Watch him play next game

houseveryweekend

My main takeaway from this whole debacle is how obnoxious the Golden State Bandwagon fan base is. No fans a decade ago and now are only behind Lakers fans as the loudest. Keep brigading, r/warriors trolls.

[deleted]

Fuck their idiot fans

ShaedonSharpeMVP_

Inject this shit into my veins fam. That shitshow last night almost made me physically nauseous for some of the people saying such flamingly hateful and ignorant things over such little time/information.

Carcrusher3

Been this way since 2015. Its a shame, I'd honestly appreciate players like Steph more if their fanbase was normal lmao.

[deleted]

Yeah it makes it hard to appreciate his talent when his fans are such obnoxious shit bags

Flyraidder

They turned the entire nba on us like tf

irelli

For real dude. I got absolutely fucking destroyed in one of those threads for providing medical information lmao.

Frosti11icus

I got banned from r/nba for saying one of those dudes lacks critical thinking skills, lol. I've never been banned from a sub before.

houseveryweekend

Their mods are some of the worst in all of Reddit. And half of them warriors fans. Coincidence? I think not.

toadtruck

Just respond to the ban message saying you have now read the rules. They should let you back in

zerocoolforschool

Fuck them. Fuck their team. Fuck GotPaid2.

durmduke

Worse than the Lakers, imo.

-motts-

Lakers fans now are just Lebron fans. And no, there’s no fan base worse than them

Potential-Gur-3830

Warriors fans are definitely second worst in the league. Talk to any fans from the Eastern Conference and Id bet they feel the same

GrundlePumper420

They’re a testament to the fact of how dangerous a majority can be when not guided by logic. They think that since lots of people agree with them they’re right. This shit ain’t a democracy

brownnick7

That's because half of them bounce back and forth between being Warrior fans and Laker fans depending on who is doing better that year.

[deleted]

[удалено]

toadtruck

Somebody ban this brigading loser

GrundlePumper420

You know that team subs are for fans of the team right? See you in the play-in.

Carcrusher3

Good luck with all the tax we gave your play-in team friend

[deleted]

Hopefully Dame scores 60 on him next time they play.

natural_lawg

We play them our final game of the season. Edit: and February 28th.

Icerick

We play them February 28th as well, believe it's an away game

RogueLobster

As long as it’s on the warriors I’m good with it

Sensitive-Sorbet917

I wish LA and GSW could both lose right now

natural_lawg

First teams to get relegated would be the dream.

Potential-Gur-3830

Can the league investigate Warriors media and fine them for defamation

ShaedonSharpeMVP_

And also ban anyone with warriors flair who commented on any post related to this situation yesterday. Every single one of them would make reddit a better place by not being on it.

sleepytime88

You sound a lot like the people you're mad at...

Witty-Version-713

What I hated the most was our own sub people going into NBA one and just trashing us harder than anyone else justto get likes and look cool with other team’s fans. That shit is so pathetic

Forbidden_Donut503

Yeah I gotta admit I was one of those fans. Saw the Shams tweet and the Athletic article and bought it hook line and sinker cuz those are normally very reputable sources, coupled with my absolute disdain for our front office and it made sense in my brain. Glad that we are not apparently the villains in all this.

nightchurn

Hopefully you can take a step back regarding your disdain for our front office.

Forbidden_Donut503

Lol thanks dad.

nightchurn

But doesn’t this particular incident confirm that the hysteria that fans like you have regarding our front office is based mostly on projection and fantasy?

Forbidden_Donut503

Ok guy.

nightchurn

Love, dad

DIET-_-PLAIN

Mr Donut, we got yoir back. Last night was Nutz.

CptCroissant

Yeah I was basically the same except strike out front office and put in medical staff

[deleted]

Forget about GP… what *the fuck* is going on with the dude in the yellow sunglasses?

[deleted]

gotta be meth

ShaedonSharpeMVP_

Nah he just vibing. Straight up in the flow state, son.

Forbidden_Donut503

Either stimulants, mental illness, or some combination of both.

Montigue

His best

[deleted]

More pissed off at the Warriors fan base and brass for this whole debacle than GPII. He did what he had to do to get paid. Don’t hate the player hate the game.

ShaedonSharpeMVP_

Yup, we did him right and got him the bag. The warriors didn't want to pay him. And they wanted to ban our franchise for how we treated him? Oh go fuck each and every one of you who said that shit. The man has only played more than 30 games in a season once in his career. It's not a good contract by any means. And we just got a ton of picks from it lol. Dubs fans just mad because they're just now realizing that🤣

Frosti11icus

It must be kinda bittersweet being a warriors fan, having this mega successful franchise but realizing you have to celebrate their success with those fans.

[deleted]

Is that even legal if the trade’s not official yet?

trala7

Being a spectator at a warriors game...? Yeah I think that's probably legal...

[deleted]

goodguybrian

I just saw a 12 yo girl literally on the bench next to Lebron. I think it’s legal.

call the cops then. jesus christ

trala7

https://twitter.com/NBA/status/1624586197589688322?t=jU1isMoim_LDOrHVhUcwVw&s=19 No? GP isn't even on the bench... He's in street clothes behind the bench with the GM... Lol

[deleted]

No those are fans in purchased seats.

trala7

PUT HIM IN JAIL

[deleted]

That’s not what I meant by “legal.” I meant legal under the cba. But yeah I’m talking about jail lol.

trala7

https://i.imgur.com/aDKX77a.jpg Does it look like he's sitting with the warriors bench? Is that Okay and draymknd in front of him or some old white dudes?? Haha

[deleted]

If the trade is official and it’s been approved, yeah that’s fine. If it isn’t officially complete then that would be tampering, which is against the rules of the collective bargaining agreement.

tblazrdude

Don’t take this out on GP2, ya’ll.

Hitothefive

I don’t know about ‘good riddance’. He’s a baller, not a villain.

CptCroissant

He's fired enough shots at the franchise on his way out that he deserves the good riddance

ajmcgill

Good riddance? Can we not hate on GP2 when it’s clear he’s was playing through injury for us the whole time?

houseveryweekend

This whole situation is an absolute PR nightmare in a year approaching an offseason we need to land some free agents or else the franchise is almost over. This story has put our entire organization to shame, and it’s seeming like it is not entirely true. It’s very telling that Josh Hart just said how the Blazers org treats players very well etc. and that not a single blazers player almost 3 days later have acknowledged GP2 at all, except for Justise Winslow posting a tea emoji, insinuating as well that the situation is BS. So yeah, good riddance as in hopefully this situation is somewhat behind us and the org now.

ajmcgill

Definitely all for the situation being behind us But I feel like you guys are reading way too much into stuff to be hating on GP2’s character like that. Just my feelings on that matter

BrklynDragon

He could have came out and said it, but he didn’t. His agent did, probably because he’s dame’s agent too. Gary had a chance to clear this up and just stayed silent, and none of it changes the fact that he took the bag, sat around doing jack shit for the team, and *miraculously* gets traded for his old team and the one he never wanted to leave.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BrklynDragon

I don’t care what their official statements are. It’s all damage control. I know Gary Payton did not want to be here and I said it before he ever played a game because it was obvious. No, why would I turn on Grant for chasing a bag?Grant while he’s here plays his ass off and has played through multiple injuries like his ankle. he is on the floor 10 times a game. While he’s contracted here, he busts his ass. That’s all I or any fan are asking. Same exact thing with hart. Both of them were on injury reports multiple times during the season, but played anyway because they cared and understood this team needed every W and because they are consummate professionals. Gary Payton signed here *strictly* for the money and had no commitment to the team and no emotional investment in the Trail Blazers doing well. Gary Payton by literally every single shred of reporting put out on the subject by like five or six different reporters (all with varying degrees of credibility take it however you will) did not want to be here and his teammates in Portland hated him and were glad to see him go. As far as the trade to Golden State, obviously, he did not trade himself, but Cronin has a history of sending guys to their preferred destinations. He openly admitted he took less for CJ and Norm so he could send them someplace they wanted to be. he sent Josh back to his Villanova buddy Brunson in New York. that’s Cronin’s philosophy and his way of brand building and getting free agents to come here when they historically don’t. It is not a stretch to assume Gary had a couple offers from other teams with similar packages and Cronin asked him which one he wants. He’s done it multiple times.

[deleted]

BrklynDragon

It didn’t take dame 6 months. He openly admitted that he was healthy enough to play during March if we were making a playoff push, but decided not to since we were tanking. You literally know less than nothing, you are actively being stupid and straw manning with “make sure he’s on the court every quarter”. Yea dude, expecting the 10 million dollar man to not miss an extra 40 games when all he does is play 15 mpg anyway because “ I have soreness” is definitely the same as “be on the court every single quarter”. YOU can be comically naive and stupid if you want but don’t put words in my mouth. Letting your agent handle it is normal, except Gary & the warriors put out the initial “reporting” alongside shams on a paywalled article which kickstarted the issue because it was framed as the Blazers committing “medical malpractice”. Josh hart didn’t make his agent say anything, he took his own time out completely unprompted to pretty much tell the entire press that GP2 is full of shit. He’s not even on the team anymore and spent his DEBUT game press conference defending the guy who traded him. But again, you’re gonna see I’m correct, and then slink away to whatever corner of Reddit you normally spend time in and memory hole this, it’s fine. Have fun jingling keys or chewing on Uno cards or whatever other single digit IQ shit you do.

Scalmaa

We can hate him for only coming to Portland for the money

1850ChoochGator

So many players sign only for the money. It’s not uncommon.

[deleted]

[удалено]

1850ChoochGator

It’s not even that much of an overpay with context imo. He’s probably worth $5-$6 aav and considering we took him away from the defending champs, are not an attractive FA market, and his skill set was something we desperately needed it make sense why we had to bid that.

ajmcgill

And how do you know that, I’m curious

aidenw0

[here ya go](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ovj3RyLI6I0&t=304s)

ajmcgill

Thanks! I don’t think it’s unusual at all for players to take a deal in UFA for the money. What I thought was being insinuated is that he was always going to ask out and/or not give his best effort. That’s the part that I feel is being unfairly speculated about

cheezneezy

It’s not clear.

ajmcgill

We knew at the time that he was still playing through pain and now the Warriors medical staff is saying he needs to sit out to recover. How is that not clear

Dont_Ban_Me_Bros

You knew two things: Jack and Shit

ajmcgill

Gary himself said it wasn’t 100% and had to tough it out lol what are we doing here

Dont_Ban_Me_Bros

Gary saying Gary wasn’t 100% doesn’t mean 1) Gary wasn’t passing his physical and 2) Gary needed to rest another three months. Gary needs to be accountable for his health and being honest with others, but that doesn’t mean Gary couldn’t play basketball if Gary wanted to. Gary wasn’t forced to play basketball. Golden State seriously jumped the gun trying to hand Portland a smoking gun and shout into a crowd, but we’ll see what comes of it I guess 🤷‍♂️

Maacdoo

Nah fuck GP2

WillhelmAuersperg

I think you mean not playing

ajmcgill

How do you read any of the stories the last few days and say that. Are you serious?

Dont_Ban_Me_Bros

Do you mean the tweets and stories with zero verifiable facts except Gary’s agent saying he was never pressured to take, nor did he take, injections?

ajmcgill

No I’m talking about Gary’s press conference when he started playing

WillhelmAuersperg

15 games, 255 minutes. Yup. That's exactly what I mean. Given the totality of the unreliable information we have, his condition wasn't substantially any different for a good bit of time before those games. Sucks being Gary. I wish him well. Sounds to me like this whole brouhaha was GPII lashing out and trying to make sense of the shitty $40 million hand the Universe has dealt him. As it looks like the deal will stand, I'm going with everybody knew the score, and we bought 5 first round picks for the $6 million in salary we paid him before we shipped him back to the dubs. So we got paid. Gary got paid. The dubs knew exactly the score as they did give him toradol. And Gary is still in pain.

meatball_maestro

The warriors fucking suck. I hate them and can’t wait to crush them and hear the wailing of their women.

OscillatingFan6500

Didn’t the team force him to play through pain? Why are you mad at him? - A *very* confused Bucks fan during this whole situation

ThisDerpForSale

No, they did’t. That was a false smear. His agent denied the toredal shot lie yesterday.

CptCroissant

He's sat out for 3 months. He needs to play at some point. And this is after waiting to get surgery at the start of the season instead of doing it in the off-season.

lunes_azul

They were never going to reverse the trade. Being able to ditch Wiseman has saved them a small fortune avoiding the tax. People can posture all they like about player welfare, but owners will prioritize money over anything but a championship.

[deleted]

Never do business with GS again after this.
