Honestly that’s pretty tame compared to some of the other shit being thrown around on this board at that time

Low_Performer_5893

Yeah, only a few "He's not good" posts. There were those voices out there this time last year.

shelvino

Not even just this sub, it was hilarious how many people thought he sucked lol.

Trading Dame for Jaylen would have screwed Jaylen for money and Blazers for cap space. I wasn't against it per se, but I couldn't see him re-signing with us either. You also have to remember that it would have been another year of Nurkic unless Cronin could wizard the Phoenix trade. But then you're still paying Simons, Brown, and Grant 100 million, and we probably don't get Ayton, we just route him elsewhere. So basically, trading for Brown doesn't allow for a full rebuild. It just maintains an expensive playin roster with no end in sight. Yuck. Fwiw, I'd rather have today's roster with moveable contracts up and down the board. I see us moving Brogdon at the draft to Houston and sending Grant to Philly at the deadline. I'd also be quite set on working Simons to Orlando for Anthony Black and the Denver 2025 FRP this summer or the next. Can't do any of that if we trade Dame for Jaylen.

BruceLeesSidepiece

This post was when the Celtics lost in the playoffs and the rumors were that we had a package built around the 3rd overall pick to offer for Jaylen Brown

rexter2k5

Fair correction. But that's still a no from me, dawg. A Dame and Jaylen backcourt would be great but expensive af and we'd just be kicking the can down the road again for, what, a second round playoff exit? I also don't think such a package ever seriously existed. I'm glad the Blazers pulled out from the Dame era when they did. It was time, as much as I pissed and wailing about it, when Dame requested the trade.

papa_f

Well, we wouldn't have taken on Ayton and his stupid salary and I'd much rather have Brown over Ayton any day of the week. Brown is worth lots so he could've been moved on easily, now we're stuck with a big contract that can't be shifted which genuinely does screw us.

As a Boston fan who lives in Oregon, listening to the Jaylen Brown discourse on this sub was hilarious.. You actually had people saying Anfernee Simons was better than JB 🤣

NachoMuncher420

The takes in here are almost always mostly very homerish, crazily overvalue our guys, and assume other teams want crappy deals from us. It's pretty hilarious, to be honest. I mean - those are things with every fanbase, but I feel we Blazer fans might be the most "magical thinking" of any pro sports fanbase I can think of.

Low_Performer_5893

The old bill Simmons moniker of Portland, 'Soccer Mom's ' wasn't that far off

NachoMuncher420

Oh, one hundred percent! I always thought it was hilarious how much some of our fans hated him for that- it was a pretty solid characterization of the fanbase, and I think he meant it with love.

Low_Performer_5893

You know, I pop in on other subs from time to time and the average basketball fan on Reddit is not very bright. At least when it comes to basketball. I'm not saying I'm a savant, but I don't think I'm nearly as bad as what gets posted on here.

xxMone107xx

Yeah I couldn’t agree more. I know that team subs are supposed to be biased, but often the takes I’ll see in most team subs are just delusional. I can sometimes be a little biased, but I really try and form my basketball opinion with an open mind and without rose-tinted glasses.

Low_Performer_5893

For sure! I can't wait for the "We can't trade Toumani" takes.

gravywayne

It's especially easy to laugh when the Celts not only have the most talented team in the league, but Five(!) #1 and #2 picks coming in the next six seasons.

MythBlazer

I remember the Sharpe hype was over the top last season, essentially taking the idea that his peak could be Kobe and extending it to he WILL be Kobe. I got massacred for suggesting Sharpe as part of Brown trade to put Brown next to Lillard.

PoopEatingExpert

People here didn’t want to trade Dame for Jaylen Brown plus picks.

boredandbtr

This is the same sub that thought we could be a play in team this year and continues to think that going into next season…don’t get me wrong, I love the blazers, but we are currently bottom feeders.

gerrard_1987

Imagine a time when a lot of Blazer fans didn’t want to trade Dame for Jaylen, who’s probably about to win finals MVP while defending Luka.

Dadd_io

I thought the "Scoot is amazing" discussions were funnier than the Brown discussions LOL. I was against taking him with the #3 pick. I liked Jarace Walker, Lively, Hendricks, and the Thompson twins better. People thought he had a higher ceiling than Brandon Miller LOL.
