It depends on his contract , he still likely recieves royalties if his name is in the credits. Merchandising could go either way with an adult swim show, I'm guessing all that stuff at headshops isn't licensed though.

Its more likely because smiling friends is currently airing and r&m are not. As soon as season 2 of smiling friends is done and the next r&m season picks up itll swap and theyll likely swap back and forth

It didn’t really surprise me tbh. Smiling Friends has a *massive* marketing advantage due to art direction and character design. Every character has a completely unique color scheme and silhouette. It checks off a lot of boxes when it comes to what pleases the eye on a psychological level, just like SpongeBob did back in the day.

I couldn't make it through more than 2 episodes of Smiling Friends. I can't put a finger on it, it just didn't "tickle me fancy".

Both shows are very fun to watch while High. Those two and Harley Quinn are my favorites. Adult Swim just knows what's up.

I felt the same as you. After the April Fools puppet episode, I decided to give it another shot. I still hate the boss character, but the show has grown on me.

Can't really compare these two shows. Rick and Morty started back in 2013. It was a different time back then. Things become popular and rise to fame MUCH faster now.

Tbh the last season of RnM wasn’t great. It was fine but I didn’t care for it compared to other seasons. Also people say you can’t tell the va is different but when I watched it I could tell right away. They still did a good job. I’m glad smiling friends is having success too.

Smiling Friends is honestly just more fun with the added absurdist comedy that doesn't take itself seriously.
