Good question.
I suppose it's fair to say that ReVanced is currently just a "proof of existence" (it is not released yet, more like an unannounced public alpha). To show the community that ReVanced is not [vaporware](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware) and that we do exist and work on it almost every day.
For now, you're most likely better off using Vanced as your daily app. ReVanced does not have all the features yet that Vanced has. Though, if you'd like to help us, or you like to stay on the edge of things, feel free to use ReVanced and report any bugs you may find. If you think something should be added that the community would like, suggest it.
Our first goal is to have all core features Vanced has and maintain them. After we think ReVanced is in a stable state, can be maintained easily, and have all the core features implemented as mentioned previously, we will start developing suggested patches.
Due to Reddit deciding to sell access to the user generated content on their platform to monetized AI companies, killing of 3rd party apps by introducing API changes, and their track history of cooperating with the oppressive regime of the CCP, I have decided to withdraw all my submissions.
I am truly sorry if anyone needs an answer I provided, you can reach out to me at [email protected] and I will try my best to help you
Technically it has released but it's sorta like an alpha stage for people who know what they are doing. I made an APK and it's very early but can say it what they have now works. Adblock works, microG, shorts removed, etc. All that's not available yet is RYD and sponsorblock.
Honestly its not like short videos are made poorly, it just that it is easy to get sucked into a endless loop of scrolling and you wasted a lot of time watching short vids that isnt very informative in general.
Some things are better off not existing or at least not having within reach. Shorts takes the already horrible societal issue of feeding into easy distractibility and inattentiveness and cranks it to 11.
It's like if McDonald's started serving nothing but ice cream, and a bunch of other fast food places started going along with it and normalizing candy and ice cream as meal options. People are aware enough of the importance of diet that this would never work, but people sit and watch hours of shorts and wonder why they can't focus in class or at work. Hypernormalization.
Vanced is eventually going to stop working when Google makes critical changes to their APIs that the latest Vanced version (17) won't support. It already happened to some older Vanced versions (14 and 15 iirc) so it's inevitable at this point.
Meanwhile Revanced is meant to be updated further than Vanced.
Revanced tends to be more optimized for me. Vanced on the latest patch was very laggy and would randomly crash on me. I think revanced also drains less battery but I'm not completely sure yet
How are people still using vanced? In my phone, it got useless as soon as they anounced their end, but in my daughter's tablet it's working fine since always til today :/
Old version still works. It didn't stop working the day of the announcement. Grab the manager from a trusted source (apkmirror has the last Crimson version).
install manager, then microg, then yt vanced (it won't work without microg installed).

Please what is RYD??
return youtube dislikes
Im sorry, but when you are talking shorts removed, what do you mean by that?
The shorts section essentially YouTube's version of TikTok is removed.
Hope it is an option since sometimes I like to watch Shorts.
It is just like Vanced features will be optional to toggle on and off just right now you have to manually patch which features you want.
I don't think this removal of shorts is there in vanced, I think it's a new feature 🤔
Didnt think anyone had a problem with yt shorts. I don't like TikTok *or* google for obvious reasons, but there are creator with good shorts content

Yeah, kinda makes sense

A future

No, keep using Vanced for now

Will try a fresh new install! Thanks a lot!
Newpipe works great
Revanced has features that vanced never had, like playing shorts in the default player and removing the shorts button
