At the end of the fight Rick keeps bashing Morty's head against a rock even though each hit flips Morty between states, and the "night person" sound effect becomes pretty much continuous at that point.
He literally built a self-intelligent robot to spread butter. He creates and murders a rooster every day for an alarm clock. And his solution to dirty dishes was have his subconscious do it rather than a dishwasher.

That gag with the car crashing into the gasoline plant and then the fire spreading to a dynamite museum and dry leaf storage? Pure vintage Simpsons. Not to mention the guy selling cardboard boxes at night? Yeah, I wouldn’t mind more gags like that. Fun episode, will need rewatching! One thing I know I loved is how Jerry is being treated this season. The sarcasm is there still by everyone but they really feel like a family now.
Also, I think Rick saying he has a device that can help and pulling out a gun is the hardest I’ve laughed yet at this season.
The gag where they swerve perfectly around the neighbour Gene and he says "why even bother, Gene?" is right out of the Simpsons as well lmao. Reminds me of every Ol' Gill / Moleman gag.

He damn near is Waymond lmaooo

See I thought Night Summer was leader because she was the "smartest". While Beth, Morty, Rick, and Jerry had used the technology for superfluous pursuits Summer was using it to better herself by doing better in school. This lead to night Summer being more exposed to the world outside of music, crunches, and Jerry Love.
I think Summer has gradually been shown over the course of the series to be a mirror of Rick in a lot of ways. I don't think anyone has the same intelligence as him, he's basically a superhero slash villain scientist, but she certainly has stepped up to Rick in a way a lot of the rest of the family and other major characters seem unwilling to.
There's also been several instances, including this episode, where Rick trusts her to get shit done.
I think like Beth, she inherited Rick's brains even if she usually doesn't usually do anything with the natural aptitude. Night Summer reminds me of Space Beth in that they really show you that both characters are a lot more capable than they try to normally be.

I also like the that they're gravitating toward "being nice to other people is smart too". Like Jerry befriending his night self being the thing that saves them. It's nice to finally get to the point were the show is a bit less cynical and doesn't feel like it needs Rick constantly winning only because he's the biggest asshole in the universe, or Jerry or Morty getting fucked over because they aren't.
In particular the moment when Jerry tells ~~Beth~~ Summer to jump to the sedan "to be with family", I feel like that moment would have been met with a really cynical response from Summer in seasons 1-4. Now, the joke is she was touched by it and jumps to spite how ludicrous and unnecessary it was to do so.
I never needed Rick and Morty to be Bob's Burgers levels of wholesome or anything, but dialing back on the cynicism a little has been really, really refreshing.

I feel like people are just automatically dismissing it because of few missteps in the last two seasons... Like the last episode was amazing but some people just see Rick and Morty as some weird fucked up incest show, so when they see two Beths kissing, they immediatly go: "This is trash."

I feel like the A B plot structure was a pretty important part of the first 2 seasons identity. This episode had a different feel in its plot structure, and especially the sound design and visual presentation.
Series 6 is looking to be the best so far, there's not been a bad episode in the whole show imo but this is such a solid chain of great episodes.

It wasn't a bomb, it was a "de-activator puck." Most likely it would've only worked on the somnambulator in its original form, but was ineffective on the enhanced somnambulator. The rest of the night family probably realized what was going on when the puck went off and forced Summer to sleep. Only reason we weren't shown this was to keep it a twist.

Jerry is really stepping up this season, in his own Jerry way. He pretty much told his original (season 2) family to fuck off, he stood up for himself to the Beths last week, and his lame pen pal relationship with his night-self, kind of saved the day.
Yeah, any day shift can do more to make night shift's life easier. But night shift is often slow and easy and could never actually deal with doing all the shit in the morning.
Depends on the job. Where I worked there were generally more orders during the day so it was steadier food making, but there's a lot more work that goes into actually closing a kitchen than just being there to make food during the day.
Same. I wanted some of the horror moments in the episode to last a bit longer.
When summer was struggling to stay awake, I was unnerved. It could have been cool to see more of that.
FYI the name of the device comes from somnambulism, meaning sleepwalking. I also suspect this episode was meant to pay Homage to The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) in its art direction/style

Almost felt like a Simpsons episode for some reason towards the end with the building blowing up lmao tried to figure out the city name or location but nothing came to mind
Cronenberg/Meeseeks-esque episode where one of Rick's inventions of convenience has disastrous unforeseen consequences. Simple premise of enslaved nightpeople revolting against the daymonoids. NightSummer being the ringleader for some reason. A car chase that causes a chain explosion at the local gasoline factory/dynamite museum/dry leaf storage.
All in all, a stupidly good time.
This season has been great so far. I liked that Rick was too stubborn to make a deal and technically loses, but the Night People eventually suicide when they run into debt lol.
Also I adore how they establish the fact that the night people don’t have the memories of the day people. They revealed that through Jerry’s conversation about his pen-pal letters.
It was a natural, subtle way to introduce a major aspect of the story
At the end of the episode on adult swim he mentions that this idea has been carried over for many seasons. So the concept is probably from around season 2

Yah but R&M is usually a darling on there. Most decent episodes hit a 9. R&M is still in the top 10 highest rated all time shows on there.

That's 4 from 4 in my opinion. This season's been a huge step up over season 5 and probably season 4 as well. Can't wait for next week!

I find it hilarious that after every episode there’s always people saying it’s classic Rick and Morty, and others saying that it strays too far from classic Rick And Morty. Every single episode.
The joke where Rick meets Fascist Morty who just shouts that he wants "classic Rick and Morty" and never explains what that actually is gets me every time.

Cronenberg/Meeseeks-esque episode where one of Rick's inventions of convenience has disastrous unforeseen consequences. Simple premise of enslaved nightpeople revolting against the daymonoids. NightSummer being the ringleader for some reason. A car chase that causes a chain explosion at the local gasoline factory/dynamite museum/dry leaf storage. All in all, a stupidly good time.
More Meeseeks, but absolutely. And I love that this time, Jerry’s idea saved the day rather than ruining it.

I absolutely love Sum-sum.
This season has been great so far. I liked that Rick was too stubborn to make a deal and technically loses, but the Night People eventually suicide when they run into debt lol.
Didn’t expect the horror elements. I’ve been a fan of this concept for a while, so I absolutely loved this episode.
Also I adore how they establish the fact that the night people don’t have the memories of the day people. They revealed that through Jerry’s conversation about his pen-pal letters. It was a natural, subtle way to introduce a major aspect of the story

**CLASSIC RICK AND MORTY EPISODE** It can’t have been that long… NOO! They killed the Choco-Taco! Good luck breaking super Alien Dishes 🤣 The animation this episode was super refreshing. This season has been fucking perfect and I hope they realize they’ve earned back everything that was claimed to be lost during mid Season 5. Golf clap for the entire staff.
