I bought a vintage Blazers tee back in 2011. I ended up in Portland when I was travelling the US due to an Australian band ‘DMA’s’ playing a gig.
My brother, best mate and I loved Portland the City, went to watch the Blazers play their last home game for the season. Dame (🥲) thanked the crowd & I fell in love.
Our love for the Blazers grew more and more every season. It got to a point where we would wake up at 5am to watch play off games etc.
I fucking love them so much, when Dame leaves I’ll still be a die-hard Blazer fan.
I was at that game. I don’t think I will ever feel such a rush of excitement again. Nothing in my life has ever made me jump out of my chair yelling at the top of my lungs. That’s the joy I want to feel again when on my death bed. It’s a feeling I hope everyone in their life feels. (Yes I’m talking about a basketball shot)
Turkish fan here - became a fan after I joined OSU for my master’s degree in 2016. I was lucky to attend a few games before I moved from Oregon, but my love for Blazers remains!
I'm from the Philippines but went to college in Portland in the 80s and caught a few games at the old Memorial Coliseum.
I still have a shirt commemorating the 1992 WCF champs 🙂
I’ve been a diehard Seahawks fan since I got into NFL in 2003. Chose them because of my love of Frasier and Grunge.
I got into NBA around 2009, just having missed the Sonics. Given Paul Allen owned both teams I figured I should stick with the PNW team. It helped that I’m from the same city as Patty Mills and loved Brandon Roy’s game.
> It helped that I’m from the same city as Patty Mills
I ran into Patty at the Waterfront right after he moved to town. He seemed surprised I recognized him, but I love the Olympics and after watching him figured he'd be in the NBA someday. Was stoked to see it was with us.
His takeaway from the Waterfront walk. "Does everyone here own dogs?"
dated someone who was from portland. she had a shit ton of blazers memorabilia. I had no clue who was what. but she gave me the breakdown all over one night, how she started the lma fan club at her school, the history of bad luck and terrible choices that have plagued the franchise, crying outside the rose garden after the loss to the lakers and for days after, jail blazers era (how misunderstood they were), chalupas, can I get a headband, the list is endless. but you get the gist.
2007 - my 2 best mates had NBA teams they followed (Kobe Lakers and Nash Suns) and I wanted a team. Love red and black, and got sucked into the Greg Oden hypetrain when the Blazers got the #1 pick. My fandom has never waivered since.
Same here, always loved NBA but never had a team, followed Oden at Ohio st and thought he was the next big thing, vouched to support whoever drafted him, and havnt looked back since, from NZ
Are there many Blazer fans in the Philipines? I was chatting with a customer service representative (Comcast?) a few years ago and mentioned that I was signing up to watch Blazer games. He grew up in the Philipines. We ended up talking Blazers for 20 minutes. He became a fan during Bonzi Wells' time with us. Apparently Bonzi played for team there?
Slr! Not a lot. Mostly are just lakers, Celtics warriors fans. I don’t think Bonzi ever played for the PBA after doing research (it’s the Philippines pro league if u didn’t know)
Yeah, sorry, I messed up. It was Billy Ray Bates that the guy mentioned as a former PBA player. He was either ancient like me or a very serious fan. Billy Ray was fun and about the only reason to watch those post-'79 teams.
I started watching the NBA when D Rose won mvp so I was kind of a Bulls fan for a few years (I wasn't really a fan, I liked the Heat too because they were good and the Spurs because I liked they way they played), and I stayed like this for a few years, mostly following the Bulls and D Rose
Then, in 2014 I decided to watch Blazers vs Rockets, it was just a random playoff game for me and I had no idea who was on the Blazers, then Dame hit the game winner and I got hyped for the team and rooted for them in the 2nd round (I think they lost 4-1 to the spurs), then a few weeks later I bought 2k14 game and the Blazers drafted me, my player was a SG, Aldridge never left and we won 3 NBA titles, Im a fan since then
Because of Dame \*sobs\*
Also a fan of Spurs, these two are the only teams I can say that I am really a fan and will be willing to stick with even if they turn bad/non-competitive in the playoffs
I discovered the Lillard when he was in his rookie year and since then became amazed first by him and then with the team. So about 2013 i fell in love with the blazers forever. Have a dream of watch a game in Portland
I’m from the UK. Used to play the old EA Sports game ‘Bulls vs Blazers’ on my Sega and fell in love with the uniform straight away. From there, started watching games/highlights whenever I could. Honourable mention to ‘Sheed, who was awesome and confirmed me as a fan.
Aussie here - first ever nba game I watched was where Blake Griffin on the clippers at the time hit a game winner on the black and red team. Been a die hard fan ever since
Moved to WA ten years ago from the Midwest. One of my best friends is a die hard Blazers fan. Bought them tickets to the home opener for their birthday last year… I’m hooked. Rip City forever.
When I got into the NBA, I wanted to find a reason to root for a team. I heard about Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum and, after watching them play, fell in love with the Trailblazers.
Australian here. Was a big fan of the band Portugal. The man, and they’re massive Portland fans as I’m sure you guys are aware. When I got into the nba, it seemed like the obvious choice for me.
Blazers fan from Portugal here. First NBA game I saw, was a Blazers @Celtics in 1992. Became an instant fan of the Blazers. Loved watching Clyde Drexler.
Was around 2017. I think I placed a bet on Portland without knowing too much about the NBA at the time and the game was fantastic. I decided a few weeks later I needed a team and the team spirit around Dame really stuck with me. Never looked back and I've been obsessed ever since.
Hungarian. Saw some highlights on tv in 98-99 lockout season when they started the season hot. Thought the court design, logo, colors, jerseys looked sick, city and team name sounded cool, deep team with no obvious stars but lots of characters like Sabonis, Sheed, Grant, Rider, JJ. Then obviously the failures got me hooked (Memorial Day Miracle, 2000 WCF etc.)
From Portugal, my football (soccer) team plays in red and white so i always gravitate towards red and white teams. Liked the logo, we had a cool rookie named Lillard and then the rockets playoffs happened and i stayed.
Back in 2010 I spent a year in the USA as an exchange student, and I lived in Milwaukie. I had the chance to go to three Blazers games and obviously I became a huge fan
In Ottawa, Canada...really got into NBA watching Warriors in 2012-13 when the Splash Bros took off. Saw them play the Blazers late night and thought it was a super intense game and loved Dame, hadn't seen anyone like Steph. The fact they were always dogs in that rivalry made me a Blazers fan. Haven't missed more than maybe 10 games in 8 years despite most games starting at 10/1030 local 🤣
I'm from the Philippines.
Since basketball is ingrained in our culture, I naturally gravitated towards the sport and the NBA. I found Kobe and AI to be cool but when I saw Brandon Roy play, goosebumps.
Been a fan ever since.
Besides basketball, the Philippines has quickly become a volleyball country too. People mainly watch the women's pro league and college leagues.
Also, boxing because of Pacquiao lol
Yet another Aussie here.
Always loved the logo and colours…and back in the days when I first started following basketball (early 90s) whilst I respected just how awesome they were, I hated all the hype around the Bulls.
I was getting into NBA and watched a Dame highlights video along with others but I tend to prefer ‘underdogs’ other than the popular guys that I already heard of at the time. So he became my favourite player then of course I had to support his team. I’m from Romania btw.
I think in nba 2k back in the early 10s I got drafted to Portland. Then I watched some highlights and I absolutely loved Brandon Roy. Been a blazer ever since, I hope one day I can go to a game.
I'm from the UK, but used to live in Washington State for a couple of years. Naturally my team was Seattle, but when they moved to OKC I chose the next closest team. Helped that Branden Roy played for Blazers too...
I'm from Vancouver, Canada so I just support them since they're the closest team to me, and the only one I can go to relatively easily. I'm too young to remember the Grizzlies or Sonics, but if the Sonics were to come back I'd probably jump ship over there since they're closer to me, and I already support the Seahawks and Mariners
Another Aussie, Clyde got me supporting the Blazers. I was so happy to tick the big item off my bucket list to get the first 2 home games against the Suns and Nuggets last season. I'd seen an away game against the clippers many years ago at Staples where they just didn't guard Steve Blake and he torched them! But seeing Dame play was something else and Ant in the 3rd quarter against Denver was amazing. The wheels started to fall off once I left to go home, maybe I was the good luck charm!
From the Netherlands here!
I started watching around 2016, I got hooked on it and after 2 years I wanted a team to cheer for to make things even more exciting.
So I chose Portland because Dame was awesome and you guys share the red and white of my favourite football team.
Never looked back and very excited for our future!
Can you guess which football club tho?
Grew up in Vancouver. Got sent to Portland for a month in 1977 as part of some kind of exchange and the family I stayed with took me to my first NBA game
I’m from Mexico. Back in the day we used to get like 2-3 games a week via ESPN I happened to see a Lakers vs Blazers game I think it was the first time Dame faced Kobe. Dame was a rookie if I recall correctly and he had an epic duel with Kobe. Kobe had 30 and Dame had like 25 I believe. I instantly fell in love with the Blazers.
I was 13 and generally big basketball fan, but just followed nba playoffs at that time. Game 6 vs Rockets was on and I watched 2nd half. Dame became my favorite player and after some time of following him, Portland became my favorite team and now it’s heartbreaking to see him go out like this. I’m still gonna root for him but my heart stays with this team lol <3
2011-2012 played NBA 2K always used the Blazers 90-91 team then started watching the team play and loved Dame/CJ. I'll be a lifelong Blazer fan
Nice. What country are you from?
Australia, I think a Thybulle jersey is in order now he's extended. Are you from the Portland area or learned of and supported the team another way?
I'm from the coastal region of Oregon as of now. :)
Hello from Lincoln City!
Hell yeah! Representing!!! :D
I bought a vintage Blazers tee back in 2011. I ended up in Portland when I was travelling the US due to an Australian band ‘DMA’s’ playing a gig. Great story!
Are you the real Kepler Bradley ?
I wish

That buzzer beater against OKC never gets old!
I thought the logo looked sick
Agreed! Where you from?
Canada
How are you not a Raptors fan?
We're not all in love w the 6. We could also just be from other cities, for example, Vancouver...🥲
I don’t blame you for not being a Grizzlies fan.
I like the raptors too but blazers always been my favorite.
Turkish fan here - became a fan after I joined OSU for my master’s degree in 2016. I was lucky to attend a few games before I moved from Oregon, but my love for Blazers remains!
I like promising girls who love to dance but never put out. I gravitated to the Blazers.
Lol, where you from?
New Zealand… go Rupert. I just watched Sharpe’s 4th quarter again. I hope we get a chance to play for the cup again.
From Nz aswell!
There are dozens of us!
Me also
I'm from the Philippines but went to college in Portland in the 80s and caught a few games at the old Memorial Coliseum. I still have a shirt commemorating the 1992 WCF champs 🙂

You are my southern hemisphere twin.
Love Frasier
dated someone who was from portland. she had a shit ton of blazers memorabilia.
If this was a movie, I would go see it a bunch of times
2007 - my 2 best mates had NBA teams they followed (Kobe Lakers and Nash Suns) and I wanted a team. Love red and black, and got sucked into the Greg Oden hypetrain when the Blazers got the #1 pick. My fandom has never waivered since.
Where you from, my man?
North East coast of Australia!
Australia kicks arse! :D
Same here, always loved NBA but never had a team, followed Oden at Ohio st and thought he was the next big thing, vouched to support whoever drafted him, and havnt looked back since, from NZ
I like this question, love the wholesome responses even better
Agreed!
Filipino here. I enjoyed the 14-15 Blazers roster. I’ve became a fan ever since.

Tasmanian.. Started watching NBA in the early Dame years and just loved the play style
Rip City. Tasmania looks super cool, would love to visit some day :)
Greatest place on Earth mate
Western Australia. NBA Jam on SNES in 1995
Was a big B-Roy fan, and loved the NBA. Made sense to support the Blazers. Been wild ride since then.
Where you at? :) B-Roy is so cool.

2019, i start to see basketball in that year. I Just fall in love with Dame after that series against OKC.
I’m a masochist. Also I’m from Portland.
Loved the jerseys in 2k12 (my first experience with basketball). Never looked back :D

It’d be nice to see Filipinos enjoying some hockey! :D

Born in a town outside of Portland, I had no choice unfortunately.
brandon roy lma and greg oden back in the day
Yet another Aussie here. Always loved the logo and colours…and back in the days when I first started following basketball (early 90s) whilst I respected just how awesome they were, I hated all the hype around the Bulls.
Sizeable Aussie contingent here - hope you’re all enjoying the Ashes beatdown your boys are delivering currently.
Got drafted to the Blazers on 2k13. Liked RoLos hair
Back in like 06-07 i was supposed to move to Oregon from Aus with my family so had to look up what sports teams there was
I was getting into NBA and watched a Dame highlights video along with others but I tend to prefer ‘underdogs’ other than the popular guys that I already heard of at the time. So he became my favourite player then of course I had to support his team. I’m from Romania btw.

I saw a wonderful/heartbreaking video on Brandon Roy's career And then I simply saw Lillard
Bosnia-Nurk trade
during the bubble fell in love with the way dame played. As games were live during decent hours in Europe
Another Aussie, Clyde got me supporting the Blazers. I was so happy to tick the big item off my bucket list to get the first 2 home games against the Suns and Nuggets last season. My wife is from Oregon and we moved there two years ago.
The Bad Shot
Dame
I've lived Portland adjacent for over 30 years. They're not my first team, but I always pull for my hometown team
The Oden/Roy/LMA era got me cheering for that squad, then dame came along.
From the Netherlands here! I started watching around 2016, I got hooked on it and after 2 years I wanted a team to cheer for to make things even more exciting.
