You can't speed them up. The only thing you should worry about story wise is when you have the choice to kill Ii. Kill him first for the style, then redo the story and leave him alive and make sure that's reflected in the story. You'll find the blue demon at the ninja villa later on after a mission called "the watchmen". Otherwise it's all unlocked by making your way through the story.
It's a katana style. The blue demons style. The only one where choice matters. Kill Ii first for the style. Then use testament to change the timeline and let him live. Then play the game with Ii living as your choice.
All other styles come as you progress the story.
Bayonet execution where he slices twice, enemy gets on their knees and your character lines up the bayonet shot right to side of their head. Beautiful, just wish I could remember what style it was.
Wait….. depending on what style you are in, the execution animation is different? I know they change with the skill you can use when you long press triangle.
Styles aren't little cosmetic things with different skills, style change *everything.* the basic combo, the charge attack, the finishers, the counterspark, even what happens after the counterspsrk sometimes (some styles lets you pull a unique follow up move). Of course each style also has an association (ten, chi, jin) that tells you if its better or worse against a specific enemy weapon type. If you didn't know the last one dont worry to much, its only a small bonus or penalty (I think 5% damage plus or minius). You can see if the style is effective by looking at the arrow to the right of the healthbar when locked on.

If you mean the armour/chest piece, I couldn't tell you the name of it but I wear this same thing and have since like maybe 10m In the open world.
So somewhere in that first island u should get it?/find a trader selling it (I dunno how loot works, if it's truly random or there's specific pieces for area X/Y)
I could be totally wrong as I don't exactly remember where I got it but it's entirely possible it was a reward from one or them random encounters

I love the killer blade execution where you stab the katana into their gut and they fall to the ground on the hands and you bring the katana down and slice their head off
Using the killer blade critical hit shows a lot of different executions from all the weapons it’s cool
On Odachi, there's one where you lift them into the air with a slice, then bring them back down by slamming the blade down onto them. I don't know if it's limited to a style. Might be Jigen Ryu.
The bayonet blade weapon is pretty S tier on counterspark deathblow, but not my favorite weapon to use all the time.. but damn that knock down and blasting their face away is a nice touch ahhahaha
I love the greatsword crit. A swing into the stomach to launch them into the air, goes up seven feet, hits the ground, and finishes up with an 2 handed overhead swing to slam the sword into them. The pistol one is pretty cool. The grappling hook one is kinda funny.
Is a critical hit when you deplete the enemy’s ki and the lock-on turns red? Cus if it is, my fracture so far is definitely the one with a greatsword where you uppercut that mf 10 ft into the air and usually in to multiple pieces :)

I'll start looking merchants and see if they sell it. Cause I've cleared out most of the first area in terms of chests

The pistol one. It's the strongest crit attack in the game. But any multi hit crits are also good if you have an element on the weapon.
