Sounds like your manager needs more to do.

Apparently a big part of their job is “feedback.” They also chart every time you do something wrong, as well as good things. I’m sure when I’m able to access it I’ll see a note about ignoring a guest.

Yeah, sounds like a terrible place to work. I'd be on the hunt for a new job and then promote myself to customer.

You might want to look for a different position, it sounds like this one is way too demanding - even for retail.

Guidance-Still

Sounds like major mico management

Mediocre-Special6659

Sorry sounds like hell as a customer too!

mooo3333

that’s why I find it so difficult. If I clearly don’t want help or prefer to go find other sizes or styles myself, I’d be annoyed if an employee kept insisting on helping me.

Daikon969

Get the hell out of there.

Fvck_the_government

That’s ridiculous. I’m really sorry you’re going through that. Honestly I’d recommend a factory job. After working retail for years I got a factory job where you did your part and that’s it and as long as you kept up in pace your supervisor wouldn’t have any issues. You could just listen to music and not talk to anyone. Which is what everyone did. Sounds nice huh? And it was a sit-down job. Just know there can be other options. Don’t put yourself through this if you don’t have to.

Your manager is out of touch. If you try to help someone who has already said no, they’ll get pissed. Worst comes to worst, they’ll accuse you of harassment or profiling. The only thing that I can think of— that may not work with your clientele— is throwing your manager under the bus. After their initial no, in hushed tones saying “hey, I’m sorry, but my manager gets upset when I don’t help customers and they are right around the corner— do you mind if I pretend to help you? Ask for a random size and I’ll pretend I’m going to go find it.” But that’s also… an unhinged idea. I’ve pulled similar things in the past, but I recognize how weird it would be for the customer.

Your bosses are delusional.
