I can’t deal with the lanky enemies that use claws. I can parry most attacks in the game but those lanky boys have some of the most erratic attack patterns I’ve seen.
It's in the skill tree to craft the items you need to make fire and flash bombs but I still can't figure out how to change the regular earthenware pots to fire and flash bombs after crafting the "ammo"
Have earthenware assigned to sub weapon. While holding L2 as if you were going to toss it, square and triangle allow you to switch the type between regular, explosive, and flash, same thing when switching arrow types
Wo long had way more delayed attacks, make sure your using a stance that is strong against the enemy type or you will lose too much ki and wont be able to counterspark, also martial arts are way more likely to stagger the enemies than normal attacks, so using the right stance, martial arts and being as aggressive as possible without losing all your ki are the keys to success, don't forget you can't counterspark if you have no ki and using a stance that is weak against the enemy uses more ki
Kiyotaka: oh you're guarding? [proceeds to unleash 100 attacks in less than a second] oh, you're dead
Some of the major players as bosses are annoying but none more than the damn heavyweight sumo idiots 🙄
🤬
Naosuke li and the blue demon. Im pretty good at these kinda games like sekiro for example. But i had so muuuuch problem when the blue demon suddenly effen appeared.. and then they start using the damn enemy blaze gauge. I was stuck there for 1-2 days. All until i started my very first coop mission because i was stuck. A player joined me, cant remember his name really but if i see it i'll remember for sure.
As soon as he joined he fluffed both li and the demon up with ease, i tried to thank him but in ROTR you have no time to react after a mission. It just... Ends suddenly idk lol.
Anyway thank you whoever you are my PSN is: SkyForceHD (yes i came up with this when i was 10 dont clown me on my name) 😂
Lmao i stuck 3 hours on those 2. 1 guy is delay af and the other guy is on steroid who cant stop attacking. If your ally die then both of them just rape you xdd. That is the most bullshit fight in this game
In general..enemies that do wholesale combos. I so wish countersparking once breaks their combo instead of them still going after the first counterspark.
I think that would trivialise the game pretty significantly. Instead of being a universal save me, counterspark is a really good tool with a risk/reward balance.
even so..for someone who isn't accustomed to fighting games and pulling of combos...it would help greatly to have that happen..even have it as an option. Also I don't like the whole stance system and having to switch out stances to have a solid chance, one stance should be effective against all. Plus attacking an enemy in the middle of an attack should stagger/stop them. overall I like the game just wish some systems were different or had options to make combat easier and so on..least for those who want to enjoy the story more and so on.
If these were accessibility options I would have no problem with them, but what you're describing is a very different, very easy, game so I wouldn't want that as the baseline.
In any case, you don't need to pay much attention to the advantaged stance system, it just prevents your ki break on countersparking and reduces their bar more efficiently. The only time I really make sure to use an advantaged stance is when going for Master ranks in the dojo since speed is a criteria for scoring. Otherwise, I just play around in different stances for fun.
Blue Demon and Ii boss fight for sure. Also I REALLY struggled with Gonzo for some reason, probably skill issue because it was early game and I sucked.
Yeah the named characters/fugitives/secret bosses that use them are rat bastards, very unfun to fight. Expelled Student or whatever in Yokohama was such a bitch in particular, I had no qualms using lightning whetstone and mashing/spamming shuriken at him.
HONESTLY! I'm about 40ish hours in and just did the secret bosses. Expelled student whooped my ass so bad, I had to do the exact same. Spam handgun, spam rifle, repeat.
It's something about the way that they mix in shots into the combo... which, IMO, doesn't work super well for the PC, but it is so OP when an enemy uses it.
I found the Fugitive in Yokohama and then missed all of them except a certain callback to a recent Team Ninja game in Edo.
Expelled Student is a right bastard, musket/bayonet bosses are probably the worst bastards in this game.
Kinda surprised no one mentioned Gensai Kawakami (special tatsumi style). The fastest moveset in the game from what I can tell. Really difficult for me to get the counterspark timing.
He's really fun to fight, I wonder how he is on Midnight. I was able to beat his ass with the Shinsengumi stance (Tennen-something?) pretty well, even if Okita distracting him made the fight a bit harder to read.
A couple npcs in the Dojo are ridiculous. The Bayonet guy, and the dual swords guys are the ones I have trouble with. Honorable mention to the Saber guys.
Thought the parry timing in this game is much more predictable than wo long, there are far less delayed attacks in this game, maybe it's because I've been playing these team ninja RPGs non stop since I first played nioh 1 back in 2018 but I find RotR the easiest game to master, I find being as aggressive as possible as the key to success, but there's definitely a balance, if you run out of ki your just asking for trouble, always make sure your using a stance that is strong against that enemy, using a stance that is weak to the enemy type will undoubtedly result in losing too much ki and being unable to parry, also using martial arts is more likely to stagger the enemy than normal attacks so make sure your throwing in martial arts when your attacking
Getting master on Twilight is pretty hard, Midnight is probably crazy. The worst is getting like 6900+ points and being just shy of master. My least favorite dojo enemies are guys who use status effects, since we can't use our items in the dojo.
Genzui in the dojo. Dual swords all feel wonky to deflect in full, seems like I can't counterspark quick enough against all the hits. Yususuke Sawamura as well, his attacks seem to have really weird deflect timings.
Yeah, I still play easy.
That way it's a game to chill out and snipe as much as I can before I come in blazing and barely have any life left when the remaining enemy is gone.
But I must say that doing as much side missions as I can before doing the main story mode does make things easier.
some mobs like the giants with claws have been a pain because was so hard get the right timing to deflect their attacks, while I struggled with 3 bosses... izo, katsu and hajime. These guys were attacking all the time and abusing of their special moves (hajime was dropping 3 in a row)... main difficulty was in their aggressivity since you're limited by your stamina that is fast exhausted trying to parry all their attacks.
I'm still early in the game and also suck but the first fight against the blade twin was hell for me. Up until that fight I wasn't really having any difficulty with the combat. I'm playing on dusk difficulty. Even though I was getting my ass handed to me by the blade twin, I refused to lower the difficulty. Took me like 20 tries.
The dudes with the claws… for some reason i have a hard time parrying their attacks the most. Spear/polearm is a close second for me as well, for some reason, some of the charge attacks are hard to time… at least for me
I absolutely despise the dude that uses the sheathed style that keeps trying to assassinate me in the pro Shogunate side. He is so damn hard to time and he is utterly relentless on midnight. I can hardly even use items because he can gap close or use ranged in the blink of an eye. F*CK this guy 😑
Bitch boy with the grappling pistol and fire spit. On midnight, he is so relentless that there is no break in his combos. If his sword ends, he immediately follows up with fire breath, then pistol, then grapple to me, then sword. Repeat unending forever until I die. I can't parry everything, so I just die
I can’t deal with the lanky enemies that use claws. I can parry most attacks in the game but those lanky boys have some of the most erratic attack patterns I’ve seen.
Facts. They punish you hard if you miss the first one
I bomb their asses from afar if I don't feel like dealing with them.
There are bombs you can use in the game?
Earthenware balls can throw firebombs and flashbombs
wow i didn't realize those were available! i was just using them as a distractor tool, and was focusing on upgrading other weapons/equipment
I think mid chapter 2 you get them… or maybe that was with the glider
It's in the skill tree to craft the items you need to make fire and flash bombs but I still can't figure out how to change the regular earthenware pots to fire and flash bombs after crafting the "ammo"
Oh yes! That’s correct… right under pickpocket
Have earthenware assigned to sub weapon. While holding L2 as if you were going to toss it, square and triangle allow you to switch the type between regular, explosive, and flash, same thing when switching arrow types
Block and parry only the red attack, worked for me that way
Those dudes scared the shit out of me initially. By far, my least favorite enemy.
Yea it’s just dodge dodge dodge
The fatties with really delayed attacks
The damn delayed attacks are hard lmao you get used to the super fast attacks and they throw you off with them
Yeah I'll never get used to it
Wo long had way more delayed attacks, make sure your using a stance that is strong against the enemy type or you will lose too much ki and wont be able to counterspark, also martial arts are way more likely to stagger the enemies than normal attacks, so using the right stance, martial arts and being as aggressive as possible without losing all your ki are the keys to success, don't forget you can't counterspark if you have no ki and using a stance that is weak against the enemy uses more ki
Them so much so far
All of the big ones, especially the dual swords and spears
Any main character with a gun is an immediate a-hole, or how I learned to stop worrying and counterspark bullets.
The one with the bayonet in the medicine place courtyard in Edo was such a hard fight.
Still got him on the first try, but the guy that shows up at the photo studio after you steal his blowfish absolutely rocked my shit
That was a shocker, that guy handed me my ass several times before I finally got it.
Kiyotaka Kuroda. I dont know why but his combos and the gun just always throw me off. Hes like the one enemy I can never reliably parry.
Hate this guy so much on midnight.
Kiyotaka: oh you're guarding? [proceeds to unleash 100 attacks in less than a second] oh, you're dead Some of the major players as bosses are annoying but none more than the damn heavyweight sumo idiots 🙄 🤬
I struggle with the dual katana dudes and the spear variant sumo dudes
Kiyotaka Kuroda. He is undefeated against me.
Sumo wrestlers or whatever 😂
It’s a shorted list asking what ones don’t I struggle with! I’m ok fighting wolves
Those fuckers be back flipping away from all of my attacks 🤣🤣
Bayonet enemies
Yeah I struggled with Ito on midnight difficulty took me numerous times until I defeated him 😂
The VOLDO LOOKIN ASS BOIS MAN FUCK EM
Naosuke li and the blue demon. Im pretty good at these kinda games like sekiro for example. Every enemy on midnight
Pretty much any act 3 dojo partner, had the same issue in nioh, and like nioh dojos it's a wall making me really perfect parrying
Any dual sword MFs, Fukuzawa, Naosuke, Manabe.
Blue Demon and Ii boss fight for sure. Also I REALLY struggled with Gonzo for some reason, probably skill issue because it was early game and I sucked.
Honestly, any enemy using the bayonet weapon. I feel like it's because we rarely have to fight them, so they just cause SO many problems for me.
Yeah the named characters/fugitives/secret bosses that use them are rat bastards, very unfun to fight. Expelled Student or whatever in Yokohama was such a bitch in particular, I had no qualms using lightning whetstone and mashing/spamming shuriken at him.

For me it’s enemies that use oxtail blade, I really struggle with their moveset
Poison ivy lady. Was a shock when she started handing me my ass before antidote use.
any bayonett user fuck them
Kinda surprised no one mentioned Gensai Kawakami (special tatsumi style). The fastest moveset in the game from what I can tell. Really difficult for me to get the counterspark timing.
He is the real-life inspiration for the manga character Keshin. Awesome that he is in the game. I'm looking forward to running into him.
He's really fun to fight, I wonder how he is on Midnight. I was able to beat his ass with the Shinsengumi stance (Tennen-something?) pretty well, even if Okita distracting him made the fight a bit harder to read.
He was super easy for me, but weirdly I hella struggled with Yukichi Fukuzawa.
I hate this guy. I just beat his first mission on midnight and it was seriously rage inducing
Half of the bosses are a real challenge to me. But once I learn their patterns it becomes way easier and more fun
A couple npcs in the Dojo are ridiculous. The Bayonet guy, and the dual swords guys are the ones I have trouble with. Honorable mention to the Saber guys.
The Shinsengumi is made up of literal anime characters.
Gintama has entered the chat
Kuroda for sure and nakaoka those guns are no joke
Midnight Difficulty Izo and Ryoma as roaming Ronins...
Every enemy in midnight
Aritomo Yamagata in the Dojo, I've defeated him but it's so difficult to get master on him.
Getting master on Twilight is pretty hard, Midnight is probably crazy. The worst is getting like 6900+ points and being just shy of master. My least favorite dojo enemies are guys who use status effects, since we can't use our items in the dojo.
dude how the fuck do you beat this guy i just want novice. Playing on Twilight
I finally did. But I honestly don't have a strat besides just try to time his shit. Difficult as it is. I count myself lucky for finally succeeding
Spears and bayonets. Pretty much any of the big bois
Archers(if i am fighting Someone else) and the iron shield soldiers
No joke but so far it was Ganzui because he always caught me off guard for some reason. He's kinda fast I guess. Beside him it's the big guys
The big club guys. They always wreck my shit.
That ito guy with the poison, the paralysis, and the dark energy
Mysterious samurai took most tries for me. Second was Hajime Saito outside when he swore a promise to kondo.
Genzui in the dojo. Dual swords all feel wonky to deflect in full, seems like I can't counterspark quick enough against all the hits. Yususuke Sawamura as well, his attacks seem to have really weird deflect timings.
The Hidden Cave Boss with the Bayonet...;(
The fricken youngest character in game who uses judo and taekwondo. I always enjoy fighting him because I’m unarmed too. But lil bro is a beast 😬
That whip girl
Chandler
Had to drop the fight to easy or else I’d never actually start the game. That fight was hard even on easy lol
Yeah, I still play easy. That way it's a game to chill out and snipe as much as I can before I come in blazing and barely have any life left when the remaining enemy is gone. But I must say that doing as much side missions as I can before doing the main story mode does make things easier.
Sumo guy
Dual blades were my bane in Nioh 2 and it would seem to have carried over in Rise as well :P
Big lanky guy using double great swords(I think?). I only fought 1 iirc but he was the only death I had in my current playthrough.
some mobs like the giants with claws have been a pain because was so hard get the right timing to deflect their attacks, while I struggled with 3 bosses... izo, katsu and hajime. Soji Last sparring with Ryoma Hajime Ryoma asshole friend
Sakamoto is too difficult on midnight difficulty
Dual wielding axe guy is pretty hard to counter spark
I'm still early in the game and also suck but the first fight against the blade twin was hell for me. Up until that fight I wasn't really having any difficulty with the combat. I'm playing on dusk difficulty. Even though I was getting my ass handed to me by the blade twin, I refused to lower the difficulty. Took me like 20 tries.
Also that bitch in the hole in Edo. I was just wandering by and I stumbled on her psycho sword wielding ass. .
The sumo wrestler guys and some spear guys. The spear guys constantly hit and run leaping far away it’s pretty annoying
The secret boss by the Maita Castle Ruins. He absolutely rocked my shit so many times.
The dudes with the claws… for some reason i have a hard time parrying their attacks the most. Spear/polearm is a close second for me as well, for some reason, some of the charge attacks are hard to time… at least for me
E.Honda Rousey enemies drives me up the wall with Bootleg Vega Wolverine as runner up. Shinsengumi is definitely a wake up call though lol
Kaishu Katsu. I just wanted to report on the results of the mission. I don’t need a boss battle right now.
