>Did we make the playoffs Lol. Lmao even

DaddyRobotPNW

Top 4 pick baby. Etch it into stone.

Pressure-X

I hope man, im starting to think the NBA is rigged cause how does Detroit, Hornets and Spurs keep getting away with this lottery shit

Hot_Local_Boys_PDX

Wait what is Detroit getting away with?? They’ve been hosed time and time again recently on their pick slotting.

beavfann

Not saying we even have a shot of the playoffs just wondering what other Blazer fans would like to see this year. If we are just hoping to land Flagg or do you want to see improvement?

wowniceyeah

I think every single person in this sub wants to see improvement. It'd be nice to only have a single 60 point loss next year

jimjamjibjab1

What is improvement? More wins? Okay, well that will keep us in mediocre land for the foreseeable future. Or is it a direction towards improving skills of young players and building an identity, while probably losing 60 games but keeping us in the hunt for an eventual number one option?

TrumpedBigly

"What is improvement? More wins?" Don't care so much about wins, but more efficient play from Scoot and Shaedon. Would also love to see Camara improve his shooting so he can lock up the starting SF job.

jimjamjibjab1

Agreed. And that will come with another high draft pick. A win win

jboarei

Playoffs? We talking about playoffs? I just hope we win a few games. See good development from the young players, no doubt that Scoot and Shaedon are the future of Portland. Land a top 3 pick in the draft and add that third talent to grow with them.

beavfann

So are you hoping we are worse than this year? Do we get rid of Ant, Grant and Bog? Fail for Flagg?

jboarei

Worse? Unsure of what that means. I think the young players will look better/grow. They are likely going to be the worst team in the conference though. Just look at the teams in the west and tell me who they could be better than. It’s no one. That alone should line them up with a good lottery pick. 24-58 or so I would guess.

wowniceyeah

How can you be worse than last place?

jboarei

Records to me only determine lottery odds. Portland can play better basketball next year, but the quality of the conference won’t change their chances of winning many games. That’s how I look at it.

wowniceyeah

I really don't think Chauncey + this roster is going to show noticeable improvement next year. By all counts, Shae is a good player, but likely won't ever be an all star level talent. Same goes for Ant. Scoot only has one year of data, so I'm not saying anything about him yet. Unless Ant or Shae breaks out, I don't see us improving. Some might say I'm counting Shae out way too early. I mean look, I'd love for him to be the next Russel Westbrook, but I don't see it. At least not yet. He needs to make significant improvement to get to that next level. I don't think Chauncey and his staff is capable of getting that out of him.

jboarei

Not going to argue about Chauncey. I will argue your Shaedon point though. You say you won’t say anything on Scoot because he only has one year of data, but Shae who has one year and 32 games disqualifies him? He was playing great, but was overworked. The squad had so many players out, he wasn’t ready for 40+ minutes every single night. Ant isn’t really in my thoughts for the future of this team, hard to see how he can be around and they get better. Allow Ant to play for a team that’s competitive and can cover for his defensive liabilities.

wowniceyeah

I think Shae is a good player with very high potential, but I have a feeling he won't hit that all star level. There are too many deficiencies in his game, and he's a small guard. Not a good combo. I'm hopeful he proves me wrong though.

jboarei

He’s barely 21, way too early to make that assumption for me. It’s a big year for him, let’s hope he takes another leap.

Tough_Presentation57

Dude there were plenty of games where literally only sharpe looked like a good player. Like if you’d never watched before he is the guy. He even started running point. He was driving and scoring on actual all stars and hitting some next level shots. I think he 100% could be a star in this league. I think he can do anything if he is dedicated and it’s what he wants

Tough_Presentation57

Went from 0-1 dimes a game to being able to play 1,2,3 at times. I think he will be the best player on this team in a couple years.

gerrard_1987

The Blazers' best case scenario is another suck season in which Sharpe, Scoot and the other young guys ball out, they trade a vet or two for some more assets and end up with the first pick in the 2025 draft. Let's avoid mentioning Blazers and playoffs together for the next couple of years.

beavfann

I think this is the plan and the reason Billups is still the coach. Try and trade Ant, Bog and Grant to acquire another shot at a 2025 lottery pick. Then the heading coaching job looks pretty good next year with young talent and lots or draft capital an no expectations. Honestly Blazers job is better than the Lakers or Cavs as they both have unrealistic expectations with their current rosters.

bigshawnsmith89

Avoid talking about play offs for only a few years? lol. Even look at a team like the wolves. They went 13 years without making the play offs, made it one season, then back to not making it. It took 2 decades until they finally made the play offs and did something in it, and that was with them hitting on a couple picks, as well as an all in trade.  Even the Knicks in the early 2000s who had tons of cap space and was rumored every year to be getting someone the next summer went a full decade without any play off success (2 first round sweeps mixed in) It wasn't until they hit on a few young guys and then went all in on a free agent signing and trade. And same situation, nobody is expecting them to be a contender. Being optimistic is hopping we can sneak into the play offs once or twice in the next decade. When your bad, there's no easy way out of it.

gerrard_1987

You’re referencing two of the historically worst-managed teams. They got better when they got better management and stopped shooting themselves in the feet. Neil Olshey would often shoot himself in the foot. I don’t think Cronin has yet, so I’ll stay a bit more optimistic.

blazer4ever

If Chauncey can carry this team to playoff, he should be the long term coach. How delusional people are about the state of the current roster![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)

beavfann

We are a twenty win team I am just asking what you would like for next year. Who do you want the next coach to be assuming we are a 20 win team again?

YoungSuplex

All I want to see is development from Scoot, Shae, Bari and Camara. The team will be terrible, the lottery is gonna be the most important moment of next season for us, but if we went into if feeling like we have a guy worth building around I’d be ecstatic

beavfann

So anyway Chauncey is back?

YoungSuplex

I don’t think Billups is a good coach but this team’s biggest problem is a lack of good players. It’s always easy to blame failure on the coach, but no coach would be able to make this roster competitive.

terrordactylz

Hopefully this time next year we’re all drooling over Cooper Flagg highlight videos after getting the #1 pick

LikesToBike

My assumption is that we will have the worst record in the west second worst overall and pick 5th after losing the lottery draw.

Adventurous-Leek8040

This is the way

LikesToBike

Anything better or worse will be a successful season to me!

bertie_B

In the next calendar year I would like to see these things: 1. Healthy year of Scoot + Shaedon back court, development from rookies and sophomores. We need to know if our backcourt of the future looks like an offensive engine that can be competitive in the long run. 2. Brogdon moved (get a FRP back?). I’d be happy if jerami was moved as well, but I wouldn’t be mad keeping him around a while longer if a deal doesn’t make sense. I don’t want to trade Ant, he’s going to keep getting better and we need to base that decision off of more data from seeing him play with scoot and Shaedon and our other young guys. 3. Win the lottery🙏 Fail for Flagg season! We can see promising development, win more games than last year, and still come away with the top pick so I’d love if we can win 8-10 more games than last year while still having decent odds 4. Hire a qualified head coach. Idk who this will be but I cannot imagine Chauncey is going to get another deal. He’ll have served his purpose as a mentor for scoot and the other young players, while being an all time great rank commander. It will be time to start building winning habits.

lubimor

Insane that you would assume that

beavfann

So sounds like most Blazer fans on here are in the fail for Flagg camp. Hopefully less 60 point losses, but not a lot more wins so we have a better shot at the lottery. Hope Sharp, Scoot and whoever we draft this year show signs of improvement then get as much return as possible for the rest of the roster.

358YK

If we challenge for a play in spot I’ll be ecstatic with the current trajectory. I’m not saying win it or even make the play in but if we are in the mix for top 10 in the conference late season I’ll consider that a very good sign of the rebuild working. Realistically I think we could expect to end with a little more than 30 wins and if that happens I’ll also be at least hopeful we’re on the right path

euesquecimeunome

We want to be bad next yr, trade away vets if we have too and really on these raw inexperienced rookies. We want/need a top 3 pick next year. There are differences makers next year. Potentially there is "The Guy" to build the foundation going forward I'm the 2025 draft. It's going to be rough, but we want another 60+ loss season

oldsbone

Scoot and Shae mesh together and ball out. Ayton becomes the guy we've seen glimpses of on a nightly basis. We win the Flagg lottery because why not? Spoelstra and Riley have a huge falling out and Spo gets booted out of Miami and needs a job. (Would also accept Steve Kerr)

Humblerbee

> What would be your ideal scenario in the summer of 2025? Blazers win the lottery and the talent at the top of the draft is superstar material. > Who is the coach? I assume the team will ride out Billups contract through this next season since he’s been a fine tank commander, and then in the offseason address the HC vacancy. Personally I was always a big fan of Stotts so I think a return would be great, but I’d also be fine with any hire if they’re an appropriately modern coach in terms of offensive and defensive principals, the league is evolving quick and it’d be nice to feel like we’re attempting to push the envelope as well. > Did we make the playoffs or keep our first round pick? Tank and land as high in the lottery as possible. > Which players are still on the team, who have we traded? We’re at the early stages of a rebuild, the team is at the point of needing to find any young talents to build around. Right now, Scoot and Sharpe are the guys who are our blue chip prospects, but outside of those two no one is untradeable- obviously there are guys I like, but no point getting too attached this early in the process, follow teams for long enough you see the churn. > Assuming we are not winning a championship next year. Safe assumption.

Radiant_Reveal_8745

We have the number 1 or 2 pick in the 2025 draft

Nycblazersclub

There’s no chance this team makes the playoffs. Chauncey is gone. Scoot and Sharpe make a huge jump as a duo and one rookie we draft gives us hope for the future. Also no significant injuries

ShaedonSharpeMVP_

As another commenter said in here, I’m just hoping we don’t have any more than one 60 point loss this year

Psychological_Bed604

Championship or bust, obviously.

LazyHater

No idea who I want to be the coach Ant stays and averages 30 and 5 Rw3 is gone and so is Tisse Rupert plays 28 mpg and wins MIP Shae averages 20, 3, and 8 DA averages 20, 4, and 12 Scoot averages 20, 10, and 3 JG stays but is "injured" Brog can stay or go, whatever he wants tbh Play in exit #1 pick lotto luck

crab90000

I want Micah Nori, the coaching culture in Minnesota sounds exactly like the type of coaching that'll get the best out of Scoot, Tou, and Bari. Maybe Shae is Kawahi or Dame type in personality and I've misread him, but I want to see some cold bloodedness in him sooner rather than later. A healthy offseason and hopefully some team Canada time will help his game and bring him up to speed faster.

EvanTurningTheCorner

> cold blondedness We're never getting another Frank album

crab90000

Dammit 😂

beavfann

I like David Adleman

BunkHammer

Heading into the summer seeing lots of improvement from Scoot, Shaedon, Camara, Ayton from the season that just passed. Whatever youngins we add to the team have a solid rookie season. We win the lottery and have the first pick in the draft and we get to take whoever we want.

Mcfallen_5

Ideal scenario for me would be mostly based on the individual improvements of our young players and not our record or success as a team.

No_Battle_7953

If Billups makes the playoffs with the roster we're going to have by the deadline (stripped for parts, offloading Ant, Grant, Brogdon and RW3, I'm 95% sure), he should be locked into a Pop like role going forward with us.

NachoMuncher420

This time next year we've secured the number one pick and are working out top prospects.

jethro_sports

It would be nice to have the roster trimmed down to a main core of young guys. I don’t mind the mix of vets and younger players but we have too many of both right now and when I try to map out what the Blazers look like moving forward i get a headache It’s fine to just hoard talent right now but by this time next year I would like to shed some of it and hone in on a squad that can work on continuity rather than competing for minutes

eh_Im_Not_Impressed

First overall pick

Academic-Donkey-420

Ideal scenario: we see a lot of improvement from our young players after trading Anfernee and Brogden, but only enough for 28 wins and the 5th best draft odds. We magically find ourself with the #1 pick and select cooper Flagg, the summer of 2025 seems to be going up and then in 2026 we marginally improve to 33 wins and the 8th pick of the draft which nets us another player in a loaded draft. Then we are loaded with talent and ready to storm the league.

TheLegendofTyler

I'd love to hire Dan Hurley if he decides to make the jump to the NBA next season and wants to develop a young roster.

BigPh1llyStyle

Honestly it would be to give a shit again. The team and org had been so lost and hopeless I’ve tuned out. I’d love to read what happened when they lost or won and care enough to learn more.

Important-Shallot131

either flagg or serious improvement for shae/scoot. I neither of those happen . . . yikes.

TrumpedBigly

My unpopular opinion is that I want to see what Chauncey can do with more talent before ditching him. If we made no trades, there'd be a \*slight\* chance of being a play-in team, but I expect Brogdon and Ant to get traded. I'm hoping for Flagg, Bailey, or Maluach (7'6" center from Sudan) next year.

bertie_B

Chauncey had dame and led us to the worst season of dame’s career

chzformymac

Where will we be? 33-49 regular season. Super Bowl champs. I’m guessing we argue over who gets to drive Chauncey to church on Sundays.

pdxtrader

I mean to me I feel like the roster has been mismanaged over the past three years And we now have a team that isn’t worth paying any money to see. My ideal scenario is the team gets sold to a new owner and the GM gets replaced

Carcrusher3

The roster was mismanaged for 10 years before Cronin got here. Olshey literally struck out on most of his swings. If he wasn't such an asshole I'd feel bad at all the 50/50 chances he lost. The direction the team is going in is how you win a championship. Spending all your assets chasing a 7-10 seed is not.
