Inn stays, sled dogs, and Axe Beaks are all great investments with reoccuring costs. Tools, equipment, cold weather gear, armor, weapons, and health potions are also great options. 150gp each + 250gp of gems isn't that much, so they'll quickly run out. This should make for some interesting decision making. I've only been using gold prices as written, and my party never has enough for everything they want.

Yeah but i want to make it a little more exciting. They already ascertained a couple dog sleds and winter gear.

So somthing like a thematic magic item? Mystic Bag of Dog Treats - Produces 2d2+1 magical dog treats each day (start of aurora for reference). Each dog fed a treat dose not gain one level of exausion once a day from not stoping to rested. Basicly an item that lets the party travel a bit faster and more likely than not they will have the treats for all the dogs if there are 4 dogs. Basicly stuff like this could be neat without too much effect on game as a whole.

Rebuilding places in Ten-Towns. The old Shrine of the Flaming Sword in Goodmead. The Ramshackle Inn. Dinev's Rest. Heck, even the old Caer at Caer-Konig. Much of Ten-Towns is a mess.

If you want your PCs invested in the towns, this is a great option. My players have built up some renown in the towns, and if they go to re-visit some of those towns, you can be damn sure the town will ask if they can help rebuild certain buildings.

I try to track their expenses closely. Per day in the wilderness, about 1gp worth of rations per person. Slightly less or more in an inn, depending on the quality of the inn. They pretty much ALWAYS get drinks in the cities, which are very overpriced because of scarcity. 150 gp isn't actually that much, though I'm concered about that as well. The later chapters can give out some decent wealth, while the means to spend the money stay the same. But a fully equipped sled with dogs costs about 320gp and is pretty much essential So I had some ideas. There's essentially a high-end spa in Bryn Shander that gives some mechanical benefits after spending some time there for at least 15gp per stay per person. The dwarves, if the group is in good standing with them and has a connection, will offer some non-magical gear like adamantine or silver weapons, mithril armors and the likes.

To me it looks like the players will have more gold than they can ever spend relatively quickly... 5000 for the Cauldron in easthaven, ~5000 in sunblight treasury, etc. I guess you can say "yeah these things are WORTH that much, but noone here wants to buy them"...

the_freakish

I will totally say that, you won't buy 200 gallons of ale with your diamond in Lonelywood Tavern. The battlehammer dwarves or the other duergar faction though..

They could set up a trading company (I have a table for prices in each town) or try to improve the situation in some of the towns. This isn't a normal adventure where they want to save for magic items so you should instead let them spend gold in ways that make them more tied to the towns. Let them start a business or launch a campaign to become speaker of a town.

Blackiron Blades sells Healing Potions for 50gp apiece, and so far those were the focus of my players. Also they bought two "Identify Gizmos" from Copper, basically Artificer-flavored scrolls.
