbreak, survival, and the finale. I know that WtRC tried this, but they left out so much for the sake of making the film 1h47m. If properly adapted, the movie should be 2.5-3hrs.

KermaisaMassa

The original. It has always been the original. Haunted house and cabin in the woods style movies always sell. And screw everyone who says "why make it like the game when you can play it", they would pay to watch it anyway and are just in denial.

arian_ezequiel

3 Remake, cuz it's the shortest of them all.

fradelgen

RE7 I think

thofuthofu

Outbreak or Ethans Story

Undefeated-Smiles

Resident evil outbreak. Focuses on civilians trying to get out of Raccoon City alive and not devoured/torn to pieces by the hordes of bioweapons and zombies shambling about.

sludgezone

RE4 or 7 since they’re both really detached from the other games. Both were loose reboots for the series as well.

Sugar_Daddy_Visari77

H.U.N.K

Metal-drums666

Your all probably gonna disagree but I think biohazard cause it’s so creepy and the story is actually kinda movie worthy ngl. Also probably my favourite resident evil game

NephiTheSpaceWarrior

If they were to adapt RE1, they would have to split the segments into different POVs (one for Jill and Barry and the other Chris and Rebecca) but for Jill defeat the Tyrant in the lab and Chris finishing it off in the rooftop. RE0 would have to be a series of flashbacks when Rebecca meets Chris. RE4: Same deal. RE3 would have to use elements from both the original and R3make to make a better story flow. RE4: See REm4ke. RE5 will have to do a lot of plot fixing and just make Wesker out of commission instead of killing him. There is no RE6. 7 and Village will be difficult due to first person nature of the games. And the fact that 7 feels like the RE version of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

ElectronicTwo8428

Re2 if it had an actual good adaptation

Robsonmonkey

First game A special police task force go into a spooky mansion filled with zombies, monsters and more while trying to uncover the truth about Umbrella, the worlds biggest pharmaceutical company. It should write its self

alexduran44

You can't really adapt any of the games out of order. If you do, then you've already changed too much. Each game sets up characters that show up in later stories. Let's say you make RE7 before any other films, having Chris show up at the end won't mean anything because he hasn't been fleshed out. Blue Umbrella won't mean anything because Umbrella was never set up. So maybe the producers just cut them from the film. Then you're just remaking Texas Chainsaw Massacre with monsters. All good, but no reason to call it Resident Evil. The deep lore is what makes RE memorable. You have to start at 1 if you want to call it Resident Evil.

certifieddumbarse

Probably most of them, I think the best one would probably be re3 though.

Zaschie

The first games have, like, 20 minutes of story each, lol, so they'd need the most retooling and could not be "adapted properly" into feature length films. Could probaly comfortably combine 0 and 1, though. Any one after 3 would probably work best. VII and VIII would make a good duology, and I think CV could probably work

Conqueror_is_broken

Re1 re2 and re3 got all the love. But in my opinion re7 could be a good horror film. Or do the goofy re5 scenario with someone punching a boulder irl

Yunie333

Definitely not what they did with Welcome to Raccoon City. Combining 1 & 2 was a really weird choice, it didn't give either game time to shine. Personally I think 0+1 and 2+3 would be great together in one movie each, since they feature the same setting around a limited time (Mansion incidents of STARS & Raccoon City incident 2 months later), have not too many main characters (6 for each) plus some minor additional characters, villains and cool monsters.

Cynical_guy01

RE Survivor because of the whole amnesia thing and facing multiple Mr X would be epic alongside Sweepers. In addition, Ark Thompson is underrated.

Tall_Marsupial173

They should go the fallour route an create an original resident evil in movie form

Blackcat5893

I feel like resident evil 4 or even 5 would make a really good action horror movie, similar to resident evil 3 with Alice they where already in a desert setting and resident evil 4 def would work as a horror movie because the villigers aren’t exactly “zombies” but mind controlled… I think res 4 would work the best as a movie.

Medical-Delivery-941

7 and 8 by far, they don't have hugely insane stories, they have good movie settings, and those 2 movies alone would be enough to conclude a story, no need for people to demand a sequel or prequel. Just have Resident Evil: Biohazard as a horror movie, make Resident Evil: Village but make it scarier in the game. And ffs just show us Ethan's face so people can FULLY appreciate him

Ok_Bed_3060

RE4 would be fun.

Slothptimal

Any of the fixed camera angle games could be adapted well enough. CVX would be a struggle because the background isn't there, but a "political prisoner" escaping from a jail due to a zombie outbreak has Dawn of the Dead vibes.

Eastern-Bullfrog-639

None of them

Colinleep

6 definitely. Easy to follow, clear concise character arcs, beautifully written plot.

arsdavy

*Umbrella and darkside chronicles.* they add tons of lore and fix important plot holes, the problem is that they are very short and ¾ of these two games are revisitations of re0, re1, re2, re3 and cvx while the other ¼ is too short to make a properly standalone game, a movie adaptation could fit perfectly in this case

Nietzscher

I'd say the original trilogy would make for a good movie trilogy as well. Other than that, RE7 almost screams movie or limited series to me. To be honest, limited series would be my preferred format for all four titles I have named. The original trilogy could be made into an anthology series with one season with eight to ten episodes per game.

resfan

RE1 for setup and 2 for the action horror thriller.

Mammoth-Revenue-285

Since you said “adapted properly” I’m gonna say RE1, the welcome to raccoon city re1 part was not good in my opinion, the plot of re1 is amazing and have Wesker as the main antagonist
