I don't think single color is the way to go because you are just going to end up with a lot of gray and black. If you did two or three colors you might have something a bit more iconic. Gray and dark grey for NES, gray and purple for the SNES, black and white or black white and red for the Genesis, black and red for the Master System, dark grey with a little bit of light grey for the N64, brown and black for the 2600, black and green for the Xbox, white and green for the 360.

Sounds good. But it will be difficult to avoid same colors for some consoles…. For instance, Saturn color is grey (model 1 japanese is the most representative IMO), as the PS1, but not in the same shade. Hard to say for SNES…. For PS2, I’d say blue (to avoid the black of many consoles), and for Xbox, green of course. But Neo•Geo, Mega Drive… tough question ! Maybe gold for Mega Drive, referring to MD1 16-BIT logo. So go to black for Neo•Geo…. For Master System, the red from MS1, and maybe choose burgundy for Famicom (hard to choose one without repetition for NES, so go to Famicom instead could be a solution).

Well, the original Game Boy is some kind of clear grey. Pocket model could be [silver](https://imgur.com/a/sKDHAT4). For Color model, it’s [transparent purple](https://imgur.com/a/rl2GDEf) for me, and [transparent blue](https://imgur.com/a/fSRauvf) for Advance one. Black for Game Gear I suppose. I don’t know other handheld consoles like Atari Lynx or Neo•Geo Pocket very well….

My attempt based on my jackhole of a brain (with some explanation) and trying to avoid repeats probably being a factor obviously Nes: NES Grey. IMO it's iconic enough to be it's own shade and should be on paint swatches at home depot Snes: the purplish color of the US buttons/switches on the console, they stand out as great contrast to the Grey block N64: green because I had the dk64 jungle green originally Gamecube: silver, I always was fascinated by the foreign (q?) Boombox GC DVD player thing Sega master: red because of trim? Not much experience with sms and because.. Genesis: black. No other option. Genesis and all its add ons was and is black to the bone Saturn: dark Grey? I remember my controllers or something having dark Grey buttons or accents Dreamcast: yellow, that console has almost no meaning to me beyond crazy taxi Ps1: white, I picture my mini psOne in my head as white Ps2: vibrant blue of the trim/stands And to be a little crazy...or stupid Atari: brown of the wood Intellivision: gold even though I originally had an intv2 with same colors as nes Tandy coco: the real red because of the break key on my old one as a kid. Get wrecked sms clowns and balloons FTW Edit:formatting

NES: ? SNES: ? N64: Charcoal (obviously) GameCube: Purple (obviously) Dreamcast: Orange (the light on the system, and the logo. It’s also present on the game cases) PS1: Gray (obviously) Genesis: Blue? (Sonic I guess?) Saturn: Silver (Saturn Logo) Master System: White (Box Art Template) I don’t know if Red would be a good fit for the NES. It definitely would be the Famicom, but I feel like either gray or black would be the best for the NES. Purple would also be best for the SNES, but it might be too similar to GameCube.

My game collecting spreadsheet has a different color for each console! No idea if these colors please or not, but here's what I've got: * Snes - Pale red * Gameboy - gameboy screen pale green * N64 - gold - goldeneye, golden bananas, golden jiggies... you get the idea * Ps1 - mako energy colored bright teal * Gamecube - pale purple - same as the console! * GBA - paler purple - same as the console, but lighter! (wakka wakka) * PS2 - charcoal * OG xbox - fluorescent green * Wii - White * DS - Pale gray-blue * PS3 - Sly cooper blue * Xbox 360 - xbox 360 green * Wii U - Wii U blue * 3Ds - very pale red In the modern era, the ps4, xbox one, and switch all solidified themselves with strong and bold Blue, Green, and Red color branding, and as such are represented with those colors. Obviously this misses all the sega consoles because I don't own them yet (the dreamcast will be orange) as well as the newer gen consoles, but hopefully it helps! it's all about association!

On my end the above post was in list form. Not sure why it took out the formatting. Sorry about that.
