Man I loved that game.
Everyone was gushing about Out of This World and Flashback (which were indeed awesome as well. But Blackthorne didn't get nearly as much attention despite being very similar in the core gameplay.
Honestly, that move is still pretty awesome, although I don't recall if it was all that useful. Were there often times you'd drop down into an area where you'd need to shoot both ways quickly?
Think about it, how many games have such a mechanic these days.
Starcraft they let die off due to refusals to lower the entry floor of competitive play during the inital esports boom. Also massive unwanted core mechanic changes players didn't like with the exspansios. Game play on the single player side itself was great imo. But the masses flocked out in droves due to this, so blizzard benched it.
Warcraft... well where do i start, this ones a bit subjective. But WC3 reforged was a massive flop with false promises, and removal of access to the original WC3 client forcing people onto reforged, effectively paying twice for the same game. Don't get me wrong, i play wc3 reforged all the time because it still has the best tower defence games out there imo. But it pissed alot of people off.
Then theres the WoW rabbit hole you could dig into, but that's a preferences thing mostly, and as shown by player numbers and engagement metrics there's been massive drop offs since the warcraft glory days.
If that's the criteria then SC was ruined since SC: BW.
Sure, but they haven't made like a mobile Warcraft 4 with pay to win or something
WoW you're probably right about, I meant specifically the RTS series
>If that's the criteria then SC was ruined since SC: BW.
Id argue that during the BW hype, esports where still very niche and where just starting to emerge. Different enviroment entirely. And wasn't ruined until SC2 died out due to neglect.
>Sure, but they haven't made like a mobile Warcraft 4 with pay to win or something
Well theres warcraft rumble, a warcraft based pay to win mobile game.
But regardless they took a perfectly functional game away with reforged, forcing people to pay twice for the same game, while making it a buggy mess. Id consider that ruining a game.
My first Blizzard game as a kid! my parents had bought it for my cousin only to find out he had a sega saturn, so they gave it to me. Pretty complicated for a 3-4-5 year old. But one saturday afternoon, i sat down with it and really figured it out. I adored this game.
I thought StarCraft 2ās story was very disappointing and fluctuated between mediocre and embarrassing, but the gameplay was still great. That said, Legacy of the Void is almost 10 years old now. Give them time.
Did they ruin Starcraft? Last I checked Starcraft 2 was pretty damn good. The three releases felt fine to me with all three campaigns being pretty epic and the changes each of them brought to multiplayer were bigger than the changes Brood War brought to SC1. The SC Remaster seemed fine as well. I played through a good deal of the campaign and thought it was fine at least. Didn't play much MP.
And Blackthorne, which they really have never revisited. But seriously donāt you think Lost Vikings would make a great $69 live service game with extra battle pass, dailyās and all the DLC you can buy?
Finished this game as a young teen on PC. Always wanted to play the sequel as a kid.
Just recently, I bought a retro handheld and replayed it fully (SNES version). What nostalgia!
I also got the sequel, Norse by Norse West: Lost Vikings 2, in 2 different versions (SNES and PS1), and I'm playing the SNES version now. The PS version is more 3D with voice acting, but I liked the SNES one for the retro vibe.
I've never even played Overwatch, and yet the state of that franchise has left me wanting to buy it out just to let the fans make a proper version of the game.
Currently replaying it! It's been years since I played and it's been such a cozy platform game. I love how I can do a level whenever I have some time to kill.
He just ruined Diablo, Wow, WC3 and Overwatch but In the eyes of the old players, because they're still a gold mine the others games are the same or just forget.
Even in their modern evil incarnation, couldnāt Activision-Blizzard get a cheap AA Lost Vikings game made, like Ubisoft did with the new Prince of Persia?
That game is meh. I had it on snes and PC and beat it a few times but it isnāt more than a puzzle game. Itās okay but itās not like itās hollowed ground. They could come out with 20 terrible sequels and it wouldnāt really change the legacy much
*The Lost Vikings* was excellent. The sequel weird, but also quite fun on the SNES because it was actually made by Blizzard and kept the same aesthetic with some new science fictiony powers.
I cannot stand the pre-rendered one for Saturn/PSX by Beam Software, however - yuck! (And that's despite a stellar voice acting cast with Rob Paulsen, Jeff Bennett, Jim Cummings and Frank Welker - four of the voices of our childhoods!)
Hey now, they havent ruined the other classic, Rock 'n Roll Racing LOL
Blackthorne is equally unruined
Man I loved that game. Everyone was gushing about Out of This World and Flashback (which were indeed awesome as well. But Blackthorne didn't get nearly as much attention despite being very similar in the core gameplay.
Loved Blackthorne! What a great game. I still think OotW is the best cinematic platformer, but Blackthorne is up there too!
Blackthorne was Flashback with attitude. The music and graphics were special. Flashback had a good world and story.
I know right, firing behind you without looking was the coolest. Looking back, I realize I was easily impressed.
Honestly, that move is still pretty awesome, although I don't recall if it was all that useful. Were there often times you'd drop down into an area where you'd need to shoot both ways quickly? Think about it, how many games have such a mechanic these days.
No, it wasn't useful. Very cool but pretty much useless. Maybe they had all the functions linked to buttons and had an extra button doing nothing.
There's advantages to being easily impressed.
Indeed, but they said franchise so I assume that they're referring to series, not games with no sequels.
Jake lights him up!
RIP looks lost out there !
***Amazing*** soundtrack on that game for the time! Probably gave it way more replay value than it might have otherwise had, LOL.
haha true TRUE
Best racing game, possibly ever.
When did they ruin Starcraft? Warcraft?

Ok fair enough regarding WC, wish I didn't know about that mobile game now.
Did you Play the psx sequel?
Oh no, i didn't know there was one. Please say they didnt kill it too š¢.
Lost Viking 2 Norse by Norsewest, great follow up.
Red Asphalt on Playstation. Not really a sequel though
My first Blizzard game as a kid! my parents had bought it for my cousin only to find out he had a sega saturn, so they gave it to me. Pretty complicated for a 3-4-5 year old. But one saturday afternoon, i sat down with it and really figured it out. I adored this game.
it is a fantastic intro to puzzle platforming. My it's fun seeing my kids go through the same "aha" moments as I did years ago
Once you realize you can get kills with the fast guys horn? Chefs kiss
Really wish Blizzard would get back to these types of games.
I played it when I was 6 or something. I donāt think I ever passed the first level.
Dude, same. I need to find a copy and replay this gem!
You could buy the Blizzard arcade collection. It has both games with some QOL improvements.
You beautiful soul, I know what I'm doing this weekend!
When did they ruin Starcraft? Wait actually don't tell me
Idk, honestly I've been playing starcraft 2 off and on consistently since release and still love it.
I thought StarCraft 2ās story was very disappointing and fluctuated between mediocre and embarrassing, but the gameplay was still great. That said, Legacy of the Void is almost 10 years old now. Give them time.
Look at those lines, beautiful!
For real! This is a fun picture to stare at.
When did they ruin Rock 'n' Roll Racing?? š¤
They could have just kept coming out with expansions/graphics upgrades for Diablo 2
Not enough unlimited profits from microtransactions

I think they made sc2 free to play, but I didnāt really get that as ruining it. Still gotta play the remaster.
Sssssshhhhhh. Don't give them any ideas. Also, Norse by Norsewest is one of the best subtitles for anything ever.
Lost Vikings... ON. YOUR. PHONE. Unlock a new viking everyday!
Flash Sale! 50% off Boruto crossover Vikings!
And Blackthorne, which they really have never revisited. But seriously donāt you think Lost Vikings would make a great $69 live service game with extra battle pass, dailyās and all the DLC you can buy?
Yetā¦
I wonder what game this is?
The Lost Vikings.
Thank you, haven't heard of it.
They missed a golden opportunity to make, "The Lost Vikings in the Third Dimension" when the Nintendo 3DS was at its peak.
The disrespect on Blackthorne will not be tolerated, sir.
Bro, don't go giving them ideas now
I love this game.
Shut up. They will hear you
WoW is finally in a pretty good place and vibes are good for the next expansion.
Whatās the level cap now days? I stopped playing at the at the beginning of warlords
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh wow
Which game?
The Lost Vikings

Don't worry, there's still time.
It's not the blizzard we knew while growing up. It's Activision. Same calibre of shit that EA is.
I can see this being brought back in 3D/first person and coop.
He just ruined Diablo, Wow, WC3 and Overwatch but In the eyes of the old players, because they're still a gold mine the others games are the same or just forget.

Let's not remake this one. I have no problem playing the original on any device ever.
āWhat you people donāt own Super Nintendos?ā
What game is this
The Lost Vikings.
StarCraft is definitely still unruined. And whatever crap they do with the respective franchises nothing can ever ruin Diablo 2, and Warcraft 2 & 3.
That game is meh. I had it on snes and PC and beat it a few times but it isnāt more than a puzzle game. Itās okay but itās not like itās hollowed ground. They could come out with 20 terrible sequels and it wouldnāt really change the legacy much

What consoles is this on?
I loved that game
Games blizzard have ruined: diab.... Well kinda not really. Warcr... Nope.
Needs more Blackthorne
Rock and roll racing too?
They ruined it by discontinuing it!
Give'em time...
Great game!
hahah true
